Rachel Breckle in Emmerdale
She can run but she can’t hide from the Emmerdale drama (Picture: ITV)

The drama on Emmerdale doesn’t just take place on-screen.

Things might be bad on-screen, with a potential bloodbath coming up and factories going up in flames, but even leaving doesn’t mean you’re safe.

Viewers found out the hard way this week with news about a character from the past.

Who is Rachel Breckle in Emmerdale?

Rachel was a character who joined the show in 2011.

She was later joined by her sister Ali, Ali’s partner Ruby, niece Amelia and nephew Sean.

She was involved in a feud with Charity (Emma Atkins) during her time on the show, ultimately leaving after Charity tried to frame her for Arson.

It wasn’t always smooth sailing for Jai and Rachel (Picture: ITV)

She returned for Charity’s trial, and ended up sticking around until moving to Liverpool with sister Ali after a custody battle with Jai.

What was Rachel to Jai Sharma and who was Archie?

In 2012, Rachel started working at the Sharmas’ sweet factory to make some extra money.

Later she got closer with boss Jai (Chris Bisson), sharing an intimate chat after he’d been rowing with then-wife Charity.

This heart-to-heart led to a one-night stand after which Rachel discovered that she was pregnant.

Rachel and Jai welcomed baby boy Archie, which led to the breakdown of Jai’s marriage to Charity.

Rachel left the show with Archie after being framed for Arson by Charity.

Is Rachel dead in Emmerdale?

Viewers found out that Rachel sadly passed away.

Dan Spencer (Liam Fox), Rachel’s ex-brother-in-law, received a call from the police letting him know of the sad news.

He was left with the difficult task of telling Jai that the mother of their son is dead.

How did Rachel Breckle die in Emmerdale?

Her cause of death wasn’t revealed.

Her off-screen death is just one more in a long history of tragedy for that family.

Rachel’s sister Ali was killed off-screen in a car accident, as well as Ali’s partner during a helicopter crash on-screen in 2015.

Who was the actress who played Rachel in Emmerdale?

Rachel was played by actress Gemma Oaten.

Gemma joined the show as Rachel in 2011, sticking around until January 2014. The character made a surprise return to the show in 2015 for seven months.

The actress took to Instagram with emotional throwback as Rachel’s fate was sealed.

Ben speaks to a mysterious new stranger in Home and Away (Picture: Channel 5)

Ben (Rohan Nichol) continues to sink into his depression, remaining in his caravan and not returning home to Maggie (Kestie Morassi) and Ziggy (Sophie Dillman). With Maggie struggling to cope, Ziggy overwhelmed by her parents’ fractured marriage and radio silence as far as his case with the AFP is concerned, Ben is left facing the reality that he could end up in jail – leaving his family in pieces when he goes.

In order to cover the fees for Ben’s defence lawyer, Maggie has been forced to consider selling the Pier Complex in an effort to manage their financial struggles. Although Ben has tried to convince Maggie that it may be better for him to plead guilty instead of risking getting locked up and leaving Maggie with a mountain of debt to handle, he eventually reluctantly agrees that they should give up their nest egg.

Finally, the day comes for him and Maggie to sign over the sale of the Pier Complex. When he meets with Maggie, it’s clear she’s lost without him, and she tries to tell him how much she needs him back home. It looks like he might crack for a moment, but he eventually retreats into himself again, secretly determined not to make the situation worse by revealing the true extent of his despair with his family.

His comfort turns to shock before too long, however, when Dean (Patrick O’Connor) gets word of who’s turned up in the caravan park and heads over to see if it’s true. When Dean appears and the woman what she’s doing here, Ben realises with a jolt that the mysterious stranger is none other than Dean’s mother, Karen (Georgia Adamson)…

Emmerdale spoilers: Natalie Ann Jamieson reveals major twist in death aftermath

Is Kerry dead in Emmerdale?
(Picture: ITV)

Amy and Kerry Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson and Laura Norton) are in their most difficult situation in Emmerdale as they continue to conceal the secret that they were inadvertently to blame for the fire which killed Frank Clayton.

And Natale Ann has warned that things are about to get a whole lot worse – as Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) discovers the shocking truth about her dad’s death.

Taking us through the disaster which ensues, she exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘Obviously it all gets a whole lot worse. As you’d expect! Up until now, Kerry has come across relatively calm when it comes to keeping the secret but she is dealing with just as much guilt as Amy and she ends up coming clean when Tracy starts to piece everything together. This leaves Tracy determined to report them to the police which would be an absolute disaster for Kerry and Amy.

‘They’re begging her not to do it but she rushes out and there’s a struggle. Tracy pushes Kerry and she ends up hitting her head, which changes everything. She’s in a really bad way – and suddenly, for Amy, she wishes that Tracy had just gone to the police. Before, she was just worried about being reported but that’s suddenly the better option because she could lose her mum now. She’s in bits and in a real panic.’

the emmerdale village sign
(Picture: ITV)

She added: ‘I’ll be really interested to see the audience reaction to this and how it changes things – I think it will be really mixed, to be honest. Here we have another situation where someone has acted and not meant to hurt anyone but now it’s gone too far. And it leaves both Amy and Tracy in big dilemmas and a lot to think about in terms of where they go from here.

‘Kerry is really badly hurt and it’s touch and so obviously now, there’s not just the secret about the fire in the mix. Everyone here has made serious mistakes, and everyone could end up paying for them in some way. It’ll be good to see how the audience takes to it because it could go a number of ways from here.’

It’s certainly divided fans so far – with some turning on Kerry and Amy for their actions and wondering if there can be some redemption for the characters before it’s too late. But Natalie Ann is confident that there is more to this than outright villainy from Amy and Kerry – and argues that Amy has found herself in a particularly impossible situation.

She mused: ‘There has definitely been a mixed response from viewers and understandably, there has been a fair bit of backlash against Amy and Kerry for their actions. The storyline is about two people and how they live with the guilt of something terrible that has happened after they have lost control of the situation.

‘I do get defensive of my character and I suppose I might be a bit biased because I play her but it does boil down to what you would do for the people you love. Of course, Amy and Kerry had no idea of the consequences that their actions would lead to. And as time has gone on, it’s become harder and harder for them to just pipe up and say “er, actually, this was us”. They’re in too deep now and it’s an impossible situation.’

Despite the mixed reactions from fans, Natalie Ann has been delighted to get her teeth into the dramatic storyline, especially as a relative newcomer to the show. She enthused: ‘It’s been a really intense storyline to film – it’s Amy’s first major storyline since she returned and it’s really thrown me in at the deep end. It’s been great to do some of these really emotional and powerful scenes with the likes of Laura and Amy and I am continuing to learn so much from them.’

And as the storyline develops, it’s clear that there is more drama for the audience to engage with as Emmerdale moves into an exciting autumn.

Ben is cold in EastEnders
(Picture: BBC)

The chemistry between Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway (Tony Clay) has been sizzling for months now in EastEnders, but it seems as if the pair are finally prepared to give into their feelings, as they go on a date in the coming episodes. However, it’s safe to say that things don’t exactly go to plan.

Following Callum and Whitney’s (Shona McGarty) wedding-that-never-was, Ben found himself the victim of a gunshot wound — courtesy of Hunter (Charlie Winter). During the incident, Callum comforted Ben and, as a result, ended up helping keep him alive. Afterwards, the pair agreed to go out for a drink and — although they’ve had quite a few obstacles thrown in their way since — their rendezvous is set in motion during the coming episodes.

Ben and Callum are confused in EastEnders
(Picture: BBC)

Yes, Ben agrees to go on a proper date with Callum, but he soon begins to doubt his decision, as both Ian (Adam Woodyatt) and Jay (Jamie Borthwick) make comments about his history with men.

Later, Stuart (Ricky Champ) heads to The Arches to have a word with Ben, pleading with him not to hurt his brother. With doubts aplenty rolling around in Ben’s head, he’s left unsure of what to do for the better. However, he resolves to go ahead and meet Callum.

Upon Ben’s arrival, Callum is gutted when he realises that Jay and Lola (Danielle Harold) are joining them as well. If that wasn’t bad enough, Ben makes absolutely no effort during the date and, as a result, Callum resolves to leave.

Will he walk out on Ben?

What’s more, what is it that Ben’s playing at? Is he perhaps trying to looking out for Callum?

Is this the end of #Ballum before it’s even begun?

Say it ain’t so!

EastEnders spoilers: Jay Mitchell to seek revenge for his father after a shock death

Jay in EastEnders
(Picture: BBC)

The paternal history of Jay Mitchell (Jamie Borthwick) has been a matter of confusion for EastEnders in recent years. While we witnessed a very young Jay hiding in another room while his dad Jase was beaten to death, the storyline was revisited a couple of years back when Phil (Steve McFadden) claimed that the homeless man who died in the car lot fire was Jay’s real father.

In a now scrapped-and-let’s-forget-about-it-plot, it turned out Phil was lying – for some reason – and Max Branning (Jake Wood) later cleared up to Jay that it had all been a load of bull in a blink and you might miss it scene.

So now that that’s sorted, EastEnders is going to have another bash at revisiting the story of Jay’s dad. Who was Jase, okay?

In a recent trailer teasing the months ahead, Jay was seen necking vodka as he reminisced about the loss of his dad. And he could also be seen looming over a coffin, warning a dead body that he was going to make sure that everyone knew the kind of man he was.

It seems fair to deduce that the coffin contains one of the thugs responsible for killing Jase, who found himself owing violent gangsters a fair bit of money back in the day. But as Jay is forced to relive his harrowing childhood, it seems like he might spiral out of control.

But as he seeks to expose the person who has died (and ended up in the funeral parlour’s custom), will Jay end up in similar danger to Jase as he takes on some sinister enemies? Could he live to regret his vengeful actions?

Jamie was recently seen filming with Max Bowden, who plays Ben Mitchell, at a funeral scene – could this funeral be that of Jase’s killer? And what action will Jay take at the ceremony – could he risk everything for payback?

Paul confronts Kel in Coronation Street
Paul confronts Kel (picture: ITV)

Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) has struggled to come to terms with the fact that Kel (Joseph Alessi) groomed him when he was a teenager in Coronation Street and — determined to get to the truth — he confronts his abuser in tonight’s episode.

When Kel showed up on the cobbles, Bernie (Jane Hazelgrove) and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) were beyond delighted. However, Paul didn’t share in his family’s joy about the returnee and — after doing some detective work — Billy (Daniel Brockleback) made a shocking discovery about the reason why.

After further conversations with the vicar in Friday’s hour-long episode, Paul came to the realisation that Kel had groomed him when he was a teenager, and in tonight’s instalment, he sets out to confronts his abuser about his past actions.

Paul calls round to Chesney’s (Sam Aston) to show Kel the photo, before explaining how Billy thinks he’s a victim of sexual grooming. The older man wastes little time in attempting to dispel this claim, assuring Paul that this wasn’t the case, informing him that they were in love with one another during that time.

Paul gets drunk in the Rovers and, later, he confronts Kel once more — only this time he tries to kiss him. However, Kel pushes him away and, as a result, Paul comes to the realisation that he only fancied him when he was a young boy. As a result, he loses it and punches Kel — knocking him unconscious.

What will transpire next?

Bernie and Gemma were overjoyed when they thought that the animosity between Kel and Paul was no more, so how will they react upon learning of the two’s brawl?

What’s more, will the truth out?

Emmerdale spoilers: Trouble for Rishi Sharma as Derek drops dead tonight

the emmerdale village sign
(Picture: ITV)

Emmerdale is set to take the phrase ‘death by chocolate’ a little too literally tonight as Manpreet Sharma’s (Rebecca Sarker) patient Derek (Tommy Cannon) suddenly drops dead, leaving Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) worried that his new line of chocolates are to blame for poisoning him.

As Derek falls ill not long after sampling the chocolates, Rishi is troubled to find that David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) is also feeling under the weather. Things get worse when Derek passes away and Rishi attempts to stay calm as Manpreet tries to reassure him.

But has he accidentally killed Derek – and will he face huge consequences? The plot will then thicken when Sam Dingle (James Hooton) is left fearing the worst when his chickens are implicated in the scenario – have they been the ones to give Derek salmonella. That would certainly be some seriously bad cluck.

With Derek not even cold, Manpreet will also show her more ruthless side again as she goes through his belongings. As she comes across one of Derek’s collections which she realises could be worth a small fortune, she is tempted to swipe it for herself in order to sort her and Rishi’s ongoing financial woes.

But is she really about to steal from a dead man; her own patient? And if so, what other deceit is she capable of?

As Sam and Rishi both worry about their futures and Manpreet considers her options after realising that she could have found the solution to her cashflow problems, it seems like Derek’s death is about to kick off a whole lot of new trouble for those involved.

It remains to be seen who will end up finding themselves responsible for the tragedy – and whether Manpreet will take callous action and get away with it – but there’s certainly going to be a lot of guilty feelings this week.

Emmerdale continues on Monday 30th September at 7pm on ITV.

Coronation Street’s Sam Aston was forced to rush wife Briony to the hospital after she experienced severe pains.

Yoga instructor Briony took to Instagram yesterday to explain the whole ordeal — which transpired last weekend — describing how she was enjoying a ‘perfect, cosy Sunday’ while binge-watching Netflix series Unbelievable, before she suffered from ‘crippling pains’ in both her back and stomach.

As a result, husband Sam — who plays Chesney Brown in the ITV soap — rushed her to the hospital, where she was given morphine for suspected kidney stones.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B2_to1UjZ2d/

With the ordeal having taken place last week, Briony stated that — this weekend — both her and Sam were determined to enjoy Sunday by ‘living and loving it this week instead’.

Fans were quick to comment their messages of support below, with one saying: ‘Get better and be well . Your sensible and will be in good recovery,’ while another added ‘Ahhhw glad to hear you are enjoying this sunday!! hope youre feeling better xx.’

Sam’s at the centre of Coronation Street right now, as his character Chesney continues to worry about partner Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell), who’s pregnant with quadruplets. Last week, the pair learned that one of the babies is smaller than the others, and it’s understandably left them concerned as a result.

In addition to this, sex abuser Kel (Joseph Alessi) has moved in — but as of yet Chesney’s currently unaware of the character’s true nature.

Mark Brennan is ready to leave Ramsay Street
Ramsay Street is set to lose a favourite (Picture: Channel 5)

The Brennan family have been through some rough times in the last few years in Neighbours, not least of all Mark (Scott McGregor), who lost the love of his life in a shooting, lost a baby when psycho Andrea came to town, and, most recently, lost his wife after she slept with his sister and later got pregnant by someone else.

Life has been cruel to the Bobby, and it’s not getting any nicer.

He’s now suffering a terrible downwards spiral that’s led him to drink, and it looks like things won’t be getting any better any time soon,

Is it any wonder he might contemplate leaving the street?!

At his lowest ebb, Mark finds himself confessing to Chloe (April Rose Pengilly) that he feels totally lost, but before he has time to get too maudlin they’re dealt some shock news – their mum Faye (Zoe Bertram) has gone missing. Mark is snapped out of his funk as he, Chloe, Aaron (Matthew Wilson) are left beside themselves as they try to find her.

They hit a breakthrough when they get the police involved.

Mark decides it might be time to go
Mark Brennan’s ready to leave Ramsay Street behind (Picture: Channel 5)

Their relief is short-lived though when they realise Fay is in a really bad way. They rush her to hospital where David delivers a painful blow to the family – Fay’s Huntingtons has advanced significantly and she is rapidly deteriorating.

Fay’s illness has become so bad that Tyler (Travis Burns) and Piper (Mavournee Hazel) can no longer care for her themselves, so talk turns to which of the siblings will move to Adelaide to help.

Chloe volunteers, but Pierce quickly tries to make Mark see what a terrible idea that is – facing her own future in watching the mum she knows and loves slipping away.

It gives Mark an idea – perhaps it’s time he left Ramsay Street to take care of his family and do the right thing by his sister. It looks like we could be about to lose Erinsborough’s favourite copper, will Mark be leaving for good?

Scenes air from Monday 7th October at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.

Emmerdale star Charley Webb hits back at trolls who criticise her parenting skills

Debbie Dingle in Emmerdale
(Picture: ITV)

Emmerdale actress Charley Webb — aka Debbie Dingle — has spoken about how she feels towards those who criticise her parenting skills on social media.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Charley mentioned how she finds it ‘bizarre’ that social media users feel as if they have the right to comment on how she raises her kids. She said: ‘Mainly I just block it out. I’m not really interested in what anyone else thinks. Everyone parents differently.’

‘If you’re in the public eye people think they’ve got a right to say things to you. They don’t!’ These people comment just to get a response. I find that so bizarre and I don’t respond. I don’t think anyone’s life is perfect but we’re all just doing our best as parents.’

Charley recently welcomed her third child with co-star Mathhew Wolfenden — who plays David Metcalfe in the ITV soap — and is also mum to Buster, 9, and Bowie, 3.

She continued: “Matthew and I are big on routines, but I won’t judge parents who aren’t’.

In addition to how she feels about the internet trolls, Charley last spoke about the pressures put on parents, and how it’s important for both mums and dads to not be so hard on themselves.

She said: ‘Every parent feels that pressure. No human can do everything, male or female. It’s really hard. You feel like you should be doing it all and if you’re not, you feel like you’ve failed. We all need to give ourselves a break.’

Charley recently shared a short video on Instagram of her son Buster singing a duet with actress Katie Hill — who plays her on-screen daughter Sarah in Emmerdale.

Meanwhile, Charley is currently on maternity leave, which means that Debbie has been written out of the soap for the time being, with the character tending to a new business venture in Scotland.

Who is Jade in Coronation Street and what is she up to with Fiz?

Jennie McAlpine as Fiz in Coronation Street Street
Is Fiz in danger? (Picture: Mark Bruce/ITV)

Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) has made her long-awaited return to the cobbles, but she already may have brought some trouble with her in the form of Jade (Lottie Henshall).

Fiz had been in Birmingham so her daughter Hope (Isabella Flanagan) could go to a pupil referral unit.

Jade then arrived on the scene to help out with Hope, but she already seems to be hiding something…

Who is Jade in Coronation Street?

Jade is a new live-in tutor for Hope who used to be the youngster’s teaching assistant in Birmingham.

Since their return, troubled Hope has already started a small fire in the factory, and with Tyrone (Alan Halsall) forgetting to enrol her in school, Fiz was left homeschooling her.

After Jade offered advice on Hope’s homeschooling, Fiz ended up inviting Jade to live with the family at number 9 and Jade and took her up on the offer.

Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) was suspicious that Jade would be willing to drop everything just like that and later quietly let herself into the family home.

There she found Jade rifling through drawers, and Jade ended up telling her all about her abusive ex-husband.

She told Evelyn that, if it weren’t for Fiz, she never would have survived, and that she was looking through their drawers to find a photo she could have framed as a thank you.

Then, when Fiz walks out of a new job at the furniture shop, Jade persuades Gary (Mikey North) to give Fiz her job back – which in turn made safe her own job working for Fiz.

Is Jade everything she claims to be, or is she up to something more sinister?

Only time will tell…

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7:30pm on ITV.

Moira and Nate in Emmerdale

Nate Robinson’s (Jurrell Carter) affair with Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) came to a swift end in Emmerdale when Cain (Jeff Hordley) returned home last week so, as a means of retaliation, the farmhand set out to get some sweet revenge on Moira’s husband during tonight’s episode, as he tipped the police off about him being in possession of stolen car parts.

Upon Cain’s arrival back in the village last week, Nate was left out in the cold, and matters were made worse when he attempted to confront Moira about their future together — a conversation which ultimately resulted in Moira putting an end to their dalliance once and for all.

Tonight, Nate set about rectifying the situation by having it out with his lover once more — to no avail. Later, he attempted to apologise to Cain for misunderstanding the situation during the previous episode, when he failed to take the fact that it was Holly’s (Sophie Powles) anniversary into consideration when berating Moira. However, upon doing so, he stumbled upon Cain and Pete (Anthony Quinlan) checking out some car parts which Cain had come in to possession of.

The police later arrived at Butlers farm with a search warrant, and made their intentions to locate said car parts clear — much to Cain’s dismay.

However, the police search ultimately proved fruitless, and — afterwards — PC Swirling (Andy Moore) paid a visit to Nate in his caravan, where it became clear that Nate was the one who grassed on Cain.

Will Cain discover what Nate did?

We know that thew Dingle hard-man is set to find out the truth about Moira’s affair with the farmhand during explosive scenes this October, so it’s likely he’ll find out about this at some point too.

What’s more, Pete is set to discover Nate and Moira’s affair in the coming episodes, so perhaps he’ll find out about the games that Nate is playing with Cain as well?

Emmerdale continues on Tuesday 1st October at 7pm on ITV.

Are Ben and Callum over? (Picture: BBC)

The chemistry between Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway (Tony Clay) has been sizzling for months now in EastEnders and, as a result, the pair decided to go on a proper date in tonight’s episode. However, it didn’t go according to plan thanks to Ben, as he ended up locking lips with another guy.

After sharing another passionate kiss in Friday’s episode, Ben agreed to go on a proper date with Callum during tonight’s instalment. However, after Ian (Adam Woodyatt) and Jay (Jamie Borthwick) made comments about his history with men, Ben began to have second thoughts.

To make matters worse, Stuart (Ricky Champ) later paid Ben a visit, and pleaded with him not to hurt his brother. Afterwards, Ben had plenty of doubts rolling around in his head and, as a result, he was left unsure of what to do for the better. However, he ultimately resolved to go ahead and meet Callum.

Ben arrived with Jay and Lola (Danielle Harold) in tow, and Callum was gutted to learn that they weren’t going to be alone. If that wasn’t hard enough, Ben made absolutely no effort at all during the date, and Callum’s heart — and the nation’s, for that matter — was left broken as a result.

With Ben showing little interest, Callum resolved to leave, but Jay and Lola did their utmost to convince him otherwise, but he discovered Ben snogging another bloke in front of him, which put the final nail in the coffin for this date.

Although Callum put on a brave face, it was pretty clear that he was heartbroken by Ben’s actions.

Before the episode’s conclusion, Ben sat at the bar — alone and forlorn — and it was here that it became apparent that he’d simply snogged the other bloke in an attempt to protect Callum, as he later rebuked the guy once Jay and Lola had left.

Is this the end of #Ballum before it’s even really started?

Ben was clearly doing what he thought best — and allowed Stuart, Ian and Jay’s words to influence him — but will Callum learn of this?

For Ballum’s sake — and our’s — here’s hoping so!

EastEnders continues on Tuesday 1st October at 7:30pm on BBC One.

Another Emmerdale exit is on the cards as Anthony Quinlan has reportedly quit his role as Pete Barton, meaning the clan is all but demolished following the departures of Emma, Finn and Ross.

The star has been central to many major storylines in the show including a war with his brother Ross for the affections of Debbie Dingle and a relationship with Rhona Goskirk which ended in tears.

But now it seems like his time is up as it is being reported that he will leave his role – with speculation mounting that another Barton death is on the cards.

A source told The Sun: ‘Anthony has loved his time on Emmerdale but he is really keen to try and make a name for himself away from just soaps, and is looking at auditions. He says he would be up for doing a reality show too, like the jungle or Strictly, but with a full-on filming schedule for Emmerdale that’s quite tricky.’

Metro.co.uk has reached out to spokespersons for Emmerdale but they had no comment to make on this.

Anthony ha splayed dependable Pete for six years and has been central to other storylines including an affair with Priya Sharma behind the back of Leyla Sharma.

In upcoming episodes, Emmerdale will go all out for an autumn spectacular as Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) discovers his wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) has been having an affair with farm hand Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).

It seems likely that Pete might be pulled into that storyline but with October being a prime time for Bartons to be killed off (RIP James, Emma and Finn), will Pete survive the autumn curse?

Anthony’s exit from the show comes following departures from high profile names including Ryan Hawley, who plays Robert Sugden and Gaynor Faye, who portrayed Megan Macey.

Phil punches Jonno in EastEnders
(Picture: BBC)

Far be it from us to condone violence but if there’s one EastEnders character who has been cruising for a bruising then it is homophobic bigot Jonno (Richard Graham) – and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is about to play the unlikely hero by punching him as he tackles his son Callum Highway (Tony Clay) over coming out as gay.

As Callum tries to get to the bottom of Ben’s (Max Bowden) odd behaviour which led to their date falling apart, Johnno shows up like a bad smell, ready to wind up his sons again. But a lot has happened in Callum’s life since then – and he finds the strength to stand up to his dad.

For so long, both Callum and Stuart (Ricky Champ) have felt the need to impress Jonno, who sees himself as an alpha male as opposed to the pondlife he actually is. No offence to any pondlife reading this.

So when Jonno publicly calls Callum out for letting Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) go, using sexist terms against her in the process, Callum stands up to him over who he is and this winds Jonno up.

As he makes his disgust with Callum clear, he lashes out and goes for him – but Phil steps between them and thumps Jonno, sending him crashing to the ground. As Phil steps up for the man who loves his son, the cards are on the table for Jonno – he and his hatred are now welcome on the Square.

But will Jonno take this lying down as Phil challenges him or will he fight back? And how will Ben and Callum react to Phil’s unique seal of approval for them? Will the couple fight to make a go of their relationship?

EastEnders will air Phil and Jonno’s showdown on Tuesday 1st October at 7:30pm on BBC One.

OLLIE PROPOSES TO BROOKE EMBARGOED 1 OCTOBER Hollyoaks
(Picture: Lime Pictures)

Ollie Morgan’s (Aedan Duckworth) relationship with Brooke Hathway (Talia Grant) has been going through a bit of a rough patch in Hollyoaks — much of which has been a result of Juliet Quinn’s (Niamh Blackshaw) meddling — but the young lad resolves to prove how much he loves his girlfriend in the coming episodes by popping the question. How will she react?

With news of Brooke’s pregnancy having become public knowledge thanks to Juliet, Mandy (Sarah Jayne Dunn), Nancy (Jessica Fox), Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) and Luke (Gary Lucy) are determined to discuss options for the parents-to-be in the coming episodes, and thus they summon Brooke and Ollie.

Adoption is discussed, but Ollie’s not keen, as he’s certain that he’s ready to be a dad. Meanwhile, it all proves too much for Brooke, and she later confides in Tom (Ellis Hollins) that being responsible for another life forever is simply too big.

Later in the week, Ollie and Brooke head to the hospital for their scan and, whilst waiting, Brooke is incredibly self-conscious. Ollie is overcome with emotion when he sees their baby on the screen for the very first time, but, when the midwife asks her a series of questions, Brooke gets overwhelmed.

Ollie discusses everything with Imran (Ijaz Rana), and the pair wonder if perhaps Brooke is simply in need of more security — something which results in Ollie deciding that he should propose to his girlfriend.

Later, as Brooke watches from the school balcony, Ollie and Imran dance for her in the yard, before Ollie gets down on one knee and pops the question.

Brooke’s reaction leaves Ollie shocked — but what exactly it is that transpires has yet to be revealed.

Will she accept? Or will she decline?

Now that is the question, isn’t it?

One to watch: Tuesday 8th October at 7pm on E4.
