EastEnders star Max Bowden is horrified as his neighbours’ builders continue working amid the Coronavirus shutdown.

The actor — who’s known for his sublime portrayal of Ben Mitchell in the long-running BBC One serial drama — took to Twitter to discuss.

In a tweet, he said: ‘So weve just gone into lockdown, I am peacefully sleeping trying not to have palpitations in light of the current state of the country…. AND THE BUILDERS ARE BACK ROUND THE NEIGHBOURS DRILLING. DURING LOCKDOWN!?!? ESSENTIAL!?!?!?!’

It was revealed last week that production on EastEnders had halted with immediate effect, while weekly transmissions were reduced from four to two in an effort to ensure the beloved BBC soap remains on air for as long as possible.

A statement from a BBC spokesperson said: ‘In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on EastEnders will be postponed until further notice. The decision was made after the latest government update.

‘We will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the World Health Organisation and Public Health England. We have also taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two, so that we can ensure the audience can continue to enjoy EastEnders in their homes for as long as possible.’

Max took over the role of Ben last year — making his first appearance in April — and has received acclaim for his portrayal, delivering incredible performance after incredible performance.

Ben is currently at the centre of a huge storyline, as he struggles to come to terms with additional hearing loss after sustaining a head injury during the boat tragedy last month.

EastEnders continues Tuesday 24 January at 7:30pm on BBC One.

During the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, staff working for the NHS are facing increased pressures, working hours and have warned of lacking space, supplies and equipment as the quantity of UK residents infected rises.

BBC medical dramas Holby City and Casualty have pledged to do their bit and have confirmed that they are working with the NHS to donate any useful protesive equipment and medical supplies to hospitals struggling.

Many hospitals are running short of equipment such as face masks and hand sanitiser as well as other essential equipment to manage the crisis.

The executive boss of both soaps, Simon Harper, told Metro.co.uk: ‘Casualty and Holby City are all about celebrating NHS heroism, so we are only too happy to help out and do what we can for the courageous and selfless real life medics battling this situation.

‘We are in discussion with local NHS services and will be donating personal protective equipment (PPE) and other useful medical items to assist them.’

Along with EastEnders, Doctors, River City and Pobol y Cwn, Casualty and Holby City have closed down production at the BBC although writers and other staff involved continue to work remotely.

A statement from the BBC at the time read: ‘In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on all BBC Studios continuing dramas will be postponed until further notice.

‘The decision was made after the latest government update. We will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the World Health Organisation and public health organisations.’

The measures have since been increased, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson effectively implementing a UK lockdown.

Emmerdale star Charley Webb slams ‘disgusting’ Coronavirus challenge

Emmerdale star Charley Webb has slammed people who’ve been taking part in what’s being called a Coronavirus ‘challenge’.

The actress — who portrays Debbie Dingle in the long-running popular ITV serial drama — quoted Piers Morgan’s tweet about people who take part in this dangerous ‘Coronavirus challenge’.

Piers tweeted: ‘These people need to be arrested & charged with attempted murder. I’m serious.’

Charley quoted Piers’ tweet, saying: ‘This is the most DISGUSTING thing I’ve ever seen. Coronavirus or not. The fact that people have set up a ‘coronavirus challenge’ is again bizarre. I honestly worry about these people and what is going through their minds.’.

Emmerdale was one of the several soaps which recently shut down production amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

An ITV spokesperson said: ‘ITV has sadly taken the decision to suspend production of the soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale with effect from Monday 23 March.

‘We’ve been doing our best to carry on filming, whilst adhering to the Government’s latest health guidelines, to ensure we’ve episodes of both soaps airing on ITV until at least the early summer.

Charley is currently on maternity leave from Emmerdale.

Following Lisa’s (Jane Cox) death, Charley’s character Debbie discovered that she’d been left a garage by the Dingle matriarch up in Scotland. Therefore — after enduring a lot of heartbreak — she decided to depart the village and make a go of things in Scotland.

Emmerdale continues Tuesday 24 March at 7pm on ITV.

Coronation Street fans convinced Ken Barlow swore at Norris Cole last night

Coronation Street fans were left with their jaws on the floor during last night’s double-bill, as they believed Ken Barlow (William Roache) swore at Norris Cole (Malcom Hebden).

During last night’s episode, Ken attempted to cheer up Norris, who — since moving into Stillwaters — has been a shell of his former self.

Ken encouraged Norris to come clean to Frieda about how he truly feels about Stillwaters, and — when Norris revealed that Frieda loves the place — viewers believed Ken replied with: ‘you think it’s a load of b****ks.’

However, Coronation Street’s official Twitter were quick to clear this up, informing social media users that the line was Ken’s attempt at an art joke. They said: ‘Ken said Pollocks, as in Jackson!’

Considering Ken and Norris’ narrative throughout this instalment featured the pair of legends taking part in a painting workshop, it makes sense.

With plenty of activities and creative outlets on offer at the retirement complex, Ken encouraged Norris to join him in a paint workshop — a scene which similarly provided viewers with a laugh, as Norris wasted little time in putting down the tasks that he was given.

Coronation Street continues Wednesday 25 March at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.

Neighbours spoilers: Finn Kelly dies as Elly Conway looks guilty of murder

Rob Mills plays Finn Kelly in Neighbours
Finn Kelly has one final evil plot twist from beyond the grave (Picture: Channel 5)

The island tragedy will barely have sunk in when Ramsay Street is hit with more horror. Finn Kelly’s (Rob Mills) reign of terror will meet a grisly end, but it will leave more devastation to befall the Neighbours.

The ripple effect of his evil deeds will rumble on for some time to come.

What happened on the island hasn’t yet hit Ramsay Street. Finn, however, has returned, and the locals are as yet none the wiser. He surprises Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne) and tells her that Elly (Jodi Anasta) and Aster are fine, and that a heartbroken Bea (Bonnie Anderson) is up at a cabin in the Snowy Mountains trying to get over their breakup. A manipulative Finn manages to convince her that he’ll take her to visit Bea so that she can have a shoulder to cry on.

It’s a bad move, Susan quickly realises something is up when she sees Aster is already in the car, but it’s too late. Finn confesses he wants a future with Elly and the baby and Susan twigs what’s going on, that her life is in danger and what she says and does next could mean life or death.

Finn drives her to the cabin where the situation escalates and Susan realises she is now Finn’s hostage. He leaves her bound and trapped inside the cabin while he heads outside to do something, but after one failed escape attempt Susan is terrified into being a well behaved hostage. She is resigned to her fate, there is nothing she can do to save herself now.

What she doesn’t realise is that there is no time for a defeatist attitude – he’s outside digging her a grave.

Finn Kelly digs a grave in which to bury Susan Kennedy alive in Neighbours
Finn is the master of his own death (Picture: Channel 5)

But while he’s gone Susan is surprised by a rescuer – Elly. She helps Susan escape, but she can’t let Finn get away with this and goes back to get him.

Susan pleads with her to leave him and they can just go, but she can’t. He’s still out back digging the grave for Susan, using a hose to soften the earth. As he tries to climb out of the hole tragedy strikes, he slips, paralysing himself from the neck down. The water keeps rising, and he has no way of rescuing himself.

He drowns in that hole, killed by his own stupidity. But the tragedy rumbles on when Elly is suddenly in the frame for his death. Did she purposely let him drown? Did she even make sure he did? She is questioned thoroughly, and Mark is worried about how guilty she sounds.

Sky (Stephanie McIntosh) is the lead detective on the case and she’s out to get a good result as she’s under a lot of pressure from above. It’s looking like they could be gathering enough evidence to charge Elly. Finally, Mark (Scott McGregor) and Sky get the full forensics report back from the crime scenes. What will this mean for Elly?

Mark believes Elly’s innocence and Toadie (Ryan Moloney) finds himself having to defend his friends. Things are getting serious as Sky puts pressure on Elly to come clean. Will Elly face a murder charge?

Scenes air from Monday 23rd March at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.

Neighbours spoilers: What could happen next after island horror and Gary, Prue and Finn’s deaths?

Finn Kelly and Elly Conway hug, Sheila Canning grieves over her son, Shaun Watkins could return in Neighbours
Gaze into our crystal ball (Picture: Channel 5)

It’s been an emotional ride in Neighbours for the 35th anniversary, one full of twists and turns, loop-de-loops, it’s flipped us upside down and left us wondering which way is the right way up. But where will it take us next?

It’s been a ride filled with celebrations for Elly Conway’s (Jodi Anasta) birthday, devastation in the loss of Gary Canning (Damien Richardson) and Prue Wallace (Denise Van Outen) and relief in the safe return of Toadie (Ryan Moloney), Bea (Bonnie Anderson) and Harlow (Jemma Donnovan). But no doubt the tragedy isn’t about to suddenly stop there.

A 35th birthday is a big one and we sense much more drama afoot to mark such a big occasion. What fresh plot twists will befall the Ramsay Street locals?

Here are our predictions for what will happen next:

Elly takes the fall for Finn’s death

Elly Conway looks afraid in Neighbours
Could Elly be found guilty of murder? (Picture: Channel 5)

The circumstances around Finn’s death will look suspicious to the police with the circumstances of him drowning, and it seems like Elly could take the fall. His last act of evil even in death! Although he would never have wanted this, in his twisted way he did actually love Elly. But with the police attention turning on her almost immediately, could we see her actually sent down for murder and separated from her baby for life?

Shaun comes back for revenge or for happy families

Shaun Watkins and Elly Conway talk in Neighbours
Could Shaun come back? (Picture: Channel 5)

We never saw a body when Shaun died, he was presumed dead in the avalanche. Could he make a shock return for revenge over his brother’s death? Could he come back to fight for custody over Aster? Or if Elly isn’t done for killing Finn perhaps Shaun could come back for a happier storyline (lord knows we need one right now!), one where he is able to reunite with Elly and they join together to raise Aster. We can but hope! Although let’s not forget about Shaun and Finn’s psycho mum Claudia. She’s previously wanted to discredit Elly as a good mum, now that Finn is dead she’ll definitely pull out all the stops to fight for that baby.

Harlow vows revenge on The Order

Harlow will be left absolutely devastated by the death of her mum. Just when she thought she’d got her back in her life, she’s cruelly taken away. The teenager will no doubt be left broken by this and will need to channel her anger somewhere. Could it see her embark on a dangerous mission to right the wrongs against her mother? And could it ultimately see her dragged into the cult herself? Hendrix and Paul Robinson may be forced to put their differences aside to have any chance of saving her.

Bea finds out the truth about Elly and Finn

Finn Kelly and Bea Nilssen talk together, Finn Kelly and Elly Conway cuddle in Neighbours
What will Bea do when she finds out the truth? (Picture: Channel 5)

Bea is only just learning that Finn has feelings for her sister, but she has no idea that the feelings have been reciprocated. So far it just seems like he’s lost the plot, but Bea is yet to learn the extent of what Finn has done because of his feelings for Elly, and that Elly’s had strong feelings for him too – the pair even kissed and said the L word!

It’ll be quite the bombshell when she finds out the real reason for it all. Once she learns of Finn’s death and of Elly’s betrayal, could she turn on her own flesh and blood as the police question Elly about the murder? Could she even seek her own revenge?

David spirals as he blames himself

Let’s not forget, David was the one working on ‘good Finn’ and agreed to help him when everyone else thought he was too beyond help. When evil Finn developed amnesia and seemingly became good, David helped convince people it was the real deal. So basically, this was all his fault. Had it not been for him, Finn would probably have been locked up safely somewhere by now and lives wouldn’t have been so unnecessarily wasted and endangered. Not entirely true, but no doubt this is what the sensitive Doc will be thinking, pointing the finger at himself. Could we see him even question if he wants to continue as a doctor? There could be a career change in his future.

What will happen to baby Aster?

Well, we’ve already mentioned the possibility of Shaun flying back into town, but let’s say he really is dead, Claudia is the biggest risk to that baby. The grieving mother will no doubt be out to do what it takes to get a piece of her family back in her life, and if that means stealing that child away from Elly, a mother she’s already declared as unfit, no doubt she will do what it takes.

Sheila plans to avenge Gary’s death

Sheila Canning stands in the back yard and grieves for son Gary Canning in Neighbours
How will Sheila cope with Gary’s death? (Picture: Channel 5)

The wake of the island tragedy could certainly bring a lot of revenge plots to Ramsay Street! Could we be seeing a new vengeful side to Sheila? While she won’t be able to get the revenge she’s after given that Finn is dead, she might be angry enough to take things out on those around her seeing as she will be left looking for answers after the senseless murder of her son Gary after he died with an arrow in his back on that island. She’s grieving and hurting, her need for justice could spawn a dark plot for this matriarch. Who will feel her wrath? Could this bring out a side of her we’ve not yet seen?

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.

Coronation Street and Scarborough star Catherine Tyldesley is getting extra creative during the Coronavirus lockdown as she has invented a quirky character to home school her son Alfie.

Donning a wig and some thick spectacles, the Eva Price star introduced her music tutor alter ego Mrs Olga Kleff to Instagram.

With added gloves and quaint red scarf, Catherine said in an amusing video: ‘I’ve come to tell y’all about my treble clef. I thought I’d do an online tuition video to combat these times of woe. There’s no bugger else to do, eh?’

She started playing a keyboard and deliberately singing badly before quipping: ‘Really engage ya diagram. Really let it resonate. I actually taught my cousin.

Olga Kleff aka Coronation Street's Catherine Tyldesley

‘That lady from Coronation Street,’ she said, holding up her debut album Rise. ‘She did an album, you know? 2016. I taught her everything she knows. It’s all from me. Anyways, let’s go again!’

With schools having been closed and now the whole country effectively on lockdown due to the spread of COVID-19, many parents are wondering how they will keep their children engaged and entertained.

Seems like Cath has nailed it – luckily for Arthur, he gets to enjoy Olga Kleff’s talents whenever he pleases!

Coronation Street star Kym Marsh lashes out at toxic Twitter fans in Coronavirus row

Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has lashed out at Twitter fans in Coronavirus row.

Boris Johnson made a speech last night, ordering the nation into lockdown in an effort to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

Following said announcement, actress Kym took to social media to reveal that she was ‘confused’, and thus questioned whether or not these new measures would allow her son — who is a tiler — to work.

Kym said: ‘What does he mean by travelling to and from work unless absolutely necessary? What is considered absolutely necessary?? My son is a tiler going into other people’s homes? Can’t work from home so is this necessary?? I can’t do my job from home so is that ok?? I’m confused? Are you?’

However, she received some backlash for doing so, with many social media users claiming that tiling isn’t necessary amid the pandemic.

Kym replied to one person — who claimed she needed to ‘use her common sense’ — saying: ‘Oh do be quiet’.

She told another user — who said that tiling is ‘not a necessity’: ‘No but his job is to him! As is his income and given that he has said don’t travel to and from work unless necessary??? It’s confusing.’

The beloved actress has portrayed Michelle Connor in Coronation Street since 2006, and has appeared in a number of the popular soaps biggest ever storylines since.

Kym is currently taking a break from the serial drama, and thus made her final appearance at the end of last year, when — after plotting with Vicki (Kerri Quinn) to plot cheating Robert’s (Tristan Gemmill) downfall — Michelle felt guilty as Robert was killed in the Christmas shooting.

Coronation Street continues Wednesday 25 March at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.

Want to catch up with some classic Emmerdale? (Picture: ITV)

With the coronavirus pandemic continuing to sweep the globe, Emmerdale is among the soaps which have fallen victim to the outbreak.

As well as production being suspended on the soap, it’s been cut back to just three episodes a week in a bid to keep new instalments on the air for at least the next few months.

All of which means you may want to look elsewhere to satisfy your Emmerdale fix – and where better to start than with some classic episodes of the soap?

But where can you find them? Here’s what you need to know…

Where can you watch classic re-runs of Emmerdale?

You can currently catch up with vintage episodes of Emmerdale on ITV3.

For our Coronavirus live blog click here.

Emmerdale has a daily double bill in the schedules, with episodes at 1.45pm and 2.15pm – with repeats at 6.55am and 7.25am the next morning.

There’s also an omnibus edition on ITV3 on Sundays at 9.50am.

The re-runs commenced last year — starting with episodes originally broadcast in 1989 — giving viewers the opportunity to witness the iconic plane crash instalment from 1993.

Currently, it’s in the middle of April 1995.

How often is Emmerdale on ITV at the moment?

Currently, the soap is airing three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm.

Speaking about the soap’s reduced schedule, a spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘ITV has taken the decision to reduce Emmerdale’s transmission pattern to three episodes per week from Monday 30 March.

‘The Yorkshire based soap will air on Monday, Wednesday and Friday with Coronation Street airing at 7.30pm on the same nights.

‘The change to Emmerdale’s transmission pattern will ensure we have episodes of both soaps airing on ITV until at least the early summer.’

EastEnders’ ratings soar to huge heights amid Coronavirus pandemic

EastEnders may have had to reduce its weekly transmissions amid the Coronavirus pandemic to ensure that the soap remains on the air for as long as possible, but the nation has proven that — in spite of the reduced instalments — its still as beloved as it ever was, as last night’s episode received a momumental boost in the ratings department.

According to The Sun, last night’s visit to Walford attracted an average of 6.49 million viewers — with a peak of 9.32 million! — which is approximately three million more viewers than usual.

Whether it be the fact that viewers were made to go for much longer between the previous episode and last night’s offering, or the fact that the Government are instructing the public to stay home, EastEnders was seemingly a must-watch for fans.

However, it wasn’t the only soap to perform well, as Coronation Street’s first of two episodes received 6.43 million.

This news comes after production on EastEnders — as well as Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks — was halted with immediate effect amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

It’s been quite the year for the BBC serial drama thus far — which has excelled under the leadership of Kate Oates and Jon Sen — as it celebrated its 35th anniversary back in February with a spectacular week, as the residents of Albert Square celebrated on board a party boat on the Thames.

EastEnders continues Tuesday 24 January at 7:30pm on BBC One.

Victoria Barton (Isabel Hodgins) made a huge decision in Emmerdale tonight, when — after spending the night with Luke Posner (Max Parker) — she decided to put an end to their romance, as she revealed it was too soon for her to enter into another relationship.

Victoria and Luke have been growing closer and closer over the last couple of months, and the chemistry between them has been incredibly apparent. In spite of the several attempts both made to resist said chemistry, they finally decided to make a proper go of things several weeks back.

Since then, the pair have enjoyed being together — and their relationship ultimately helped in healing the animosity between Victoria and Wendy (Susan Cookson).

Following Harry’s christening in last night’s instalment, Victoria decided that she was ready to take her relationship with Luke to the next level, and thus led him up the stairs.

During tonight’s episode, however, she revealed to Amy (Natalie-Ann Jamieson) that she believes last night proved that she isn’t ready for a relationship, and therefore she broke the news to Luke later in the instalment — something which left him devastated.

Is this truly the end for the pair?

Revenge is all that Liam Donovan (Jude Monk McGowan) has been craving in Hollyoaks over the course of the last couple of months, and — during tonight’s episode — he took drastic action to ensure he achieved said revenge, as he took Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe), James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan), Grace Black (Tamara Wall) and Maxine Kinsella (Nikki Sanderson) hostage.

Liam has become more and more unhinged, as his mission to get revenge on all those who’ve wronged not only he but his family has quickly spiralled out of control.

During last night’s episode, he made a shocking discovery when he retrieved some CCTV footage from Jesse’s (Luke Jerry) wedding, and — among said footage — was the argument the young groom had with Grace and James, which made Liam realise that the reason his younger brother turned to the booze was due to him having learned they’d shot Mercedes.

Holding Grace responsible for what transpired, Liam’s sinister side reared itself once more during tonight’s episode, as he set in motion his ‘Devil’s Dinner Party’.

Desperate to ensure his guests of honour attended, he kidnapped John Paul (James Sutton) and left Sylver (David Tag) for dead after hitting him over the head, and thus sent out invites to those he wished to be in attendance.

As the episode came to a close, a worried Mercedes joined Grace, James and Maxine at The Dog, where they found Liam — all dressed up and looking dapper — preparing for his soiree, before locking them in and pulling a gun on them all — promising a night that they’ll never forget.

Liam has well and truly got too far this time, but — with the gun-totting maniac hellbent on revenge — will one of the guests of honour die as a result?

What will transpire?

Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) was arrested during last night’s episode of EastEnders after he stole a car from a man he met in The Prince Albert, and Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway (Tony Clay) was left upset during tonight’s instalment, as he confronted his beau over his illegal actions.

Callum got wind of Ben’s dodgy dealings with Danny Hardcastle (Paul Usher), and therefore went to E20 in an effort to him his boyfriend out. However, the whole meeting ultimately went awry, as Danny became aware that Ben couldn’t hear his proposition.

A devastated Ben lashed out at Callum, before heading to The Prince Albert, where he chatted up a punter named Hugo, and proceeded to steal his car.

(Picture: BBC)

However, he was ultimately arrested for doing so, and Callum learned the bad news the hard way, as Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) told him about how Ben was supposed to leave the premises with another man.

As he sat in The Vic — nursing a drink — he spoke to Tiffany (Maisie Smith) about the importance of talking about what one wants — and how one feels — in a relationship, otherwise what’s the point?

Of course, while his words of wisdom were helping Tiffany, the subtext spoke volumes, as it became apparent that the young man could relate to everything he’d said in regards to his own relationship with Ben.

Callum in EastEnders
(Picture: BBC)

As Jack (Scott Maslen) dropped Ben back home, he criticised him for being so careless, before informing Callum that if he’s serious about the police, then he’d perhaps be better off reconsidering his choice of boyfriend.

The copper’s words went round and round in Callum’s head, as he confronted Ben once more, and informed him that he doesn’t want to do this anymore.

A horrified Ben attempted to prove that — regardless of Callum’s words and suggestions — he does, in fact, care about him.

Callum prepared to leave, but an emotional Ben apologised profusely, as he cradled his head over the worktop, in an effort to block out the silence.

Ultimately, love was stronger than duty, as Callum — in spite of his previous words — was unable to leave the love of his life in such a state, and therefore proceeded to comfort him.

No, you’re crying.

Seb Franklin (Harry Visoni) has found himself in a difficult position over the last couple of months in Coronation Street, as he attempts to move on with new girlfriend Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell), all the while living with both she and his ex Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu) and thus — in the coming episodes — he makes a big decision.

Alina returned got the street several months ago in the hopes of rekindling her romance with Seb. However, in her absence, he’d moved on with Emma, and the two had become incredibly close — and even moved in with one another.

Determined to ensure Alina’s presence on the cobbles wasn’t a bad thing, Emma invited her to say with them in their spare room.

However, she hadn’t really thought that one through, as living with Seb’s ex has provided her with a series of problems, as she often wonders if the former lovers wouldn’t prefer to get back together.

However, in spite of Emma’s worries, Seb is determined to prove that he only has eyes for her, and therefore — in the coming episodes — he returns home after spending the night at a mate’s, and reveals to his girlfriend that he’s got no interest in Alina, as she’s the only girl for him.

As a result, he later finds Alina in the cafe, and reveals that he thinks it might be best for everyone if she moves out.

How will Alina react to Seb’s decision?

Will and Cain in Emmerdale
(Picture: ITV)

Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) has been terrified at the thought of what evil DI Malone (Mark Womack) is capable of in Emmerdale, and this fear very much continues to overpower him in the coming episodes, and thus he takes drastic action — but his actions could have severe ramifications not only for he, but also for Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle).

Cain becomes worried about where Will’s loyalties lie, and thus he encourages him to pick a side, before revealing that he’s got a plan to deal with Malone.

The following day, Malone shows up and informs Will that he wants he, Cain and Billy to do a job for him. Will is nervous, and therefore he lies — telling him that both Cain and Billy are still on board, but as Malone heads off, Will has a panic attack.

Billy is worried about Will and tries to calm him down  by revealing that they’ve kept the 4×4 in order to use it against Malone.

However, problems ensue later, when Cain and Billy discover that the 4×4 has gone missing — and it soon comes to light that Will has stolen it.

Cain is naturally enraged, and vows to get revenge, as he reveals that Will’s actions mean he’s signed his own death warrant.

Regardless of Malone’s villainy, how will Cain react when he comes face-to-face with Will?

Will violence ensue?

Will he follow through on his threat?

Holby City review with spoilers: Zav vows to discover the truth about Cameron

Xavier in Holby City
Off to dig up the bodies (Picture: BBC)

Mild-mannered Dr Cameron Dunn is rapidly turning into Holby City’s very own Prince of Evil as he lies and manipulates his way out of trouble time and time again. The interesting thing about him is that he’s not a bad person – rather, he’s a weak person who can’t face failure and can’t live with the knowledge that he was responsible for Evan Crowhurst’s death.

After manipulating Jason into covering for him previously, this week he turned his mind-control powers to the altogether less impressionable Xavier. Zav was already suspicious of Cameron’s involvement in Evan’s death after observing his reactions to the investigation that was taking place. The investigators were talking to Chloe – but it was Cameron who was looking shifty.

Rather cleverly, Cameron made Xavier think that he’d poisoned him. Yes, this was a far-fetched idea but the way he did it was quite subtle and led to Xavier making a bit of a fool of himself in an operating theatre.

Cameron compounded this by sending a text to Zav’s phone from the phone of an attractive patient. This is not behaviour that Donna puts up with, and as a result the lovely romance between Xavier and Donna is teetering on the brink of break-up. And Xavier has been suspended due to his erratic and paranoid behaviour.

So, job well done for Cam and he can go to bed and sleep soundly? Well, not exactly. Xavier has vowed to expose him. ‘You’re a sad, sorry little insect,’ he told the sad, sorry little insect, promising him that he’s going to ‘dig up the bodies.’

Roger and Ben in Holby City
Roger gives Ben something to think about (Picture: BBC)

Remember Lofty’s old saxophone teacher, Roger? He was back on Keller for something medical and was keen to hear all the gossip. He wasted no time in working out that Ben was gay but terrified to show it.

We discovered why, as Ben opened up to Roger. Ben had been a junior doctor when the Admiral Duncan pub in Soho had been bombed, and the trauma of seeing how much hatred there could be towards gay people had made him hide his own sexuality.

Roger has been around the block a few times and wasn’t having that as an excuse, telling Ben he was ‘using that tragedy like a box to hide in.’

Roger himself had been almost caught up in the bombing but his way of processing the experience was to never give anyone the satisfaction of seeing him scared again.

This was a different take on why someone might choose to be in the closet and for anyone who might mutter that shows like Holby have too many gay characters it was a powerful reminder why these stories have to be told.

So Ben has left Holby, but with his head held high and a new conviction to be honest about himself. And before he went he was absolutely lovely in helping out Essie, who faced a meeting from someone from Children’s Services about Isla. Essie is now officially able to look after Isla until Frankie wants her back.

Hanssen in Holby City
Conspirator Hanssen (Picture: BBC)

Meanwhile, Nicky started experiencing some side-effects from the drugs trial she’s on to earn some money. Rather unfortunately for a surgeon, her fingers started to swell. She was eventually forced to confess to Jac that she may not be able to assist in theatre due to her sausage fingers. Jac was not best pleased.

While Cameron was busy manipulating people on AAU, Max McGerry proved that she’s quite good at that sort of thing herself when she uncovered Hanssen’s secret plotting with Ric Griffin.

She told Hanssen that AAU was being closed but to keep it a secret, so when Ric Griffin came ranting up to her office about it she knew he’d got the information from Hanssen because it wasn’t true, she said. She’d done a Coleen Rooney on them by planting some false information.

Sue Haasler is the author of five novels and the official BBC Holby City book, which you can read about here.

Holby City continues Tuesday 24 March at 8pm on BBC One.

Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) has been determined to rescue Yasmeen (Shelley King) from the evil clutches of Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) in Coronation Street, and during tonight’s double-bill, she sets a plan in motion in order to do just that, but — with Geoff having proven incredibly manipulative thus far — will her latest attempt prove successful?

Alya has been terribly worried about Yasmeen’s well-being ever since she discovered she and Geoff had tied the knot, and her fear has grown ever since, as she worries about the control the possessive man has over her gran.

In tonight’s episodes, Alya reveals to Ryan (Ryan Prescott) that Zeedan is getting married, but he’s not inviting the family to the ceremony.

However, Ryan believes this could be the opportunity that Alya has been waiting for to get Yasmeen away from Geoff, and thus he suggests that she call Zeedan back — insisting that they’re coming to wedding whether he likes it or not.

Alya and Ryan later pay Yasmeen a visit and reveal that Zeedan is getting wed in Spain, and has obviously invited them to the ceremony.

Geoff insists that he and Yasmeen simply cannot abandon Speed Daal, so Alya wastes little time in informing him that he’s not on the guest list.

However, never one to miss an opportunity to manipulate the situation, Geoff later reveals that he too will be attending the wedding, and therefore booked a hotel as a result.

Alya is fuming.

Will she succeed in getting Yasmeen away from Geoff?

Emmerdale spoilers: Jamie Tate cheats on Andrea with Belle Dingle tonight

Jame and Belle in Emmerdale

Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln) and Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) have already given into the evident chemistry between them once before in Emmerdale, but when they did so, Jamie and Andrea (Anna Nightingale) weren’t actually together. However, the married couple are back together now, but — in spite of this — Jamie finds himself drawn to Belle once more, and the pair give into temptation once more.

The chemistry between Belle and Jamie is something that several fans noted months ago. However, with Jamie being happily married to Andrea, there was no hint that such chemistry would ever be acted upon.

On the day that Graham (Andrew Scarborough) met his demise, Jamie had something of a run-in with him, and as Belle tended to his wounds on the night in question, the pair slept together.

They’ve since attempted to keep what happened between them a secret, but — in spite of this — the chemistry is very much apparent.

During tonight’s episode, the pair are on a call out from the vets, and an upset Belle confronts Jamie over his decision to get back together with Andrea, before revealing that they can no longer be friends.

However, Jamie soon reveals that he’s only with Andrea out of guilt, and — as they discuss further — the sexual tension between proves too much and thus they kiss.

Meanwhile, Andrea waits for Jamie in her lingerie — repeatedly checking her watch. After a while, she becomes genuinely worried about him and thus decides to call him.

In a field nearby, Jamie and Belle allow the reality of their actions to sink in, as Jamie discovers all of Andrea’s missed calls.

Later, he lies to Andrea about his reasons for being late and Andrea tries to kiss him.

A guilty Jamie then kisses her back, before pushing her on to the sofa — unable to resist.

Will Andrea discover the truth?

EastEnders star Aaron Sidwell was left fearing he wouldn’t see his children amid Coronavirus lockdown

EastEnders star Aaron Sidwell was worried that he wouldn’t see his children amid the Coronavirus shutdown.

Following Boris Johnson’s speech — where he ordered the nation into lockdown — on Monday night, Aaron was confused on what this meant for children of separated parents, and whether or not they’d be able to move from house to house.

The actor — who’s best known for his iconic portrayal of Steven Beale in The BBC One serial drama — said on Twitter: ‘Remember when you’re moaning about having to home school your kids, I just lost the ability to see mine!’

However, the cabinet minister Michael Gove appeared on BBC News to clarify comments he’d previously made on Good Morning Britain — in regards to the situation of moving kids from home to home — and said:

‘On a previous broadcast on Good Morning Britain, I stressed where possible, this should be kept to a minimum.’

‘It is the case that children under the age of 18 can see both parents. I was not clear earlier.’

Following this, Aaron took to Twitter once more to relay his relief, saying: ‘

‘Thank f**k for that! I barely slept a wink! The thought of not seeing my kids was heartbreaking. Thank you to everyone who helped make this clear for us (separated/divorced parents) and to everyone who sent me such lovely messages. #StayAtHomeSaveLives#TheShowMustGoOnline’

Aaron is best known to viewers for his superb portrayal of Steven Beale — son of Cindy Williams (Michelle Collins) and Simon Wicks (Nick Berry) — in EastEnders for two stints.

Originally appearing between 2007 and 2008, he reprised the role once more in 2016 and remained with the soap for another year before the character met his demise in 2017, following a fire in Beales’ restaurant — which is now known as Walford East.

EastEnders continues Monday 30 March at 7:30pm on BBC One.
