Robbo looking for Jasmine
Robbo is distraught about Jasmine’s kidnapping (Picture: Channel 5)

Robbo (Jake Ryan) has been desperately looking for clues about Jasmine’s (Sam Frost) whereabouts after discovering the Ouroboros gang kidnapped her – and shot Scott (Trent Baines) – when they were on their way to the airport to get her sent overseas for her own safety. After Colby (Tim Franklin) spots the kidnappers’ car heading to Reefton Lakes, Robbo becomes increasingly frustrated that he hasn’t even heard anything from them.

Eventually, Robbo gets a phone call from Des (Matt Zeremes). He says he’s feeling generous, so briefly puts Jasmine on the line before swiping the phone away from her again. He then proceeds to make his demands crystal clear – either Robbo delivers Dylan Carter (Jeremy Lindsay Taylor), or he’ll never see his wife again.

Robbo warns Des that if he so much as touches Jasmine, he’s a dead man. But Des remains confident, knowing that all of the power is in his hands. Meanwhile, Jasmine’s fate is left hanging by a thin thread.

Robbo finds Jasmine’s wedding rings (Picture: Channel 5)

Murray brings Colby and Robbo news of an armed robbery of a chemist in Reefton Lakes, which makes them wonder if it’s related to Jasmine. After seeing the list of items stolen, Robbo realises Jasmine is trying to send him a message. They now know to look in the Reefton Lakes area, and search for old abandoned buildings until they see the warehouse.

Colby forces Robbo to wait until daylight before making a move on the building. Meanwhile, Jasmine has been trying to stall so Robbo has a better chance of reaching her. However, Des is onto her, knowing it’s only a matter of time before the cops connect the kidnapping and the chemist.

The next day, Robbo, Colby and the cops head out to the building, trying to proceed with the element of surprise. Robbo is devastated when they enter the warehouse to discover they were too late – Jasmine is gone. The only thing left behind is Jasmine’s wedding rings…

EastEnders spoilers: Karen Taylor and Sonia Fowler come to blows over Keegan Baker eloping with Tiffany Butcher

(Picture: BBC)

Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) was outraged when she heard that Keegan Baker (Zack Morris) and Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith) had become engaged in EastEnders, but she’s set to get an even bigger shock in the coming episodes when she learns that the pair are planning on eloping.

Several weeks back, Gray (Toby Alexander-Smith) and Chantelle (Jessica Plummer) planned a romantic evening, but things didn’t go according to plan and they were forced to return home. As a result, Keegan and Tiffany decided to make use of the free hotel room.

After discussing his future with Tiffany, Keegan took it upon himself to propose to the young woman — and she wasted little time in saying yes. Afterwards, the pair deliberated over when to tell their families, and they decided the sooner the better, and thus got their two clans together to drop the news.

Karen and Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) were concerned that the pairs’ impending announcement meant that a baby was on the way, but they were equally shocked when she learned of their engagement.

Since then, Tiffany and Keegan have made every effort to show their nearest and dearest just how serious they are about this, and in the coming episodes, they decide to elope.

(Picture: BBC)

However, once Karen learns of their plans, she’s shocked once more, and wastes little time in blaming Sonia on the whole thing — who’s far from impressed at the launderette manager’s accusations.

The question is — after they finish shouting the odds at one another — will they be able to come together and stop Tiff and Keegan in their tracks?

Karen and Sonia have made their opinions known on Tiff and Keegan’s plans in the past — as have Jack (Scott Maslen) and Whitney (Shona McGarty) — so they’ll no doubt be hellbent on putting a stop to the teenagers’ plans.

EastEnders airs these scenes on Thursday 7thNovember at 7:30pm on BBC One.

Casualty review with spoilers: Rash throws a punch at Ethan, and Rosa reveals secret heartbreak

Rash in Casualty
Not making mistakes (Picture: BBC)

This episode of Casualty started off with Rash (Neet Mohan) in a sunny mood, riding his bike to work with a happy smile on his face. A terrible collision with a tractor seemed inevitable, but instead what (or who) he collided with was Ethan (George Rainsford). This turned out to have consequences that were almost as bad as colliding with a tractor.

Having his coffee spilled by a happy junior doctor on a bike was not an ideal start to Ethan’s shift. He was preoccupied with trying to ignore Effie’s calls and having the guilt of lying to Theo hanging over him, but it was Rash who was really getting on his nerves.

This was entirely unfounded, as Rash and his sidekick Mason (Victor Oshin) dealt beautifully with a man who suddenly started coughing up blood. Mason discovered that the man had had a gastric band operation and then gone on a long-haul flight soon afterwards, and they swiftly dealt with the ensuing pulmonary embolism. But they got no thanks from Ethan, who was just annoyed that the PE had been missed in the first place. He wasn’t interested in their explanation that they had no reason to suspect anything more sinister than asthma. Ethan tutted and mentioned all the mistakes Rash has been making recently (almost all of which were Mason’s fault) and told him there was no way he could support him for the CT1 position.

Then Ethan complained that Rash had spent most of the day on the phone to his father and told him, ‘You have to find a way to move on from your grief.’ And Rash decked him with a total slugger of a punch that was completely unexpected. Mason witnessed all of this and followed Rash outside to put a comforting hand on his shoulder – but will he back Rash up after failing to speak up for him earlier?

Meanwhile, David (Jason Durr) was surprised to spot his own name – along with love hearts – in correspondence between Rosa (Jacey Salles) and her mum. It turned out that Rosa had told her fussy mum that she had a boyfriend and David was the first name that came to mind. ‘You’re not David!’ she told David. ‘Not the David!’ No wonder David looked confused. Eventually she told him she’d once been married and had a son, who’d died when he was eight years old. In her grief she’d taken to her bed for three years, during which time her marriage ended. Her mother supported her through all of this and that’s why she’s so protective of Rosa now.

Rosa and Ollie in Casualty
Rosa and Ollie bond (Picture: BBC)

Rosa and Ollie (Harry Collett) have developed a lovely bond and he talks to her about things he finds uncomfortable talking to David about – like his constant worry that he may be bipolar like his dad. David realised this, and when Rosa said she was leaving he asked her to stay. ‘You are a brilliant fake mum,’ he told her. Ollie is moving in with David permanently, and David has promised Rosa that he’ll pose as her boyfriend whenever her mother visits, which should be excellent fun.

Robyn and Charlie in Casualty
Robyn makes a kind offer (Picture: BBC)

Duffy (Cathy Shipton)’s first day as a volunteer in the ED didn’t go well. She was helpful and lovely as always, but it exhausted her so much she had to go home at lunch time. In a heartbreaking scene Charlie (Derek Thompson) told Robyn (Amanda Henderson) that Duffy has given so much to the NHS, but now she needs help herself she keeps being put on waiting lists. Lovely Robyn offered to give him some money so he could take Duffy to a private clinic. He said no, but was really moved by her kindness.

Mitchell Devereaux (Imran Adam) has been struggling with his developing feelings for Scott Drinkwell (Ross Adams) in Hollyoaks, but the pair are set to be confronted with a lot more than just their feelings in the coming episodes, as they find themselves caught up in the devastation that comes as part of the soap’s signature stunt week.

Mitchell and Scott’s alone time is cut short, as they receive word that Cleo (Nadine Mulkerrin) is headed back home. When she arrives, she attempts to kiss Mitchell, but he pushes her away — and she notices his odd behaviour.

She confides in Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) about Mitchell’s lack of interest in her, and — this conversation proves rather useful — as Cleo devises a way of putting the spark back in their relationship.

However, things don’t go according to plan — and Mitchell later admits to Scott that sleeping with Cleo would feel like he’s cheating on Anita, and thus he decides to break up with Cleo as a result.

Later in the week, Mitchell and Anita sneak into the florist — but they’ve no idea of the dangers that are lurking outside. Yes, Cindy Cunningham’s (Stephanie Waring) building work spirals out of control, as Breda (Moya Brady) crashes into the cranes — which results in a crack being formed in the village floor. Matters are then made worse, as Luke (Gary Lucy) gets involved in the commotion.

Scott and Anita realise what’s going on when they set their sights upon the emergency services, and thus they attempt to get out of dodge. However, this proves difficult, as the door is jammed shut!

Will the pair be able to escape in time?

Or will they become victims of the wreckage?

Georgia Adamson plays Karen
Karen loses it with John (Picture: Channel 5)

Dean’s (Patrick O’Connor) mum, Karen (Georgia Adamson), has recently been discharged from the mental health facility, and she’s trying to settle into a life and routine in the Bay so she can be near her son. After overcoming the hurdle of discovering Mackenzie (Emily Weir) is Rick Booth’s (Mark Lee) daughter, she’s managed to bag a trial at Salt.

Karen is nervous on the day of her trial, and is disappointed when she finds out Dean won’t be on shift at the same time. It doesn’t take long for her to feel overwhelmed with the ordering system, as she isn’t used to using high-tech options to send orders to the kitchen.

Her self confidence starts to suffer after she mixes up an order, and Mac steps in to take over. When Mac tells Karen to take out the garbage, Karen watches Dean with Ziggy (Sophie Dillman), and starts to feel even more distant from her son and his clearly happy, settled life.

Karen and Dean
Karen wants to settle in with Dean (Picture: Channel 5)

She then starts to feel unwell from the side effects of her medication, but is too scared to tell Mac she needs time out, so tries to plough through. When she makes another mistake by spilling some food on John (Shane Withington), he ends up making a huge fuss. Completely overwhelmed, Karen snaps and dumps a drink on his head!

Dean is appalled at his mother’s behaviour, and as he scolds her, she collapses. When Karen comes around, Dean is anything but sympathetic, saying that she was putting it on for attention. Despite insisting that’s not what happened, Dean doesn’t believe her, so she storms out.

Later on, Dean is confronted by Ziggy, who has been speaking to Dr Alex (Zoe Ventoura). The two women tell him that Karen’s medication does come with serious side effects, and explains that fainting could well happen as a result of her stress levels. Dean soon realises he’s made a terrible mistake…

EastEnders spoilers: Dotty Cotton splits up Tiffany Butcher and Keegan Baker?

Dotty winds up Keegan in EastEnders
(Picture: BBC)

After a decade away, Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) returned in EastEnders several weeks back, and — although there was a bit of a question mark over what her motives for being back in the Square truly are — it appears as if she will be getting up to her old tricks after all, as she causes trouble for Keegan Baker (Zack Morris) in the coming episodes.

Several weeks ago, Dot (June Brown) surprised everyone when she returned unannounced with granddaughter Dotty — aka Kirsty — in tow. While Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) and Stuart (Ricky Champ) were pleased to see the Walford icon back on the Square, Tiffany (Maisie Smith) was less than pleased with Dotty’s return, as she knew it could only spell trouble.

Dotty causes trouble in EastEnders
(Picture: BBC)

Thus far, it’s been rather hard to gauge what Dotty’s motives for being back in the Square are, and it would certainly seem like she’s matured quite a bit over the past decade, but her true colours could be set to come to light, as she causes problems in the coming episodes when she tries to sabotage Keegan’s business.

Following the incident with Dotty, Ian (Adam Woodyatt) — who’s kitchen Keegan has been working out of — encourages the young man to give up. But whether or not he does so remains to be seen.

Later in the week, Tiffany’s fuming when she discovers what Dotty did, and wastes little time in confronting her.

But what will Dotty have to say for herself?

It’s clear from her actions that she’s trying to cause trouble for Keegan, but given than her and Tiff haven’t exactly got off on the right foot, could she perhaps be trying to split the happy couple up?

Or will there be a perfectly reasonable explanation for her actions?

Coronation Street spoilers: David Platt and Shona Ramsey face devastating wedding drama

Shona and David in Coronation Street

David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) has got plenty to deal with in Coronation Street, but matters are about to get a whole lot worse for him, as he finds himself the prime suspect of the attempted murder investigation into the prison riot which saw Josh (Ryan Clayton) get stabbed. The news of him being charged devastates Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding), who now fears that he won’t be released in time for their wedding.

The police question David about the attack on Josh, and — while doing so — they show him the video footage from the incident, which shows David nearby Josh with scissors.

In spite of the evidence stacked against him, David claims that he’s innocent — and it’s clear that he’s worried about whether or not the officers will believe him.

Meanwhile, at the Platt household, Shona (Julia Goulding) informs both Gail (Helen Worth) and Sarah (Tina O’Brien) that the balance of money is due today for the wedding venue which her and David were hoping to use for their big day, but — as there’s no guarantee that David will be out of prison in time — she’s unsure of how to proceed.

However, her dreams of David being released in time for the wedding are ultimate dashed, as she receives a text from Imran (Charlie de Melo) which informs her that David has been charged with attempted murder.

As a result, Shona, Gail, Sarah, and Nick (Ben Price) all attend David’s hearing in the Magistrate’s Court. David, Abe and Tez all plead not guilty to the attempted murder of Josh, but — in spite of this — David is refused bail and remanded in custody until the trial.

However, Shona’s hopeful once more about David possibly being released in time for the wedding when Imran later informs her that Josh has regained consciousness.

The question is: what will the rapist have to say for himself?

Could his words be enough to clear David’s name so that he can get out of prison in time to enjoy his happy day with Shona?

Emmerdale spoilers: Nate Robinson’s mum Cara arrives to reunite with Cain Dingle?

Cain Dingle and Nate Robinson in Emmerdale
(Picture: ITV)

Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) may well be in for a blast from the past as Emmerdale fans are expecting to soon meet Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) mum Cara – but what will she have to say to Cain if she does turn up? And what will it mean for the future of Cain and his estranged wife Moira (Natalie J Robb)?

While no announcement has been made that Cara is being cast or there is an arrival planned, viewers are surmising that there is a long way to go with this story and it would be a wasted opportunity to start this storyline without exploring it fully – especially as it has cost us the Coira partnership.

At the moment, Cain detests Nate and can’t accept him as his blood, seeing as Nate rocked up filled with hate and ideas of revenge and deliberately set out to seduce Moira. With an affair following, Cain’s life and marriage are in ruins.

And Nate isn’t particularly keen on Cain either seeing as he feels abandoned by his long lost dad – who he has been brought up thinking never wanted anything to do with him. He has since learned that Cain didn’t actually know he existed thanks to the interference of Faith (Sally Dexter) but there are still a lot of unresolved feelings.

Nate has kept it to himself where Cara is right now and what her life is like but it seems likely that she may well turn up in Emmerdale – given their history and the fact that they have a son together, could she end up reuniting with Cain? Stranger things have happened…

And a reunion for Cain and Moira certainly seems off the cards as next week will see Cain get rid of his wedding ring, shattering Moira’s hopes that there is any chance of them sorting things out.

The Archers catch-up: Joe Grundy’s brother Alf in shock return – lock up Joe’s funeral collection

The Archers
We are taking bets on how long it will be before the One For Joe collection fund at The Bull vanishes

Alf Grundy’s back and he wants you to buy him a pint.

Yes, Joe Grundy’s death has brought with it more than one downside – the main one being his good-for-nothing son Alf.

Not seen since he relieved the church of its collection money and bolted, he rolled up on Friday with a car full of plastic bin liners and the immortal words, ‘I see you’ve got the beers in’.

He managed to drive both Will and Ed out of the family home within the first few minutes – and Clarrielove is already wondering how she’s going to cope with him for three more weeks.

Yes, the funeral is three WEEKS away. That’s a long time to keep the body fresh, but plenty of time for Alf to get his feet under the table and really cause some trouble.

Toby had better keep an eye on that One For Joe wake collection at The Bull – our money’s on that being the first thing to go, if it’s not nailed down.

The second thing to go will be Alf himself.

Talking of things that have gone missing, Peggy’s beside herself after Hilda goes missing during an unwanted visit from Joy Horville. As Joy invites herself in for a cup of tea and bends Peggy’s ear over Rochelle’s latest news, Hilda takes the only way out – she bolts out, not to be seen again.

Tony’s searching the garden, Josh has put posts out on social media and there are posters around Ambridge – but Hilda is not coming back.

Peggy can’t help but blame Joy for driving Hilda away and is full of nothing but venom for the garrulous do-gooder but Pat is sympathetic – she thinks Joy’s just lonely.

Let’s see how she feels about it when she’s had her own Rochelle-themed monologue.

IS 6 MONTHS TOO QUICK FOR SOMEONE WHO IS DEPRESSED TO COME OFF THEIR MEDS?

Elizabeth has quit counselling – she went for her last session and has come off her anti-depressants.

The storyline has attracted some criticism for being unrealistic – some comments on social media have said that it’s too fast and gives those suffering ‘real mental illness’ false hope.

Experts have joined the conversation to say that actually, 6 months on anti-depressants is very normal, as long as the patient believes it is enough, and particularly if the episode of depression was caused or triggered by a set of events that have been fixed or addressed adequately.

In Elizabeth’s case, the depression was triggered by a series of life events – primarily, Freddie going to jail, then exacerbated by Lily going off to uni with Russ and with the backdrop of long unresolved grief around the death of husband Nigel.

With Freddie and Lily back and doing well and therapy for anxiety and depression also addressing her bereavement and the anger, guilt and loss she felt around that, she was in a good place for the medication to give her brain chemistry the reboot it needed while talking therapy and a restructuring of her work and home life gave her the support required to give her confidence, stability and the feeling she could cope again with life’s demands.

In those circumstances, it is perfectly reasonable to hope that Elizabeth should feel prepared to taper her meds after 6 months.

She has a support network in place and if she experiences a relapse or even wobbles, she knows where to go.

The cast of Coronation Street braved the bad weather as they filmed scenes in a downpour.

The actors were on location in Manchester when the sky opened up.

But the show must go on and the soap stars made their way through the heavy rain by covering up with large coats and umbrellas.

Actor Bill Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, gamely got to work with a blue waterproof over his head.

He was joined on set by a handful of his co-stars including Lisa George (Beth), Sally Dyvenor (Sally), Alison King (Carla) Sam Aston (Chesney) and Colson Smith (Craig).

Andy Whyment (Kirk), Chris Gascoigne and Rob Mallard (Daniel) were also there on the day walking through the driving rain holding coats over themselves.

It comes as the Met Office issued a Yellow warning for Greater Manchester, with heavy rain causing road closures and flooding recently.

However according to Manchester Evening News, things are set to ease off over the weekend.

All the cast members were suited and booted for the scenes, with many wearing a colourful brooch pinned on their clothes.

Actor Daniel Brocklebank, who plays Billy on the show, was also on location wearing Billy’s vicar’s dog collar and shirt, suggesting that whatever was being filmed takes place in a church.

As star Kym Marsh (Michelle) was recently spotted filming in a wedding dress ahead of her exit from the soap, it’s possible that Michelle’s big day was continuing.

However given the recent, sad death of Sinead (Katie McGlynn) on the show, and the presence of the entire Barlow family on set, there’s a chance that this could be the first look at scenes from Sinead’s funeral.

It could go some way to explaining why many cast members were wearing brooches, as a likely tribute to the factory worker.

Or given that Chesney and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) want to make a proper go of things, maybe we’re looking at the first scenes from their big day? Sam Aston is looking very smiley after all…

Following Sinead tragic death, leaving behind Daniel and their baby son Bertie, upcoming episodes will see Daniel struggle to organise the funeral.

Wanting to get away from the Street for a while, Daniel announces to his family that he is going to take Bertie to Scotland for a while for a break.

Raffy leaves the Bay (Picture: Channel 5)

Raffy (Olivia Deeble) has been struggling to find a solution for managing her epilepsy after discovering the medicinal cannabis trial she was on had to be pulled due to lack of funding. With her studies starting to severely suffer and her future looking a lot less bright, Raffy is close to breaking point when Dr Alex (Zoe Ventoura) mentions there is another trial starting up in Victoria.

Justin (James Stewart) is reluctant to let her go on it until he speaks more with Dr Alex – and also Brody (Jackson Heywood). He then returns to his little sister and says that if she’s accepted onto the trial, she can go and live with Brody and Simone (Emily Eskell).

The teen’s luck starts to turn around as Raffy excitedly announces she’s been accepted, and Justin is overjoyed that she will be able to start getting back on the right path with her life. Raffy is nervous about how to tell Marilyn (Emily Symons) and John (Shane Withington) she’s leaving, but Justin says they’ll do it together.

Marilyn is upset that Raffy is leaving (Picture: Channel 5)

While Maz and John are genuinely happy for Raffy, Marilyn lets the act of pure happiness drop once Raffy has left and lets her devastation trickle in. She’s heartbroken that her foster daughter is leaving, especially after Jett recently left the Bay to build a new life in the city.

Meanwhile, Ryder (Lukas Radovich) is also shaken to find that his best friend is leaving, but Raffy reassures him they will still be mates. As the trial is starting soon, Raffy leaves in the afternoon, being congratulated by Mason (Orpheus Pledger) as she prepares to go. Everyone gathers around her as she says goodbye, and she waves from the car as Justin drives her to the airport.

However, while Raffy is clearly overjoyed to be starting a new chapter in life, Marilyn and John are devastated that she didn’t even say goodbye properly. The pair have had barely any time to wrap their heads around the fact Raffy is leaving, and all of a sudden she’s simply disappeared without acknowledging them….

Coronation Street spoilers: Gary Windass to destroy lives in winter of revenge and passion

Gary Maria and Sarah in Coronation Street
(Picture: ITV)

Gary Windass (Mikey North) is set to spend this winter doing what he does best – causing chaos and turning lives upside down. The Coronation Street villain is set to target his enemies Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) and Ali Neeson (James Burrows) in a dangerous game of cat and mouse which he is determined to win.

The ruthless local has made some strong adversaries since turning to the dark side – and now he aims to destroy the relationship Adam has with Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) as well as bringing him down along with Ali, who has also recently become suspicious of Gary.

Meanwhile, as Ali harbours feelings for Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon), Gary also has his eye on the stylist and, as she gets drawn into his web and falls for him, a passionate ever could land her in serious danger.

Mikey North said: ‘Gary is losing the plot a little bit. He is unstable and out of control so whatever he gets up to next, nothing would surprise me. It will be interesting to see whether or not Gary and Maria are with the wrong people.

Gary flirts with Maria in Coronation Street
(Picture: ITV)

‘Maybe Gary does want to be with Sarah and Maria does want to be with Ali, that may be the thing but time will tell. But Gary and Maria have got a lot of stuff to come, it will be interesting to see whether this is going to alienate Maria from the street as Gary is not the most popular person right now. He does mean well with Maria and he loves his kids, he’s not all bad!’

A Corrie spokesperson teased: ‘There are tumultuous times ahead for both Adam and Sarah and Ali and Maria as Gary threatens to destroy both relationships, taking Adam and Ali down in the process. After losing Sarah to Adam, Gary is determined to take his revenge, and when Adam starts prying into Gary’s dodgy dealings Gary decides it’s time he took him down a peg or two.

‘Gary may still have feelings for Sarah, and be burdened by guilt, but she crossed him and left him with nothing. The former squaddie’s life has taken a turn since then but a scorned Gary makes a very dangerous enemy and Adam needs to watch his back.

‘Revenge isn’t the only thing on Gary’s mind, he’s looking for love again and when he sets his sights on Maria it soon becomes clear he’ll stop at nothing to get what he wants. Maria and Ali’s relationship hasn’t been plain sailing and spotting signs of weakness Gary steps in and makes his move.

‘Unaware of Gary’s darker side Maria’s flattered by the attention, seeing Gary only as a businessman and a great father to Jake. Like Adam, Ali has his suspicions about Gary’s sudden turn of fortune but will he be able to warn Maria before she steps into the lion’s den and does a deal with the devil?’

It sounds like several people will need to watch their backs – but who will come out on top?

Ruby and Mel in EastEnders
(Picture: BBC)

Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) has been busy getting revenge on the Mitchells in EastEnders and, in the coming episodes, she goes behind business partner Sharon’s (Letitia Dean) back and proceeds to make Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) a shock offer. The question is: is it one that she’ll be able to refuse?

Ever since Phil (Steve McFadden) attempted to stop her from arranging Hunter’s funeral, Mel has been hellbent on bringing the Mitchells down, and — since discovering her secret affair with Keanu (Danny Walters) — Sharon has become her primary target.

The Mitchell matriarch has been off in Portugal trying to acquire a villa for her, but — in the coming episodes — she returns home, which makes it the perfect time for Mel to start causing more trouble for her.

Upon Sharon’s return, Mel invites Ruby to E20 and offers her first refusal to buy the club. Ruby’s taken aback, but she senses that Sharon has doubts about selling, and thus she’s not sure how to proceed. However, Mel reassures the young woman that Sharon definitely will be willing to sell — something that she’ll no doubt see to personally, as — later — she threatens Sharon to do as she says.

Later in the week, Ruby discusses Mel’s proposition further, but when she pays Sharon a visit, conflict ensues when the Mitchell matriarch disputes the amount offered on the club.

Will Ruby get the club?

She certainly seems keen, but — with Mel and Sharon’s feud reaching boiling point — what Ruby wants is likely the last thing on either of the Walford icons’ minds.

Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell) has had a lot to deal with in Coronation Street this past year —between the death of her dad to discovering that her real father is none other than Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) — but could the young woman be set to lose her life after she suddenly collapses?

In the coming episodes, Emma shows up for work, but she’s not feeling too great — as she has a pain in her side. As a result, Maria (Samia Longchambon) asks Ali (James Burrows) if he’d take a look at her, but — what with him having just discovered that Maria’s arranged to go on a date with Gary (Mikey North) — he proves unhelpful, and informs Emma that she’s more than likely got food poisoning.

Still feeling unwell, Emma heads home and gets into bed.

However, things take a turn for Emma and — later — Maria and Gary find her lying unconscious on the floor of the flat. They proceed to call an ambulance.

At the hospital, the doctors inform Steve that Emma has a ruptured appendix and will need an emergency operation.

Will Emma pull through?

When Steve learns that Ali did little to help, he’s fuming, and — with emotions running high — he accuses the doctor of medical negligence.

Gary Windass in Coronation Street

Gary Windass (Mikey North) has growing ever so close to Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) in Coronation Street over the last couple of weeks, but Ali Neeson (James Burrows) has proven to be a thorn in his side. However, he sets about rectifying the situation in the coming episodes, as he digs the dirt on the local doc.

It’s become pretty clear over the last couple of months that Gary has set his sights on Maria. However, her history with Ali has somewhat prevented him from being able to take his developing feelings one step further, and thus he’s determined to do something about it.

Coronation Street has revealed that — in the coming episodes — Gary gets his PI on the case, so that he can find out something about Ali. The PI later reports back to his boss with knowledge that Ali has been missing shifts at work, and has been acting rather odd as of late.

With his interest piqued, Gary then asks the PI to investigate further and, afterwards, he discovers that a hospital pharmacist was arrested for stealing — and supplying — drugs.

Gary sets about finding said drug dealer — who goes by the name of Big Farmer — and once he locates him, he drags him into the furniture shop and demands that he reveal everything there is to know about Ali.

The question is: will Big Farmer reveal the truth and thus give Gary the leverage he needs?

It’s a possibility, but Gary had better not underestimate Ali, as the doc makes a discovery himself, when he reveals the he’s in possession of Gary’s ledger, before threatening to inform to Maria that he’s operating as a loan shark.

With both men seemingly desperate to get dirt on the other, who will get the upper hand?

Gary’s on a mission, and we know that his dark side isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, so Ali could be in danger.

Coronation Street continues Monday 28thNovember at 7:30pm on ITV.

It’s been a tough couple of months for Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) in Coronation Street, as she’s been having to look after the kids on her own what with David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) behind bars. Of course, matters were made worse when David was accused of stabbing Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton), but will he be released in time for his wedding to Shona? That, is — if there even is a wedding left to be released for!

Shona has been holding out hope that David will be released in time for the pair’s upcoming wedding ceremony. However, the odds of such a turn of events happening became much slimmer when Josh was stabbed in prison during a riot — and David became the prime suspect in the investigation into the incident.

Shona’s adamant that her wedding will still go ahead, but Coronation Street has revealed that she’s left devastated in the coming episodes she discovers that Gail (Helen Worth) has taken it upon herself to cancel the wedding on their behalf.

Meanwhile, Nick (Ben Price) informs Imran (Charlie de Melo) of his plan to visit Josh in hospital, but — while doing so — he’ll masquerade as the young man’s solicitor. However, a suspicious Billy (Daniel Brockelbank) later cops on to his odd behaviour, and enquires what he’s up to.

Will Nick’s plan prove successful, or will Billy get in his way?

Later in the week, Shona informs Gail and Sarah that David is hopeful he’ll be released in time — which means the wedding is officially back on.

The question is: will David be released without charge regarding Josh’s stabbing? Or will he be forced to miss his big day due to the ongoing investigation?

Coronation Street continues Monday 28thNovember at 7:30pm on ITV.

EastEnders star John Altman quit when writers wanted Nick Cotton to be gay

EastEnders star John Altman has revealed the reason for Nick Cotton’s original exit from the show – as he has recounted a showdown he had with a producer over plans to write in a gay relationship for the character.

Villainous Nick was one of the show’s original characters and John has argued that the storyline would not have been a good fit for the Albert Square killer – but he added that when he refused to do it, it meant the end for his time in the soap for a good while.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he explained: ‘They tried to make Nick Cotton gay, it was years ago now. I went in there straight, and so did the other guy, Lofty, who was a bit of a loveable bozo in the early days.

‘Anyway, they suddenly decided that he weren’t gay, they were gonna make him gay, and I didn’t think that was a good idea as it would’ve changed Nick’s character completely, really. So I went to the producer, I said, “I hear you’ve got this idea, but I don’t think it will work,” and she said, “Well, write him out,” and I walked away. She was really harsh.

‘But, I went back. I was just written out for that period. If I’d have gone in playing a gay character, fine. But to suddenly make the character … I dunno, to me, as an actor, it would’ve been wrong. I don’t think the public would’ve wanted it either.’

Nick was central to some of EastEnders’ darkest storylines, including the murder of Eddie Royle, several schemes to murder his own mum Dot (June Brown), accidentally causing the death of his son Ashley and holding the customers of the cafe hostage.

He was eventually killed off for good 2015, ironically at the hands of Dot, the ma he tried and failed to finish off so many times.

Darren Osbourne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) had everything he could want in Hollyoaks, what with Mandy Richardson (Sarah Jayne Dunn) by his side and baby DJ in his life. However, his world came crashing down last week when he made the shocking discovery that DJ isn’t actually his child, but rather he’s actually Luke Morgan’s (Gary Lucy). Tonight, he sets about confronting Mandy with his discovery.

Baby DJ’s christening arrived during the latest episode, and Darren and Mandy were on cloud nine. Darren had invited Luke to the ceremony, but — unbeknown to him — Luke was harbouring a big secret, after Ollie (Aedan Duckworth) had revealed to him that he was in fact DJ’s father, and not Darren.

Ollie was hellbent on tracking Luke down but, little did he know Luke was at the christening. As Luke pondered what to do for the best, he ultimately decided against revealing the truth as he didn’t want to break-up the family, but — as he held the child in his arms — he talked about how he was going to give up the chance to be a dad to him so that he could have a proper family with Mandy and Darren.

However, unbeknown to Luke, Darren was outside the church and overheard everything.

Tonight, Darren disappears and Mandy searches high and low to try and track him down. However, it comes to light that he’s been staying with Nancy (Jessica Fox) and Kyle (Adam Rickitt) — something which leaves Kyle questioning why Nancy’s being so friendly towards her ex.

Later, Darren takes it upon himself to confront Mandy with his discovery, and claims that she knew he wasn’t DJ’s father this whole time. Mandy is stunned by what Darren has to say, and promises him that this is the first she’s heard of it.

Will Mandy and Darren be able to get through this together? Or will Darren struggle to come to terms with the fact the isn’t DJ’s biological dad?

What’s more, with a big stunt week ahead, could Mandy or Darren find themselves in danger before they get to talk things through?

Hollyoaks kicks off its huge stunt week tonight at 7pm on E4.
