Have Brian and Bernie wandered into their own doom?

Geoff’s lies exposed

Leanne’s trauma

Life is seeming pretty hopeless for Leanne right now as she tries her very best to deal with the trauma of Oliver’s terminal illness.

She has a devastating journey ahead into a future that is going to leave her tortured – can Toyah and Nick keep her from heading over the edge? And what will it mean for Toyah and Imran’s fostering hope?

Sarah tempted again?

Sparks seem set to fly between Sarah and Gary again as the pair rediscover their chemistry, especially with Sarah having caught Adam flirting with Laura.

But as Sarah grows closer to her dangerous ex, will she make a mistake that will cost her her marriage?

A horror stunt

Lives will be on the line in a shocking turn of events on the Street as two major characters find themselves in the path of an oncoming vehicle.

As one leaps to rescue the other, there could be dire consequences which completely change an ongoing playing field.

Johnny’s secret past

The arrival of Scott and his behaviour towards Johnny and Carla has raised a lot of questions for Corrie fans – just who is this mysterious face from Johnny’s past and what does he want?

Pretty soon Johnny will return to face the music, and shocking truths will come to light…

A big decision for Abi

With Abi discovering that her twins are emigrating with their adoptive parents, her world is thrown into chaos and she is forced to reflect on her decisions as a mother.

While she is left to decide whether she can bear to say goodbye, the agony of her mistakes threatens to tip her over the edge. But which unlikely saviour might come to her aid – and at what cost?

A dramatic development for Billy

Billy is set to be confronted by a face from his past which will kick off a dramatic storyline for him – but what impact will it have on his relationship with Paul?

As a turn of events leaves Billy stunned, what shock lies in store for him?

Can Nicky cope with Daniel?

Daniel’s reliance on Nicky will continue to grow as it becomes increasingly clear that he is using her as a crutch to deal with his grief over Sinead.

But when things become even more intense, can Nicky cope with the situation or will she have to be cruel to be kind?

Ed and Aggie face the pressure

Ed is worried as Aggie continues to work hard against the pandemic in her nursing role and he wants to make a gesture to show his appreciation for her.

But when the situation has a direct impact on their anniversary, Ed realises that he is going to have to be inventive.

Coronation Street spoilers: Who is Scott and what does he want with Johnny and Carla?

Coronation Street - Carla Connor, Scott and Johnny Connor
(Pictures: ITV)

All we really know for certain about B&B resident Scott (Tom Roberts) in Coronation Street is that he’s a pretty perfect guest who pays his bill on time, and is quite friendly with the Weatherfield residents and has some sort of issue with Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley).

One thing’s for certain though, and that’s that nothing gets past the Corrie viewers and not long after Scott made himself comfortable in his room in the Rovers Return and began flirting with Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard), speculation started as to just who Scott is.

We know Scott first arrived in April, he has had some sort of run in with Johnny Connor in the past, and gets on well with Carla Connor (Alison King) despite them not knowing each other – or do they?

We’re scratching our heads as much as you are as to who Scott is, so we’ve decided to put all the theories (fan theories and our own!) into this article and see if we can get any closer to Scott’s true identity.

Why don’t Scott and Johnny get on?

Pretty much as soon as Scott stepped foot into the Rovers, Johnny decided it was a perfect time to pack him and Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) a suitcase and visit Eva (Catherine Tyldesley) in France. To Jenny, Johnny had merely decided it was time to visit Eva and his granddaughter but to the viewers, it looked a lot like Johnny was running away from Scott.

This of course begs the question: why is Johnny scared of Scott? It certainly takes a lot to scare Johnny, so what is the secret the two of them are hiding? We recently saw Scott somewhat annoyed at the fact that Johnny had chosen to stay in France after Jenny returned – could Johnny be hiding such a life changing secret that means it’s easier to run away from the problem instead of face it head on?

Is he Carla’s real dad?

Top of the theory list for us is whether Scott is Carla’s real dad. Back when Johnny first arrived on the cobbles, one of his main storylines was trying to establish whether Carla was his daughter or not. After a visit to prison to see Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) who said that Johnny was Carla’s dad, he organised a paternity test which confirmed Rob’s comments. One major thing about that storyline is that Rob attempted to blackmail Johnny and said to pay him £10,000 in return for his silence on the matter. There’s something between Johnny and Scott, and could it be that the DNA test was sabotaged in someway? And it was actually Scott’s DNA that matched Carla’s instead of Johnny’s?

This DNA testing was 5 years ago, so if Scott is Carla’s real dad, why has he turned up now?

Is he another relation to Carla?

Carla and Scott in Coronation Street
(Picture: ITV)

Even though many Corrie fans think Scott is Carla’s dad, we’re wondering if it may be a red herring, and he is actually another relation to Carla. A brother Carla never knew about? A cousin? This theory only brings us back to our previous question though: why has Scott chosen to turn up at the Rovers now?

Is he another relation to Johnny?

One reason why this undiscovered tension between Johnny and Scott exists could be that Scott is related to Johnny somehow. We really like the thought of Scott being Johnny’s brother and therefore Carla’s uncle, and Scott in the past has tried to act as a positive male influence for Carla and it maybe never worked out. If Scott knows Johnny was never in Carla’s life when she was younger, is he trying to be that protective father figure Carla has never had?

Is he a relation to Carla’s mum?

We don’t know a great deal about Carla’s mum, Sharon Donovan. She has never been on screen, she died in 2011, and was a drug dealer with a drink problem. Scott has already mentioned that he knew Carla’s mum, could he be a relation to Sharon? Carla was never close to her mum, but if Scott knows more about Sharon’s life, it could offer closure for Carla, and also allow her to learn just how her mum died…

Is he the owner of the squat Carla stayed in?

A bruised and scraped hand allowed us to learn that it was Scott who attacked Carla’s tormentors Chelsey (Isobella Hubbard) and Jordan (James Boyland). If Scott is the owner of the squat Carla stayed in when she was mentally unwell, he could’ve recognised that Carla was vulnerable and got rid of Chelsey and Jordan for the benefit of Carla and her mental health. This theory could also link with him being a relation of Carla’s, and knowing her mum. Maybe Carla’s mum got herself in a similar situation and Scott wasn’t able to help, so attacked Chesley and Jordan so the same thing wouldn’t happen to Carla?

Is he someone Carla’s mum was seeing?

From what we know, Sharon Donovan’s life wasn’t a happy or an easy one. Scott’s identity could well be that he was someone Carla’s mum was seeing. Scott certainly has an angry side to him as told by him being the one who attacked Carla’s blackmailers, but could Scott actually be a lot darker than we think? It’s possible that Johnny witnessed something horrific between Scott and Sharon back in the day, but why has Johnny ran away to France if this is the case?

In tonight’s episode Peter (Chris Gascoyne) asks for Jenny’s opinion on Scott and wonders what his history with Johnny is but much to Peter’s frustration, it would seem all Jenny cares about is that Scott remains the model B&B guest who pays his bill promptly.

This week we saw Peter mention Carla’s in the doghouse with Tracy (Kate Ford) for buying Amy (Elle Mulvaney) some expensive trainers and Scott is quick to criticise Peter for not taking the rap for Carla. There’s certainly that defensive mechanism there that comes from some sort of family bond, but which is it? Father? Uncle? Cousin? And whoever Scott is, how will the inevitable reveal affect Carla?

Coronation Street has revealed that actress Rachel Leskovac has reprised her role as Natasha Blakeman.

Viewers will remember that Natasha — who’d been in a relationship with Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) — departed the cobbles a decade ago.

Nick is currently struggling to come to terms with Oliver having been diagnosed with mitochondrial disease, but life is set to get a lot more complicated for the young man when he bumps into Natasha.

Yes, he encounters Natasha by chance during a visit to the hospital, and it will inevitably put strain on his already fragile relationship with Leanne (Jane Danson).

Both have been struggling with Oliver’s diagnosis, and Nick has been finding it hard to know how to help Leanne.

(Picture: ITV)

As Oliver’s stepdad, he’ll continue to feel increasingly sidelined as Leanne and Steve (Simon Gregson) are forced to make difficult decisions about Oliver’s treatment.

On her return, Rachel said: ‘Rachel said: ‘I am very excited and proud to be welcomed back to Coronation Street, especially as so many old friends are still there. It’s always great to be able to return to a character to explore a whole new path for them.’

Natasha was last seen in 2010, when — after a relationship with Nick — she discovered that she was pregnant.

She informed Nick about the pregnancy, but he didn’t want to know, and she later had an abortion.

However, Nick later came round to the idea of being a dad, and Natasha kept hidden the fact that she’d had an abortion — but he later discovered the truth via mum Gail (Helen Worth).

What will Natasha’s return bring to the cobbles?

Coronation Street’s Shelley King reveals she ‘cannot wait’ to return

Coronation Street’s Shelley King cannot wait to return to the cobbles.

The 64-year-old has been confronted with a difficult storyline, seeing her take her character Yasmeen through a domestic abuse case.

However, despite being left exhausted by the plot after giving it her all, it seems the actress is biting at the champ to get back to Weatherfield.

When appearing on Lorraine today, the soapie turned her attention to Geoff star Ian Bartholomew, and said: ‘We love each other, and we both have the humour of a 14-year-old boy and he is desperate to have it back.

‘We’ve had a great time, we spent two years [on the story arc] – the element of trust that’s needed is enormous and fortunately we get on like a house on fire.

‘I cannot wait to go back, I haven’t been on the street for a bit so.’

Shelley then spoke about the plot, which has seen Yasmeen end up in jail after being abused by her husband Geoff.

‘This story has been working for around two years now, and all the people who have suffered this problem have sometimes been in relationships up to 30 years.

‘That’s 30 years of torture and self-doubt as they’re coerced into believing everything is their fault.

‘So, I want to thank all the people at Corrie for looking at this with much care.’

The actress went on: ‘These things, you’re seeing, they only appear for three or four minutes at the scene.

Geoff and Sally in Coronation Street
She praised her co-star Ian Bartholomew (Picture: ITV)

‘The stabbing scene, that took two days to do – so everyone has to concentrate not just myself but the cameraman and the makeup team we all have to be on the ball and in the moment.

‘And remember the lives of those who have spoken to us about their journeys and their stories.’

She noted: ‘It has been quite a time, it really has.

‘It is often the case, you know, that the victim whether that victim is a man or a woman, there is a reversal of this case, but people who are the abusers often choose strong people because they are attracted to the strength they’re not strong.

‘They need to be persuaded and need constant approval of their worth.

‘So, Yasmeen was a perfect candidate for this storyline, and I’m so glad that we could continue to do it.’

Days of Our Lives star Kristian Alfonso
Kristian Alfonso shocked fans after she revealed she has quit Days of Our Lives (Picture: NBC)

Days of Our Lives fans were shocked when Kristian Alfonso revealed she has chosen to leave the soap after 37 years.

The actress played Hope Williams Brady on the NBC daytime drama but she won’t be returning to the set when production resumes in September.

Speaking about her decision in a chat with Entertainment Tonight, the actress explained she had been toying with the idea of leaving and finally took the plunge due to an upcoming storyline.

Days executive producer Ken Corday had told her that Hope was being written off for 5 months and would then come back as a Navy Seal.

Alfonso stated: ‘And at that moment I thought to myself, you know what, it’s time for a change, and it was the perfect moment to make that decision.

‘I was taken aback when he said that they wanted, he and [co-EP] Albert [Alarr] wanted to take me off camera for four to five months. It was not something that had ever been discussed but that’s what it was…’

The 56-year-old continued: ‘I just thought, you know what, it’s time to really write a new chapter. I’ve had an incredible run there.’

The actress admitted she isn’t sure how Hope will get written now that the coronavirus pandemic stopped her filming the originally planned storyline.

She knows that Days has episodes which feature Alfonso that can run through to the beginning of October.

Alfonson explained: ‘In the storyline, I still have scripts that were supposed to be shot.

‘Of course, everything is being probably rewritten because of COVID and guidelines that they have to adhere to. But that was not supposed to be the end.’

Alfonso confirmed she won’t be making guest appearances in the future and said they will not be recasting her character.

Days of Our Lives airs weekdays at 1pm (ET) on NBC.

As fans mourn her loss, here’s what you need to know about the character she was most famous for…

Who did Paula Tilbrook play on Emmerdale?

Paula played Betty Eagleton on Emmerdale from 1994 until 2015, when Pauta retired.

When fans look back on her time on the soap, it’s often Betty’s relationship Seth Armstrong (Stan Richards), which stands out the most, as it’s widely thought to be one of the best in Emmerdale history.

Outside of Emmerdale, Paula played various roles on Coronation Street, including Vivienne Barford from 1991 until 1993.

In 1979 she appeared in Tales of the Unexpected, and she had roles in Open All Hours and Last of the Summer Wine.

Cain and Moira in Emmerdale

Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) awoke from surgery with a smile on her face in Emmerdale, as she overheard Cain (Jeff Hordley) reveal just how much she means to him.

Cain has feared the worst since discovering that Moira was the victim of the hit-and-run, and he’s been by her side every step of the way.

While viewers know full well just how much Moira means to him, Cain’s been unable to admit such a thing, but an altercation with Nate (Jurrell Carter) made him realise how much he still loves her.

Matty (Ash Palmisciano) rang Cain to inform him that Moira was out of surgery and that eveything had gone as planned.

Cain was emotional as a result, and headed down to the hospital to see her.

As Moira woke up, she asked Matty if Cain was present, and the young man was forced to say no, but little did he know the mechanic was lingering outside.

After Matty departed, Cain sneaked in to Moira’s room and pulled up a chair.

He thanked her for being so strong and pulling through not only for the boys, but also for him, as he doesn’t know what he’d do without her.

After he headed off, it came to light that Moira had overheard his speech, and she was incredibly touched and emotional — realising that Cain is still very much in love with her.

Will the pair reconcile?

Is a reunion on the cards?

Geoff and Yasmeen in Coronation Street
(Picture: ITV)

Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) apologised for abusing Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) in Coronation Street in a bid to win her back, but will he succeed in doing so?

Geoff was worried about what may or may not be exposed about him during a trial, and with Sally (Sally Dynevor) on Yasmeen’s side, he decided to manipulate the situation to his advantage once again.

Yes, he stole Alya’s (Sair Khan) phone and intercepted a call with Yasmeen in the hopes of convincing her to return home as his wife.

In an effort to manipulate further, he attempted to have the charges against her dropped, which — if he’s successful — could mean that the trial won’t go ahead, which is something Yasmeen is seemingly hoping for.

During tonight’s episode, Yasmeen’s pal acquired her a secret phone, and she rang Geoff in an effort to find out what he was up to.

She bravely stood up to him, and refused to allow him to spin her any more lies, but the master manipulator told her exactly what she wanted to hear — promising to get help.

He claimed that Yasmeen being behind bars has shown him the error of his ways, and therefore he’s sorry for not being the man she deserved.

Yasmeen was incredibly confused, as she was forced to hang up due to an approaching prison guard, but has Geoff successfully manipulated her once more?

Will she return home and take him back?

Or is she fully aware of what he’s up to?

Cain and Moira in Emmerdale
Cain expressed his true feelings to Moira tonight (Picture: ITV)

Emmerdale fans are calling for Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) to get back together following emotional scenes in tonight’s episode as Moira recovered from surgery.

As we already know, Cain had feared the worst after he discovered Moira had been the victim of the hit-and-run, and he has continued to support her throughout her time in hospital.

Viewers have known how much Moira means to Cain, but he has been unable to express his true feelings.

In tonight’s instalment, a run-in with Nate (Jurrell Carter) made him realise how much he still loves her, and with Moira’s surgery proving to be successful, he later went to the hospital to see her.

As Moira began to wake up, she had asked Matty (Ash Palmisciano) if Cain was present, to which he said no. However, shortly after leaving, Cain later headed into Moira’s room, assuming she was still in a coma.

Cain thanked her for being so strong and pulling through not only for her boys, but also for him.

He later headed off, with Moira softly smiling, having heard his heartfelt speech.

One thing’s for certain, fans were touched by these scenes, with many suggesting that the two should become a couple once again.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: ‘Aw Moira, pretending to be asleep. At least now she FINALLY knows how Cain feels about her.

‘They absolutely HAVE to reunite sooner rather than later right?’

Another added: ‘I really hope Cain and Moira get back together. They are destined for each other.

‘Lockdown has taught Cain that he needs to fight for what he has got. Moira is all he has got. They always end up back together don’t they.’

While one particular viewer was all caught up in their feelings, as they tweeted: ‘Good god @emmerdale what are you doing to us… Cain Moira my emotions can’t keep up.’

Here’s hoping that the two will please fans by reconciling in the future – it’s what we all want after all.

Coronation Street viewers rage as Geoff gaslights Yasmeen yet again: ‘He deserves an Oscar in manipulation’

There’s been a new twist in Geoff and Yasmeen’s storyline on Corrie (Pictures: ITV/REX)

Coronation Street’s Geoff Metcalfe and Yasmeen Nazir certainly got viewers talking after tonight’s episode.

The characters, played by Ian Bartholomew and Shelley King respectively, were shown having a tense conversation over the phone, with poor Yasmeen speaking from prison.

She is of course charged with his attempted murder after attacking him – despite her suffering a long campaign of gaslighting and abuse at his hands.

Tonight, we saw Geoff try to regain control of Yasmeen yet again, telling her: ‘All I can guarantee is two things. If we still go to trial, you’ll be found not guilty. And when you come home, things will be different.’

To this, Yasmeen replies: ‘How can you possibly be that deluded Geoff? Even if I were to be released, and it’s a huge if, how can we find a way back together again?’

‘I love you, that’s how’ Geoff says, later adding: ‘I’m going to get some professional help’ and ‘I’ve obviously got issues.’

He then blames ex-wife Tessa for making him ‘despise myself,’ adding: ‘I’m sorry for not being what you deserve.’

The conversation ended with Yasmeen promising to call Geoff again – but does this mean she’s back under his spell, or is she casting her own? Fans, naturally, sounded off on Twitter.

‘Yasmeen going to swallow all Geoffs lies again,’ reacted one fan. ‘When will she learn??? [sic]’

Geoff in Coronation Street

A second added: ‘Hope Yasmin is recording that and is gonna trap Geoff.’

A third speculated: ‘Yasmeen is playing Geoff at his own game.’

Another expressed frustration at the storyline, saying: ‘Oh ffs surely they aren’t gunna drag this Geoff storyline out anymore are they?’

Another simple said: ‘The man deserves an Oscar in manipulation.’

That’s succinctly put!

EastEnders icons Gillian Taylforth and Adam Woodyatt will sit down with Stacey Dooley for the next episode of Secrets From The Square.

Adam, who previously featured in the series’ second instalment with co-star Letitia Dean, will join on-screen mum Gillian for a special episode, which will take a look back at Ian and Kathy Beale’s greatest moments.

The duo, who actually refer to each other as Mum and Son even when the camera’s aren’t rolling, will reveal all about their 35-year friendship, in addition to their unique working relationship.

What’s more, they’ll tell all about why it wasn’t unusual for Adam to rock up at Gillian’s house at 2am for food!

The actors will then take a trip down memory lane, revealing their own stories from behind the scenes in relation to Ian and Kathy’s biggest scenes, and Gillian will speak about how she felt while filming Kathy’s shocking return amid the soap’s 30th anniversary.

Moreover, Adam will tell all about why he had to wear a hat throughout a storyline which saw Ian become homeless.

A Secrets From The Square episode simply wouldn’t be complete without giving host Stacey a tour around an Albert Square property, and — given which two legends take centre stage this week — it’s only fitting that this tour is of No. 45 Albert Square.

No. 45 is of course the iconic Beale household, where Ian currently resides with his family, and prior to that it was occupied by the Fowlers.

Casualty spoilers: Tragic memories resurface for Lev

A difficult day for Lev (Picture: BBC(

Tonight’s Casualty delves into the past of paramedic Lev (Uriel Emil) – and we discover a whole new side to him. He’s called to a stabbing incident and soon discovers that the patient is Russian, like him.

Talking about old times brings back traumatic memories that Lev has clearly tried to put behind him – but has he really moved on?

Meanwhile, in true Casualty fashion, the stabbing incident isn’t what it seems and there are lots of layers to it. Who was really the victim?

It’s definitely a job for the police, which is a good reason to introduce us to Jan (Di Botcher)’s police officer wife Ffion (Stirling Gallacher), as she makes her Casualty debut.

It seems that Jan and Ffion’s marriage is basically a happy one, but tensions are brewing, not least because Jan can’t help but put her job before her marriage. As it’s their wedding anniversary she resolves to make an effort, but will it be too little, too late?

Happy anniversary! (Picture: BBC)

Fenisha (Olivia D’Lima) doesn’t help the situation when she puts her foot in it with Ffion, but she soon has challenges of her own when she and Jan are called to a woman who’s trapped in her crashed car – and is about to go into labour.

As Fenisha is keeping her own pregnancy a secret for now, will she be able to keep a cool head in a fraught situation?

As Charlie (Derek Thompson) eases himself back into work he begins to realise how much effort Jacob (Charles Venn) has made to keep things running while he’s been away.

While Charlie is looking after a patient who’s in a desperate situation, he also has time to reflect on his own role in the department – and he makes a decision about his future.

DI Malone (Mark Womack) is desperate to prove that he loves Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) in Emmerdale, but will he go too far as he murders Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) and makes a hasty exit with his lover?

Harriet has been having an affair with Malone for several months now, and in spite of her best efforts, she’s been unable to resist temptation.

Their history connects them, and therefore they’ve been returning to one another time and again, but Malone isn’t too pleased about Harriet having agreed to marry Will.

In the coming episodes, he shows up once more and reveals that he’ll do whatever it takes to stop Harriet from going ahead with the wedding — as he’s still very much in love with her.

He suggests that they simply leave the village and start anew somewhere else — and Harriet is floored as a result.

Will Harriet agree to depart with Malone?

Who knows? There’s more drama ahead for Malone, however, who’s determined to get Will out of the picture no matter the cost.

The bent copper sneaks into the garage, and attempts to plant a dealer-sized pack of drugs in the glove compartment of Will’s vehicle.

However, Will catches him in the act, and a huge row breaks out.

Afterwards, a lifeless body lies on the floor — but just who is it?

Has Malone succeeded in removing Will from the equation?

If so, will he abscond with Harriet before she can discover what he’s done?

EastEnders summer preview: 12 spoilers from Stacey’s return to Mick’s big story and Sharon’s new chapter

EastEnders Summer preview
(Picture: BBC/Metro.co.uk)

EastEnders might be off the air for the first time in history, but there are plenty of reasons to be excited, as it will return to screens later this year — and will no doubt do so in an explosive fashion.

Production on the serial drama was forced to halt amid the Covid-19 pandemic earlier this year, and episodes were subsequently rationed out at two a week.

The final pre-lockdown episode aired on June 16, meaning that the soap had to go on an hiatus for the time in its 35 years on the air.

With cliffhangers aplenty — including an epic ‘Doof Doof’ which saw Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) reclaim what is rightfully hers — the excitement for the soap’s return is real, and here’s everything we’ve got to look forward to.

Sharon’s reign as landlady of The Queen Vic

Sharon and Ian in EastEnders
(Picture: BBC)

EastEnders’ series finale final pre-lockdown episode saw Sharon outsmart Phil and — with some assistance from Ian — secure herself The Queen Vic.

Viewers have long hoped that the iconic character would take up residence behind the bar of the soap’s signature boozer, and therefore we can hardly wait to see what she’s got in store for the pub once the soap returns.

Martin and Ruby’s lockdown romance

Actor James Bye confirmed that Martin and Ruby have not only succumbed to their desires, but that they’ve spent lockdown in one another’s company.

Speaking to Stacey Dooley, actor James said: ‘We’ve seen Martin and Ruby starting to get a little bit close.

‘So that just continues, the relationship grows and they lock down together, and by the sounds of things, they get on!

‘That’s all I’m saying!’

Kat and Stacey’s return

The return of the BBC One soap will also bring with it the return of Slater icons Kat and Stacey — both who’d been absent in the months prior to the hiatus.

Actresses Jessie Wallace and Lacey Turner were spotted returning to set once filming resumed, and Kush Kazemi actor Davood Ghadami confirmed that Kat will have been spending lockdown with her family.

He told Stacey Dooley: ”So he’s [Kush] in No. 31 with all the kids, with Jean, with Mo, with Shirley.

‘And we also have Kat back, so they actually spend lockdown together.’

The question is: what brings Stacey back to Walford? What’s more, how will she react once she discovers that Martin and Ruby have been having a relationship?

Mick and Linda’s next chapter

Linda and Mick in EastEnders
(Picture: BBC)

Mick and Linda have become so synonymous with the Queen Vic that it’s rather hard to imagine what they’ll do now that they’ve sold their beloved boozer and moved on to pastures new.

What’s more, starting a new chapter amid lockdown is no doubt a daunting prospect for the former publicans, so it’s likely that the last couple of months will have been incredibly difficult for them.

Kellie Bright teased what’s ahead for the soulmates on Secrets From The Square, saying: ‘We are essentially going to be coming out of lockdown like the rest of the country.

‘There are some testing times ahead for Mick and Linda.’

Mick’s big story

In addition to adjusting to a new way of life, it appears as if Mick will have a lot on his plate moving forward, as Danny Dyer confirmed that his character is set to be at the forefront of a huge story, which he believes could be his best yet!

Danny said: ‘I think potentially when we come out of lockdown, I think I could have the best storyline I’ve ever had on this show’.

Ben’s deaf story

Ben was left with additional hearing loss following the boat crash, and his operation to have a cochlear implant fitted was ultimately delayed after he arrived at the hospital with a fever.

With the soap having been forced to go on hiatus at a key point in this particular storyline, one can’t help but wonder if the young man will have had the operation when we meet him next?

Will Ben and Callum find happiness?

There are few couples who work as well as Ben and Callum, but the former’s inability to be totally honest with his lover has prevented the pair from truly being happy over the last couple of months.

What’s more, Ben continues to be caught between doing what he wants to do, and doing what will please Phil — which means that his relationship often suffers.

Will Ben finally be able to open up to Callum about how he feels? Will they finally be able to find true happiness?

Chantelle and Gray

Chantelle has suffered at the hands of Gray’s heinous abuse ever since they first set foot in Walford.

The young woman hasn’t revealed what her husband has been doing, and pretty much everyone in Albert Square believes Gray to be a kind and caring man given that he’s taken on Whitney’s case.

When the soap returns, will the truth come out?

What’s more, how has Chantelle coped during lockdown, given that she was likely stuck in the house with her abuser?

Ian’s lockdown trauma

Ian was last seen grinning from ear-to-ear after he aided Sharon in outsmarting Phil, but it appears as if lockdown — and the pandemic — will have had a financial impact on him.

Speaking on Secrets From The Square, Ian star Adam Woodyatt teased: ‘There’s probably going to be financial ramifications, obviously with lockdown.

‘Any money Ian thought he had to buy the Vic, he’s obviously not going to have as much of going forward.

‘I’ve had that hinted. There’s so much uncertainty, we just don’t know.’

Billy, Karen and Mitch

Karen and Billy’s romance hit rocky shores when Mitch began suggesting that he is Karen’s one true love — a suggestion which ultimately caused friction between the happy couple.

The two men came to blows during the final pre-lockdown episode, and — fed up — Billy issued Karen with an ultimatum, asking her to choose between him and Mitch.

By the time we return to the Square, will Karen have made her choice?

If so, who will it be?

Whitney’s trial

EastEnders Whitney
(Picture: BBC)

Whitney was facing the prospect of a life behind bars last we saw her, but Gray is determined to get her off the hook.

With a time-jump seemingly inevitable, how will lockdown have affected the young woman’s court case — and the preparation for said court case?

Has a verdict been given? Or will the trial have been postponed, perhaps?

Sharon discovering the truth about Dennis’ death

Worrying about the financial ramifications of purchasing a pub just before lockdown will be the least of Ian’s worries if Sharon gets wind of the part he played in Dennis’ demise on the party boat.

Dotty has been blackmailing Ian with such information for months — threatening to tell Sharon at every given opportunity — but the restaurantuer managed to get the upper hand in the latest episode, leaving us wondering what will happen next.

Will Dotty follow through on her threat and tell Sharon? Or will Sharon learn such information another way?

Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) is worryingly close to falling back under the manipulative control of her evil husband Geoff (Ian Bartholomew) in the wake of him withdrawing his statement and attempting to drop the charges against her in Coronation Street.

When she contacted him to put him in his place, he tried to coax her into believing that he was a changed man and life would be different when she got home and they got back together.

Left torn, Yasmeen has been left in pieces, wondering if he is being honest – while Geoff is smug, convinced that he has got his only way. In fact he is so confident that he speaks at length on his hospital radio show about how he has forgiven his wife.

However, is he getting ahead of himself? When Yasmeen calls him and tells him that she does indeed want to give their relationship another go, is he being played? Does Yasmeen genuinely want him back?

Yasmeen in Coronation Street
(Picture: ITV)

Shelley explained: ‘It’s extraordinary, and again we know she misses him. The sound of his voice calms her in a way. But the way that he speaks sometimes alerts her. So again, she has this dichotomy of feeling – she feels protected when she hears him, and she’s got used to his voice meaning comfort and security. He does say, “Look I still love you.”

‘She’s thinking about it. It’s a dilemma because she really wants him to change. We don’t know what she’s going to do, as many women do believe it and that’s why these relationships go on and on. And the thing is, if Yasmeen says “I believe you” then that’s it, the charges are dropped and they start living again. But will she?’

It remains to be seen but as the trial approaches, the ex-wife of Geoff, Elaine (Paula Wilcox) arrives on the Street ands watches him from afar. Is she preparing to expose him to the court?

Day one arrives and Yasmeen prepares to face her fate but as the pressure mounts, she collapses and suffers a heart attack. Will she even survive to make her decision?

And if she does, will she wake up to find Geoff by her side?

Casualty review with spoilers: Lev’s secret revealed, Jan messes up and Charlie makes a decision

Someone’s feeling guilty (Picture: BBC)

Casualty peeled back yet another layer of Lev (Uriel Emil) in tonight’s episode. As well as being a paramedic, kitten-rescuer, dependable and loyal husband and father, he’s previously been revealed to have a violent past as a vicious football thug.

Today we learned that he’s also harbouring another secret – he’s attracted to men. And this possibly explains the football thug business as well, because we saw that when he realised he had feelings for another boy when he was a child in Russia, he was told to ‘stop behaving like a pansy.’

Unable to deal with his own feelings he lashed out at the object of his affection. Being macho became his way of hiding how he felt inside.

All of this was revealed when Lev was called to deal with a stabbing incident and discovered the victim, Evgeny, was also Russian. This brought back memories of Lev’s boyhood friend, Sergei, and how the two had become close when Lev rescued Sergei from being beaten up and a close bond developed between the two boys.

Evgeny was gay, and Lev’s reaction upon discovering this led Evgeny to think Lev was ‘a bigoted piece of work,’ like the worst of his fellow countrymen.

Ffion trying not to get too excited about her anniversary gift (Picture: BBC)

The glimpses we had into Lev’s past and his relationship with Sergei showed that, tragically, in a culture of being the bully or the victim Lev had suppressed his feelings for Sergei to become a bully himself.

Of course a lot has happened between then and now – Lev has been married to Faith (Kirsty Mitchell) and had children, and put his violent past behind him for a career of taking care of people. He isn’t the same man. But we saw that he’s secretly using gay dating apps, so the feelings that he suppressed in his youth are still very much a part of him.

Meanwhile we finally got to meet Jan (Di Botcher)’s wife Ffion (Stirling Gallacher), who is a police officer.

It was their wedding anniversary and although Jan had bought Ffion a card she hadn’t got her a present, which was awkward because Ffion had got one for her. So Jan bluffed (we’ve all been there) that she’d booked them a table at a fancy restaurant.

Even that went pear-shaped when Jan was too busy delivering a baby in the back of an ambulance to remember her dinner appointment. Luckily Ffion also had to work late, and understands that Jan ‘isn’t big on romantic gestures’ and loves her anyway.

Charlie (Derek Thompson) told Connie (Amanda Mealing) and Jacob (Charles Venn) that he’s now decided that he’d rather work with patients than do lots of pesky admin, and anyway Jacob is far better at the pesky admin than he ever was.

So he’s letting Jacob be Clinical Nurse Manager from now on. Just as well Holby’s mythical HR department is notoriously flexible about people swapping jobs just because they feel like it.

Sue Haasler is the author of five novels and the official BBC Holby City book, which you can read about here.
