After being rescued from the crash in EastEnders courtesy of Sharon Mitchell (Letita Dean), Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) was tragically killed when she was run down by an oncoming vehicle. With word of her demise spreading around Walford like wildfire, Lisa Fowler (Lucy Benjamin) was devastated, and thus she set about seeking some sweet revenge on behalf of her best mate.
Yes, in spite of the pair’s ongoing rivalry, Sharon wasted little time in heading over to the wreckage of car accident, and proceeded to rescue Mel from the vehicle.
However — unbeknown to Sharon — Mel believed she’d heard Hunter’s (Charlie Winter) voice while trapped in the burning car, and thus she took it upon herself to head towards the incinerated car once more. In spite of Sharon’s pleas, it was too late, as Mel was knocked down by a large truck.
(Picture: BBC)
Word of Mel’s death spread around Walford like wildfire, and after learning of what had happened, Lisa was understandably devastated. In spite of their quarrels in recent weeks, the pair have been best friends for several decades — something long-time EastEnders viewers are very much aware of — and thus Mel’s passing will no doubt have a huge effect on her.
After learning that Sharon was in Mel’s company during her final moments, Lisa headed round to confront her on the matter — during which she discovered that Phil (Steve McFadden) had arrived back in Walford.
(Picture: BBC)
Noticing the literal blood on Sharon’s hands, Lisa proceeded to call her a killer — blaming her for Mel’s death.
Sharon was horrified at such a suggestion, but Lisa refused to hold back and — in a shock twist — she revealed to Phil that he’s not the father of Sharon’s baby!
Sharon attempted to handle the situation, and it was clear that Louise (Tilly Keeper) simply thought her mum wasn’t seeing things clearly due to her grief, but as Lisa departed the Mitchell household, uncertainty began to creep into Phil’s mind, as he pondered what he’d just heard.
With the seeds of doubt officially planted in Phil’s head, it appears that — in spite of her untimely death — Mel’s revenge may well come to fruition after all.
Will Phil come to learn the whole truth now that Lisa’s put doubts in his mind?
Or will Sharon be able to convince him it’s all lies?
EastEnders continues Monday 18thNovember at 8pm on BBC One.
EastEnders fans have been heaping praise on Tamzin Outhwaite as her journey in the soap as tragic and long suffering Mel Owen reached a shocking and explosive end. With Mel left dead after Hunter’s voice caused her to step in front of a lorry before Sharon Mitchell’s (Letitia Dean) eyes, viewers reacted with dismay.
They had been led to believe that she would be okay as she was pulled out of the burning car by Sharon moments before it blew up. But Lisa Fowler’s (Lucy Benjamin) warning that Mel was suffering from psychosis proved to be founded as Mel continued to hear her late son’s voice in her head.
As Sharon begged Mel to end this, Mel was drawn across the road and a lorry couldn’t stop in time as her life was ended in the most brutal of fashion.
@mouthwaite you’re outstanding. Thank you for all the years of empowerment you’ve given us. I wish you every luck and happiness with all your future endeavors 💛
Gunna miss Mel such a fantastic character and @mouthwaite portraying of Mel has been phenomenal good luck for the future your so talented and can’t wait to see what you do next ❤️❤️ #EastEnders@bbceastenders
This is the saddest I’ve been at an #EastEnders exit since Ronnie and Peggy. What an awful mistake killing such a legendary character. Gutted and wish they had have gone down a different path. @mouthwaite thank you for being such an EE icon. We will miss you dearly xx
It brings to an end Tamzin’s time in the show after a dramatic second stint over the last two years. She has been central to huge storylines including the quest for the stolen gangster money, the troubles with Hunter, the death of Ray, the romance with Jack and the dramatic Queen Vic siege.
Fans have been praising Tamzin of late, especially during her vicious spats with Sharon, her heartbreaking grief at the loss of Hunter and the restoration of her friendship with Lisa.
The storyline will continue to develop from here as Lisa searches for answers and lays blame at Sharon’s door, accusing her of killing Mel to preserve the secret that her baby isn’t Phil’s (Steve McFadden).
With Lisa having blurted this out to Phil, will she be believed? And will Lisa determine to get revenge on Mel’s behalf and finish the revenge plot against the Mitchell that her best friend has started?
Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) has become hellbent on evading far-right extremists Jonny Baxter (Ray Quinn) and Stuart Sumner (Chris Simmons) in Hollyoaks, but it’s proven incredibly difficult thus far, what with the pair watching his every move. However, in spite of this, Ste’s got a plan, but things don’t quite go according to said plan, as he’s kidnapped by Stuart as the far-right narrative comes to a conclusion.
Viewers saw Ste contact Leela (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) and Peri (Ruby O’Donnell) via Azim (Nav Sidhu), and thus his relatives helped organise him a meeting with a Prevent officer. However, Stuart soon copped on to Ste’s plan, and in the coming episodes, both he and Jonny attempt to exact revenge as the far-right storyline concludes in an epic fashion.
Yes, Ste sets his plan in motion to escape from Jonny and Stuart’s clutches. However, in doing so, he ended up trusting Jonny — as he’s under the impression that he wants to escape too.
(Picture: Lime Pictures)
As the pair plan to go to Newcastle, Ste’s horrified to realise that their taxi driver is none other than Stuart — who’s far from pleased.
Ste attempts to hightail it out of there, but Jonny and Stuart give chase. Knowing what his dad is up to, Sid (Billy Price) informs Leela, Peri and Sami that Ste’s in imminent danger.
(Picture: Lime Pictures)
They all rush off to help Ste, and Sami also finds himself in danger as a result.
We know that the storyline is set to culminate with a clifftop showdown during an hour-long special episode which airs tonight, and actor Kieron Richardson previewed what’s to come, saying: ‘You can expect Hollyoaks to do what it does best with the end of a very big story, culminating in clifftops, shocks, great writing, amazing acting and hopefully the ending that everybody wants.’
Rishi Nair also spoke about the episode, saying: ‘Sami is about to get married to Sinead, and he’s sort of excited but equally quite nervous and anxious because he’s not too sure whether she’ll turn up. We found out during the week that they’ve had a bit of a tiff on holiday so he’s going ahead with the wedding, trying to convince himself that she will turn up last minute. Somehow Sami ends up on the clifftop edge with Stuart, Jonny and Ste, and that’s where it all kicks off…’
With Sami in danger as the action takes place on the edge of a cliff, the question is: will he make it out alive?
Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) is destroyed by Robert Preston’s (Tristan Gemmill) betrayal in Coronation Street, after she discovers that he’s been living a double life with Vicky Jeffries (Kerri Quinn). However, she wastes little time in plotting her sweet revenge against her two-timing fiancé — as she sets a plan in motion in the coming episodes.
After Robert was injured in a road traffic accident, Michelle was confused as to why he’d been taken to Macclesfield Hospital when he was supposed to be in Sandbach. Her suspicions were aroused further when she discovered his big daddy necklace — in addition to the fact that he kept asking her about the baby.
After healing up, Robert went to see Vicky — and he was unaware of the fact that Michelle and Carla (Alison King) had his phone and, as a result, followed him to the address.
In the coming episodes, Michelle is working alongside Robert once more — much to Carla’s dismay. Knowing what they both know about Robert — and his relationship with Vicky — Carla (Alison King) is incredibly confused as to how Michelle can forgive him.
As a result, she confronts Michelle on the matter, and her confusion grows further when Michelle makes her promise to remain shtum about the affair.
Later in the week, Robert discusses the possibility of turning the bistro into a franchise — and Michelle agrees that it’s a good idea.
It’s likely that Michelle is keen on getting revenge on Robert for all that he’s done to her — but what exactly is her plan?
Leanna Cavanagh (Mimi Slinger) has been growing closer and closer to Jacob Gallagher in Emmerdale, but matters are complicated in the coming episodes when the pair take their relationship to the next level — and Dr Liam (Jonny McPherson) finds out about it!
Jacob learns from David (Matthew Wolfenden) and Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) that his abuser Maya (Louisa Clein) has been released from prison. Although he seems rather composed upon hearing the news, such a revelation will no doubt have a huge impact on him.
Leanna (Mimi Slinger) does her best to support Jacob — however, Jacob later disappears, and Leyla and David are sick with worry over whether or not the young lad has gone to meet with his abuser.
(Picture: ITV)
Later, when Jacob returns to the village, he speaks with Leanna once more, and this time she leans in for a passionate kiss before unbuttoning her shirt.
After sleeping together, Jacob is distant with Leanna — and she feels rejected as a result. She later opens up to Bernice (Samantha Giles) about what happened, confirming that she slept with Jacob, but asks her to promise to keep it a secret from her dad.
Bernice doesn’t know what to do for the best, but after Leanna throws up in front of Liam as a result of taking the morning after pill, she decides that Liam needs to know the truth.
The doctor is fuming as a result, and heads round to confront Jacob on the matter. He accuses Jacob of forcing his daughter in to sleeping with him, before punching him.
Later, Liam is arrested on suspicion of assault — and everyone is left speechless as a result.
Max Branning’s (Jake Wood) relationship with Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) has been anything but smooth in EastEnders, but problems persist for the pair in the coming episodes after Max is left rather embarrassed during a night out with the young woman — which leads to him making a shock decision.
During a night out at E20 with Ruby, Max is left feeling humiliated after a customer presumes that he’s Ruby’s dad instead of her lover. If that wasn’t hard enough for him to handle, both Jack (Scott Maslen) and Jean (Gillian Wright) wind him up over his relationship with the younger woman. As a result, Max comes to realisation he needs to up his game if he wants to remain with Ruby.
Determined to prove he’s serious about Ruby, he decides that proposing is the right thing to do, and thus he asks Bobby (Clay Milner Russell) for help.
However, while Max asks the young lad, Ian (Adam Woodytatt) eavesdrops on the conversation and wastes little time in winding Max up over what he’s heard.
As a result, Ian ensures that everyone is at the restaurant to watch Max’s proposal — and by the time Max learns of Ian’s plotting — it’s simply too late to back out, and thus he’s left with no other choice but to propose.
Max might’ve popped the question but, the big question is: what will Ruby have to say to his proposal?
Yes or no?
One to watch: Friday 22ndNovember at 7:30pm on BBC One.
An hour long episode of Hollyoaks will bring an end to the far right storyline tonight in dramatic fashion – and Metro Soaps Newsletter has had a first look at one of the key clips from the drama which sees Ste leave a letter for Peri and Leela before he heads out on a trip with Stuart and Jonny that he may never return from.
In the letter, he declares: ‘Don’t think of this as goodbye because really I am just going on a journey only my bags are dead heavy. I’m taking all the bad stuff with me; it just means I can’t carry you too.
‘Once I’m there, once I’ve found what I am looking for, I’m going to ditch these bags and come back for you. Don’t worry, don’t be sad because I promise you, we will see each other again.’
What follows is Stuart executing his plan to kill Ste on a clifftop but Rishi is also dragged into the mess and violent scenes break out.
(Picture: Lime Pictures)
As Leela, Peri and Sid all race to the scene to try and avert tragedy, a shocking turn of events takes place. But will everyone survive?
Kieron Richardson told us: ‘You can expect Hollyoaks to do what it does best with the end of a very big story, culminating in clifftops, shocks, great writing, amazing acting and hopefully the ending that everybody wants.
‘Going in to it, I had a lot of trepidation, but coming out the other side, it’s now one of my most favourite storylines I’ve ever done. I am quite sad that it’s over but the most important thing is the message that it’s brought and hopefully it’s highlighted an issue that needed to be talked about.’
The hour long special airs on Friday 15 November at 7pm on E4.

Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) in Coronation Street said an emotional goodbye to his wife Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) after she lost her battle with cancer a few weeks ago and as the aftermath of her death continues to affect a number of people on the cobbles, not only his family but viewers have also been wondering just how Sinead’s death will affect Daniel.
Daniel has a lot of guilt weighing on his shoulders after kissing Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon), but where could his storyline go next?
He leaves the street
Recent episodes saw Daniel take son Bertie to Scotland for some time away from the street. As he returns to the street tonight to say his goodbyes at Sinead’s funeral, could the time away that Daniel had allowed him to think about his life on the cobbles, and possibly leave the street for good?
He has a breakdown
In 2017, Daniel had a breakdown during the months when Ken Barlow (William Roche) discovered it was Daniel who pushed him down the stairs. In the week of Sinead’s final days, viewers saw Daniel kiss Bethany and pass out by the canal after heavily drinking. With Daniel feeling guilty for his actions and also having the stress of looking after baby Bertie as a single father, could things get too much for him and result in a breakdown? If this does happen, who will be around to care for Bertie?
His relationship with Bethany continues
Bethany and Daniel began to grow closer when a man from Bethany’s sex abuse past came into the Bistro with his family. As Sinead’s cancer storyline progressed, Daniel and Bethany grew closer together but it didn’t go unnoticed as Sinead and Audrey (Sue Nicholls) both asked Daniel and Bethany if there was anything going on. Despite the denials, a short story that Bethany wrote of which Sinead had read, allowed her to figure out that her husband had been disloyal. As well as Daniel feeling guilty for kissing Bethany, it’s safe to say that Bethany feels as though she is to blame. The chemistry is there between the two of them, so could Daniel move on from Sinead and see his relationship with Bethany continue? We know that Lucy Fallon is set to leave the soap early next year, could this be the start of her exit storyline?
His mum Denise returns
We last saw Daniel’s mum Denise (Denise Black) in 2017 during Daniel’s breakdown. The two of them have an interesting relationship to say the least and when Denise’s name was mentioned to Daniel after Sinead had died, he refused to tell his mother and have her support. As Daniel adapts to life as a single parent, could we be seeing the return of Denise so she can help her son? If Daniel doesn’t want to contact Denise, could things get so bad someone else contacts her instead?
He makes mistakes as a single dad
(Picture: ITV)
Raising a child on your own is an incredibly difficult job, but raising a child on your own after your wife lost her battle with cancer would make everything a lot tougher. There is no doubt that Daniel is a good dad who cares for Bertie and, after making a promise to Sinead that he will look after Bertie, so far he’s certainly managed things as well as he could. If Daniel is unable to cope and talk about how he is feeling which could lead to a possible breakdown, what affect will this have on his son? If Daniel doesn’t look after himself, how will he be able to look after Bertie?
He accepts help
Just because of Daniel’s past, it doesn’t necessarily mean the path he takes without Sinead will be a negative one. Of course, the man will grieve, he’s just lost his wife! But based on how he was in 2017, Daniel could accept all sorts of help from everyone offering. We’ve seen him distance himself from people before he went away but as he returns to the cobbles for the funeral, could Daniel realise how important it is to have his family and Bertie’s family around him and allow people to help him move on?
EastEnders has left fans stunned with a massive car crash stunt which Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) miraculously walked away from – only for her to then be hit by a lorry as Hunter’s voice tormented her.
It turned out that Lisa Fowler (Lucy Benjamin) had been right about Mel struggling with a growing psychosis but with Mel gone, Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) now faces the consequences of a shocking accusation from Lisa – that she killed Mel!
Lisa has told Phil (Steve McFadden) that the reason Mel is dead is because that she found out that Sharon’s baby isn’t his and it’s clearly startled him. But will Sharon use Lisa’s ill health to her advantage and make out that she is fantasising as a result of her own psychosis?
Phil was certainly left with a lot to process in the wake of Lisa’s dramatic accusations and Sharon’s outbursts certainly didn’t help matters. But is it confession time? It’s no secret that Phil will discover the truth about Sharon and Keanu (Danny Walters) before the year is out – culminating in a dramatic exit for Keanu.
Could he be set to meet the same fate as Mel?
Meanwhile, discussion is rife among Albert Square next week following the death of Mel and residents gather in the Vic to discuss everything that has happened. With gossip rife over the circumstances of Mel’s demise and the events leading up to it, can Sharon cope with hearing whispers all around?
(Picture: BBC)
Raising a glass to Mel, Tina (Luisa Bradshaw-White), Sonia (Natalie Cassidy), Karen (Lorraine Stanley) and Linda (Kellie Bright) remember her but not everyone has such fond memories and Sharon’s family life is hanging by a thread.
With Lisa wanting answers, will she end the mission that Mel started – and destroy the Mitchells forever?
EastEnders continues on Monday 18 November at 8pm on BBC One.
Coronation Street star Jane Hazlegrove was overcome during Lorraine today as she watched back a clip of Paul Foreman confront her character Bernice Winter over his step-dad and sexual predator, Kel.
Paul (played by Peter Ash) has been tortured by a devastating secret that he was sexually abused by his mother’s boyfriend as a teenager, believing they had a consensual relationship, unaware Kel (Joe Alessi) was doing anything wrong.
After years apart, Kel returned in Paul’s life after reconciling with Bernie and now the truth is about to come pouring out with harrowing ripples for the entire family.
‘I think that Paul left home when he was 14 and Kel had been living in the house for some time,’ Jane explained to Lorraine. ‘She had no idea what was happening and we’re about to find out and the consequences of that aren’t going to be great, I’m afraid.’
‘For everybody when something like this is revealed it affects every single person,’ she continued. ‘Not just Paul and everything he’s buried, it’s every single person around them. It ripples through the family forever.’
After watching a clip of Paul telling Bernie that she failed him, a particularly proud Jane was visibly emotional.
The trauma will have devastating consequences (Picture: ITV)
‘He was so brilliant, Peter, and it was a massive monologue and he really worked so hard; and it was quite contained in the studio and he’s just brilliant,’ she enthused.
‘They’re all brilliant; I love my family so much.’
Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod spoke out on the chilling storyline.
Kel’s secret will out (Picture: ITV)
He explained: ‘Gemma and Paul’s family background has always been fascinating to me – the inseparable bond of twins but with a huge fault-line down the middle, which we’ve hinted at but never explained.
‘This story sensitively explores something that is tragically all too common in families in the real world and will highlight the way these painful events still reverberate many years later.
‘It will, I hope, allow people who have survived similar abuse and perhaps suffered in silence to find their voice and speak up.’
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.

After Sinead Tinker’s (Katie McGlynn) death in Coronation Street, Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) was unable to remain on the cobbles surrounded by memories of happier times, and thus he departed with son Bertie. Sick with worry about Daniel’s whereabouts, Ken Barlow (William Roache) and Claudia (Rula Lenska) set off for Scotland in the hopes of tracking him down.
The pair’s search proves fruitless, as they arrive back on the cobbles tonight having failed to locate Daniel. As a result, Peter (Chris Gascoyne) grows worried, and thus he takes it upon himself to try and get in touch with the young man. After several attempts, he finally gets hold of Daniel, who admits that he’s actually in Cheshire.
Meanwhile, in Cheshire, Daniel sits on a blustery hillside, as he contemplates life without Sinead and what to do for the best. However, he’s shocked when Peter turns up.
The pair converse, and Peter does his utmost to convince Daniel to return home to Weatherfield.
He makes a good case, arguing that with Sinead gone, Bertie is in need of his family more than ever. What’s more, he also mentions that worrying about him — not to mention the search for him — has well and truly taken its toll on Ken.
Daniel ponders everything that Peter has told him, but what will his decision be?
Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) continues to be on the warpath in Emmerdale following the kidnap of her son Moses and she could end up heading over the edge – but Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Chas (Lucy Pargeter) soon realise that she is not backing down.
As Charity puts Cain in his place once more, she then comes face to face with Chas at the pub and tells her that she has drawn up a new rota so that they never share shifts behind the bar. She had already made it clear that she was no longer prepared to spend any time with her that she didn’t need to.
Chas is aghast at how far Charity is going and points out that it doesn’t fit in with her childcare needs but Charity rejects this, saying that it’s not her problem. Chas is more fuming than ever and any chance of the relationship being resolved looks a long way off.
The next person she ends up sparring with is Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) – when she tells the teenager that she has banned Cain from seeing her, Sarah reminds her that it isn’t her choice to make and she can see who she wants to see.
After they end up in a row, it’s Danny (Louis Healy) she turns to. Will Charity realise that Sarah is at risk or is she too consumed with the feuds she is currently fighting? It’s no secret that Sarah will be at risk from Danny – especially when he offers her pills.
Is she set to go off the rails and will Charity be too consumed with her crumbling relationships to notice? With her relationship with Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) on the rocks, is Charity on a downward spiral?
Emmerdale airs these scenes on Friday 15 November at 7pm on ITV.
EastEnders icon Shaun Williamson, best known for playing bumbling Barry Evans in the soap, has revealed that his house is being haunted by a ghost called Rosemary – and he has had to employ the expertise of ghost hunter Derek Acorah.
Shaun, who also appeared as ‘Barry’ in Extras and is a keen quizzer, revealed that he and his wife moved into their new house and very quickly started hearing noises, which Derek has attributed to a poltergeist.
Speaking on Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre podcast, Shaun explained: ‘I was in Celebrity Big Brother with Derek Acorah and I believe he sees and feels everything he believes he sees and feels.
‘We moved into a new house, myself and my current wife Adele. And straight away there were banging noises – we’d got a ghost. Derek rang me up because he wanted me to be on his radio show and he said, “Rosemary – Rosemary is the name of the lady who lives in your house”.’
Well, if we were a ghost, we’d probably want to chill with an EastEnders star too.
He added: ‘We do have a noisy ghost in our house and according to Derek, it’s called Rosemary. I do believe the spirits of people linger where they were and all the time there is more evidence of poltergeists – so I assume there must be.’
It’s not the first time that Shaun and Derek have shared a ghostly experience – Derek reckoned that they were guided by spirits when they were in the Celevrity Big Brother house.
Shaun was killed off from EastEnders after several years playing the luckless Barry. He had made the mistake of falling in love with devilish Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks), who eventually shoved him down a steep hill to his death.
His role in Extras played on the joke that he would always be most remembered for Barry.
Viewers have just seen them get married and now, young newlyweds Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith) and Keegan Baker (Zack Morris) are looking to the future in EastEnders. Fans were delighted to see them finally tying the knot as they committed to one another – and the actors are now hopeful that there are some happy times ahead.
As the couple settle into their domestic life, fans will see them make their way as a young, married couple – determined to prove the doubters wrong. And, at least for the short term, they will be sticking together.
Maisie added: ‘All we can say is there’s going to be a lot of happiness! The viewers will love it, we’re loving it – it’s all just so much fun!’
(Picture: BBC)
Sounds uncharacteristically uplifting for EastEnders! And the pair are loving working together as much as viewers enjoy watching.
Zack enthused: ‘I think they’re good together, they have both been through some stuff and they both have similar personalites. They both have a bit of fire to them, but they’re good people deep down. So they’re great for each other.
‘We get on really well. That’s been cool – a lot of the scenes we have been doing recently have been together. It’s all good – working with Maisie is great!’
However while joyful scenes are all well and good, the stars don’t want it to last forever and have called for some hardhitting stuff before too long.
Maisie said: ‘I like the big issue storylines. As an actor, I think it’s a massive honour to do something that could really make a change, and also learn about something you may have no idea about.’
Zack replied: ‘I like the angry scenes – they’re fun! Especially with the Taylor family. I look forward to doing big arguments, because they’re always so great to film!’
Whenever we interview a member of the Emmerdale cast, the message is invariably always the same – the team are like family. So when a key member has to go as part of the storyline process, it’s an emotional time as actors say goodbye to close friends and colleagues.
And one of the biggest losses felt by Emmerdale – and its fans – was Michael Praed, whose character Frank Clayton was killed in an explosion earlier this year. It created a massive storyline for many characters but Amy Walsh, who plays Tracy Shankley, admitted that it was a double edged sword saying goodbye.
She told the Inside Soap Yearbook 2020: ‘It’s been amazing for me but awful for Tracy! I’ve absolutely loved having such a big storyline to get my teeth into. It was bittersweet, because we had to lose Michael Praed but I had lots of great stuff to film, so it was a double edged sword. Tracy’s had a really hard time, but that’s life, and she’ll have to rise again.
‘Filming Frank’s death scenes was the biggest challenge. The explosion part had gone so well, and everyone was cheering as if it was all over. But we still had to do our acting parts, so we couldn’t drop the ball! The pressure on us to sell it was massive, and I had to scream at the top of my lungs about 15 times for one shot where Tracy sees him dead on the floor. I remember needing a gin at the end!’
She added: ‘Everybody in the building was devastated to see Michael leave, he’s massively missed but I had the pleasure of seeing him at the weekend – and it was just a joy. He’s an amazing man and we’re going to meet up in London and see a show together.’
Coronation Street star Alison King has revealed that she’s all for Carla Connor and Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) to have happier times and to be more involved with the family dynamic of the family household.
After an arduous year for the couple, which drove Carla to a devastating breakdown, they have come out of the other side and are now looking to the future. And, in the wake of the death of Sinead, Alison has enjoyed becoming more and more a part of Corrie’s main clan.
She told Inside Soap Yearbook 2020: ‘There’s lots of lovely stuff on screen right now post Sinead’s death in which Carla and Peter are very much a part of the family. I’d love to work more with that baby Bertie too – oh my gosh, he’s gorgeous! I’m not broody but every time I have a scene with him I don’t want to give him back, he’s amazing – he never looks sad or cries, it’s nice to see Carla and Peter with a baby – as it’s a glimpse of what they could have had.
‘Everyone really helps lighten the mood – I’m really going to miss Kym Marsh when she leaves as she is my happy place, she’s brilliant but with this big story, I had Chris Gascoyne and David Neilson and they’re great guys to have around.
‘If I wasn’t sure about something or if something seemed over the top, they were great at helping me rein it back in – they were always truthful and beautiful but at the same time, they’re really, really funny. They’re so supportive.’
But there are others she would love to work with more.
She added: ‘Carla had a really feisty relationship with Leanne years and years ago and Jane Danson and I don’t work much together anymore. I’ve not really worked much with many of the girls for a while – I miss working with Kate Ford and Sally Dynevor. But I’m happy working with Chris – he’s just brilliant.’
There are troubling times ahead for Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) and Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) as the couple are seen heading to court in new scenes being filmed for the new year by the Coronation Street cast – but who is in trouble and what have they done?
At the moment, the couple have nanny Jade under their roof but viewers have noticed some sinister behaviour from her as she has clearly got it in for Fiz. Could Jade have framed her for a crime or got her into trouble another way, leading to her having to defend herself?

Or, is the situation even more serious? In a dramatic Christmas twist, could Fiz or Tyrone have lashed out or defended themselves against Jade, leading to a shocking death? The scenes are currently shrouded in mystery but Jennie has already promised a dramatic Christmas for Fiz – and added that ‘she wouldn’t say if someone would die’. Ominous!

Meanwhile, Maureen Lipman – who plays battleaxe Evelyn Plummer – told Metro.co.uk that the storyline under the Dobbs roof would be centering around troublesome Jade. So what is she up to and what is she capable of?
And are Tyrone and Fiz facing jail time?

Of course, there’s every possibility that it could have been Evelyn herself who has committed the crime – she hasn’t been averse to a scheme or two in the past. But whatever happens, it looks like there are solemn times as someone needs to defend themselves.
Luckily they have Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) in attendance with them – but will that be enough to solve the issue? Or is this just the beginning of a nightmare for Fiz and Tyrone.
Viewers have been speculating about Jade’s intentions towards the stable Corrie couple but fans will just have to wait and see who is responsible for them ending up in court – and how serious things are.
The actress — who portrays Shona Ramsey on the ITV soap — was pictured in a post on co-star Jane Danson’s — who plays Leanne Battersby — Instagram account.
The two Corrie regulars smiled for the picture, which Jane captioned with: Happy maternity leave beautiful @julia_goulding . Im so excited for you. Enjoy this special time. Happiest days.’
Julia replied to Jane’s post with: ‘Awww thanks, love you Jane! Thanks for looking after me in the lead up!’
Co-star Georgia Taylor — who plays Toyah Battersby on the long-running serial drama — also commented on the post, saying: ‘Oh what a gorgeous pic you two lovelies xxx.’
Additionally, fans were quick to comment their messages of support below, with one saying: ‘Take care and enjoy your new little one. Hope to see you back on the cobbles again soon. Xx’ while another added: Enjoy some rest before baby arrives Julia. Such an exciting time. Hope all goes well when the time comes xxx.
Julia’s character Shona has had an incredibly tough year thus far, what with fiancé David (Jack P Shepherd) ending up behind bars. Matters were made worse when — just weeks away from his imminent release — he ended up in trouble when he was accused of stabbing rapist Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton).
Eventually Josh revealed the truth, which meant that David and Shona were able to get married — moments after he was released from prison.
Although Julia’s on maternity leave, we’re not quite sure what will lead to Shona taking some time away from the cobbles, but given everything the character’s been through over the past couple of months, she certainly deserves a holiday!
It’s been a hellish end to the year for Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) as he is currently facing the traumatic grief of losing his beloved wife Sinead to cancer. As he battles his feelings of desperate loss, he is also trying to do his best by Bertie but Coronation Street fans know that he isn’t coping.
While Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) manages to convince him to come home for Sinead’s funeral, things kick off again for him after his painful goodbye as he loses memories of his beloved Sinead when the laptop containing her final videos is stolen.
He goes off the rails and the police have to get involved when he storms into a shop and accuses the seller of dealing in stolen goods. But that is just the beginning of the journey for the long suffering character as his turmoil won’t end any time soon.
Rob told The Inside Soap Yearbook 2020: ‘I always see the story as being in split into two, the first part was leading up to the death, and the other is about being a widower at a young age, and not knowing how to navigate that.
‘Sinead’s death was a peak, but this story won’t be winding down anytime soon.’
Revealing his mixed feelings about finding out that Sinead was going to die, Rob added: ‘I was sad to see Katie leave but glad to take on the story. And I was glad to know it was going to be handled the way it was.
Katie kept saying that she wanted Sinead to die, to show the consequences of doing what she did with the alternative therapies and stuff like that. To get what we wanted – girls getting themselves checked – Sinead had to die to have that impact.’
