David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) has had plenty to deal with in Coronation Street over the past couple of months, but things are set to get a whole lot worse for the young man in the coming episodes, when he finds himself involved in a violent prison riot. Will someone lose their life as a result?

A riot breaks out at the prison in upcoming scenes, and David — shocked by what’s transpiring — retreats to his cell.

However, matters are made worse when Abe drags a terrified Josh (Ryan Clayton) into David’s cell, before handing the young man a pair of scissors and informing him to do as he pleases with his rapist.

David tells Abe that he wants to deal with Josh alone — will he take advantage of the riot and exact violent revenge?

Meanwhile, Shona (Julia Goulding) is horrified when the riot is shown on the news, as the family watch on in horror.

Later, David rings his girlfriend, and informs her that Josh has been stabbed and that she needs to get him a lawyer.

Is David responsible for the attack on Josh? Or did the rapist simply get caught up in the riot?

The biggest question, of course, is: does Josh die?

If so, David could be in a whole lot of trouble and, with him already serving a prison sentence, a murder charge would be the last thing he needs right now.

One to watch: Monday 21st October at 8:30pm on ITV.

(Credit: BBC)

Since returning from her honeymoon-for-one, Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) has been enjoying a whirlwind romance with Leo King (Tom Wells) in EastEnders. Unbeknownst to her, Leo is the son of paedophile Tony (Chris Coghill) who abused her a decade ago, so it’s clear the young man’s intentions are anything but honourable. However, could ex-fiancé Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway (Tony Clay) be the one to save her?

After spending the night with Ben (Max Bowden), Callum came clean to Whitney the day before the pair’s wedding. Understandably, Whitney was left heartbroken, but she ultimately resolved to carry on with the wedding, However, when its came the time to say ‘I do’, she was unable to do so, and thus told Callum that both of them deserve better than second best.

Following this, Bianca (Patsy Palmer) persuaded her to jet off on her honeymoon by herself and — with a couple of weeks away to gather her thoughts — Whitney returned home, and opened up to Tiffany (Maisie Smith) about her new whirlwind romance. It soon came to light that her new fella was none other than Leo — the son of paedophile Tony King, who abused Whitney when she was younger.

The young man is evidently out for revenge, and with his plan well and truly set in motion, Whitney is in serious danger. However, could Callum perhaps be the one to rescue her from the villainous lad’s evil plan?

In the coming episodes, Whitney is left upset when her stall is vandalised, and — never one to miss an opportunity — Leo comes to her aid. However, in spite of him attempting to behave like a gentleman, he’s soon left disgruntled, as he realises that Callum could well be a thorn in his side — as the presence of Whitney’s ex could end up spoiling his plan to get close to her.

In spite of their history, Whitney and Callum have begun to build a friendship, so could the young lad prove instrumental in Leo’s downfall?

If there’s one thing we know about Callum, it’s that he cares for Whitney, so should he get wind of what Leo’s really like, then he could end up saving her from the evil man.

Ben with Tubbs in EastEnders
(Picture: BBC)

EastEnders has revealed that Ben Mitchell’s (Max Bowden) descent into the world of crime is set to get even worse as he takes shocking action to make someone pay – with Martin Fowler (James Bye) taking the brunt of his wrath.

With Ben and Tubbs upping the pressure on Martin, who has been forced into their criminal activities due to Ben’s blackmail, Martin takes reckless action that could have dire consequences for him and his family.

Ben has already issued a very pointed threat towards vulnerable Bex (Jasmine Armfield) which led to Martin beating the living daylights out of him. But if anything, Ben has just been made even more determined to make Martin suffer – and he is going to do that ten fold.

When Martin double crosses him, Ben determines to make him see that he means business. And Martin is left in a life or death situation that has terrifying and violent consequences – just what is Ben about to do and could this be the end of Martin?

Another person suffering due to Ben’s blackmail is Stacey (Lacey Turner) – who can’t return until Martin has sorted things out. But as things get even nastier, that doesn’t look set to be any time soon. However, Lacey – who recently gave birth and is on maternity leave – has filmed some scenes as Stacey.

Could she be forced to rush to Martin’s side as he battles terrible injuries – or worse?

An EastEnders spokesperson teased: ‘With Tubbs’ help, Ben’s behaviour is set to take a dark turn in coming weeks as he goes to extreme lengths to get what he wants… but who does he have his sights on and how far is he willing to go?’

Things will come to a serious head in an episode which will air on Friday 25th October at 8pm on BBC One.

Emmerdale spoilers: Who dies in devastating Cain and Moira Dingle boat explosion?

(Picture: ITV)

Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J Robb) ill advised affair with farmhand Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) is about to end with a different kind of bang when Cain (Jeff Horldey) traps them on a boat in Emmerdale – which ends up exploding. But who will live and who will die?

After Cain discovers the shocking truth of what has been going on behind his back, he temporarily swallows his rage in order to trick Moira and Nate into joining him for a fishing trip. But before long, Moira realises that something is amiss – and, as Cain launches a ferocious attack on Nate, things get out of control.

A series of terrible events brings Cain and Nate to the brink of death and as Moira ends up trapped underwater, a catastrophic explosion follows, leaving everyone at serious risk.

Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira, told Metro.co.uk: ‘Cain asks Moira to go below into the cabin to make them all bacon butties and a cup of tea whilst they talk. She’s really uncomfortable down in the cabin as she can’t really hear what they are saying up above and she is just thinking – “Oh no what is going on up there?”

Boat explosion in Emmerdale
(Picture: ITV)

‘She knows something is really weird when she hears a bump – a big thud from up on deck. First there is no noise, then suddenly this solid thud and of course she doesn’t know who the thud belongs to.

‘The fight was very well choreographed by the stunt coordinator and director it was really good and quite a long fight actually and equally matched too. It looks rather dangerous as they are on this tiny sailboat. The stunt doubles were brilliant, but Jeff and Jurell did the whole fight too.’

As disaster takes place, Natalie promises spectacular scenes as an explosion brings the fight to an abrupt end – but she was remaining tight lipped over who would make it out alive.

She shared: ‘We did see the explosion as that was the first thing that we did when we were away filming on location in the Halifax area. We watched all that before we did our scenes. It was good to see, it was really nice they set the bar high and from then on we worked up to that and shot all the before and aftermath. We shot all the sequences out of order. It was really good to do.

‘It was a really good experience and I loved getting out of my comfort zone. Jeff and I found the underwater stuff much harder than the stuff we normally get to do. I think it is really good to push yourself and I believe if you can get out of your comfort zone regularly then you will always better yourself. It may be mental, physical or emotional but I think it’s good to scare yourself at times.’

Emmerdale spoilers: Chas Dingle trapped in dramatic birth struggle

Chas and Marlon in Emmerdale
(Picture: ITV)

Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) is left in a difficult situation in dramatic Emmerdale birth scenes – as she ends up trapped in the Woolpack toilets as she goes into labour, with only a panicking Marlon (Mark Charnock) for support.

With the Woolpack re-opened, has and Marlon head to check a problem with the toilets only to find themselves locked in. During the re-opening party, Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) is DJ-ing so no-one can hear Chas and Marlon’s shouts for help.

Speaking about the awkward scenes, Lucy told Metro.co.uk: ‘Charity’s got stuck on the motorway somewhere because she’s put the wrong fuel in her car, Paddy can’t be located, everyone’s running around like headless chickens, Chas should be on maternity leave but of course she’s the one trying to get everything up and running. She’s questioning Marlon because she can’t find Paddy and he runs off in to the men’s loos to avoid her.

‘Chas follows him and unbeknownst to him, there’s something wrong with the door and they can’t get out. Initially they’re joking around, then her waters go and they’re stuck. She’s a bit afraid because she’s been having pains but she thought it was all stress. Paddy’s not there with her, she really wanted Paddy to be there and she also wanted to be in a hospital because of what happened with Grace. It looks like she’s going to be stuck there with Marlon who’s not the biggest help in the world. He’s slightly panicking himself, so it’s not the best situation and things progress quite quickly.’

As they tend to do in Emmerdale! As Marlon grabs Chas’ hand after making a makeshift bed for her, she prepares to give birth with only a bumbling chef for support. But will everything go okay – and will Paddy make it to the special moment?

Lucy continued: ‘Marlon starts off a bit flaky and panicky as any man would be, but as time goes on Marlon realises people are on the other side of the door as well. It gives him strength and he does what a cousin would do – he loves Chas, they’ve got a great relationship – and he gets it in his head that he’s there for her, they can do it and he’s a calming influence on her.’

It remains to be seen how it plays out but Lucy is confident that her character will make a great – if initially wary – mum to the newborn.

She mused: ‘Like any mum, there’s that paranoia of I’ve got to keep looking at her and waking her up and checking on her, but they know that there’s nothing physically wrong with the baby. She’s going to be slightly more paranoid but hopefully as the months go on, they settle in to parenthood and things will calm down a bit.’

Jay in EastEnders

Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) has spent the last several years in EastEnders helping those in mourning plan the funeral of a recently deceased relative — much like he did with Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) when she lost her son Hunter (Charlie Winter) — but, this time, it’s he who will have to deal with a sudden death — and he’s left devastated as a result.

In the coming episodes, Jay makes plans to have a day out with Lola (Danielle Harold) and Lexi. However, these plans are soon scuppered where he gets a new booking at work. To make matters worse, this booking ain’t no ordinary booking either, and both Jay and Callum (Tony Clay) are amazed at the scale of the funeral that’s been requested.

The real shock comes later, as Jay learns of who’s funeral it is that he’ll be arranging — and he’s left reeling as a result. Yes, the service is for Terry Bates — the man responsible for his father Jase’s (Stephen Lord) death.

Upon seeing Jay’s disdain for Terry first-hand, Callum asks Ben (Max Bowden) for help. Meanwhile Lola comforts Jay.

Later in the week, Lola informs Billy (Perry Fenwick) about what’s transpired, which leads to Jay having an emotional heart-to-heart with him.

This discovery will no doubt bring back bad memories for Jay, who lost his dad as a result of the villainous Terry’s actions back in 2008.

Emmerdale spoilers: Devastating aftermath revealed for Aaron Dingle after Robert Sugden’s exit

Robert and Aaron in Emmerdale
(Picture: ITV)

Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) is set to be left a broken man following the exit of Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) from Emmerdale – and Lucy Pargeter has warned that the character could slip back down a dark path with his history of depression and self harm.

After the death of rapist Lee Posner, Aaron and Robert made the decision to flee upon realising there was no realistic prospect of Robert getting a lenient sentence. And while we can’t reveal what splits Robron apart, Aaron will end up back in the village – and feeling hollow and distraught without his soulmate.

Speaking about Chas’ fears for her son, Lucy shared: ‘She’s worried about his state of mind, she’s worried about what could happen to Aaron, as in his self harming or his depression or going off the rails. That’s always in the background. She’s offered her help, she’s tried to be strong and said right get over him you need to move forward and try to be there for him, so she’s quite concerned about his mental state.’

It’s not just Aaron that she is anxious about either. After giving birth to her new baby – in the Woolpack toilets of all places – Lucy reckons that Chas will be quite an anxious and paranoid mother to the newborn at first.

She pondered: ‘She will be a little more fearful, more wanting her baby monitor next to her constantly and maybe a movement pad underneath and a breathing thing on her and I think she will be by her side every minute that she can.

‘She’s starting back to work straight away so the baby will be with her behind the bar. Like any mum, that paranoia of I’ve got to keep looking at her and waking her up and checking on her, but they know that there’s nothing physically wrong with the baby. She’s going to be slightly more paranoid but hopefully as the months go on, they settle in to parenthood and things will calm down a bit.’

Hollyoaks spoilers: Breda McQueen reveals the truth about her crimes?

Breda and Tony in Hollyoaks

Breda McQueen has been on a killing spree in Hollyoaks for the best part of a year, cleansing the village of those whom she believes to be bad dads. However, the truth about her crimes could be set to out in the coming episodes as — at Goldie’s (Chelsee Healey) request — she speaks to a psychiatrist.

After Sylver (David Tag) and Goldie became worried about Breda’s state of mind, the pair began to investigate what their mum was getting up to — and Goldie became convinced that Breda had been sleeping out in the pig farm. After Goldie confronted her with this, Breda was forced to lie so that the truth could remain hidden. As a result, she promised Goldie that she’d sell the farm.

However, in the coming episodes, Joel (Rory Douglas-Speed) suggests that Goldie should call the estate agent for an update on the farm. The young woman does exactly that, but she’s left perturbed when she realises that the farm was never put on the market in the first place.

Afterwards, Goldie confronts Breda with this new information, but the villainous granny claims that the estate agent is lying — but she’s not convinced by her mum’s explanation, and thus books her an appointment with a psychiatrist.

Later, Breda opens up to Tony (Nick Pickard) about her troubles, and the imprisoned man suggests that she might be better off attending the appointment her daughter’s arranged for her.

As a result, she turns up at the hospital — for no other purpose but to humour everyone. However, it’s pretty clear that she’s incredibly hostile, and in a moment of anger, she reveals too much to the psychiatrist — who’s left incredibly concerned by what she’s said. As a result, Breda storms out.

Afterwards, Breda packs a bag with food, but — before she can leave — she’s stopped in her tracks by Sylver, Goldie and Jack (Jimmy McKenna).

Is the truth finally out?

Will the reason for Breda’s odd behaviour finally come to light?

Coronation Street spoilers: Rob Mallard reveals that Sinead Tinker’s death will change Daniel Osbourne

Daniel and Sinead in Coronation Street
(Picture: ITV)

Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) has been through hell this past year in Coronation Street, what with wife Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) having been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and — in the coming episodes — Sinead bids farewell to her friends and family before passing away — and Daniel will find himself in a brave new world without the love of his life as a result.

Sinead’s battle with cancer last year proved incredibly difficult not only for her, but also for boyfriend Daniel, who remained with her every step of the way. The pair were all set to start a new life together with son Bertie, as they tied the knot in an emotional ceremony earlier this year, but their world came crashing down once more when Sinead was informed that her cancer had returned and that, this time, it was terminal.

After bidding farewell to her friends and family, a series of emotional episodes will see Sinead pass away at the end of next week. With Sinead having been the love of Daniel’s life, having to say goodbye will no doubt be an incredibly difficult task for the young man, so how will be cope following her death?

Actor Rob Mallard said: ‘There’s been a foreshadowing of the self-destructive element, you’ll see that first. The snap of the elastic, can’t expect him to keep it together straight away. He has Bertie to focus on, but that’s the next stage of the story – Sinead has told him all these things, forgive himself and all of that, but it’s all caught up in the death.’

‘He now has to unpick all of that, the meaning and the message of what she said and actually apply it. But with the trauma and shock, you get away from that as quickly as possible. There will be changes in Daniel, but may take a bit of time to implement it.’

Although Sinead’s life will come to an end, this isn’t the end of the story as — much like in real-life — her close friends and family will have to come to terms with life without her, and for Daniel it’ll be particularly difficult, as — in addition to mourning the love of his life — he’ll also be faced with the fact that he now has to raise Bertie on his own.

Rob said: ‘It’s a continuation. There’s two parts – there’s that part to the story, and then it moves into the people who’ve been left behind.’

‘Before Sinead, he was completely self-motivated and concentrated on survival, because he’d been on his own for ages. I think even though he’ll try to be stoic for the sake of the baby, you can’t suppress the worst parts of your personality. The nastiness, the bitchiness and moaning that he’s very good at.’

‘He doesn’t want to do that because of the kid and the promise that he made, but it’ll probably seep into everywhere else and go onto other characters. We’ve filmed stuff like that. They’ll get his bad moods because he can’t do it to the kids.’

On Daniel’s reaction to Sinead’s death, Corrie’s Executive Producer, Iain MacLeod said: ‘The early phase of this story is that Daniel’s is so obsessively taking care of Bertie that he’s neglecting himself because he feels like the promise he made to Sinead was to look after Bertie and never let him down, but he fails to appreciate that if you’re not looking after yourself, then that in its own way is still letting down your son.

Coronation Street spoilers: David Platt stabs and kills Josh Tucker in violent revenge?

David and Josh in Coronation Street

David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) was horrified when rapist Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton) showed up in prison in Coronation Street and, with emotions running high during the coming episodes, he’s given an opportunity to exact revenge on the young man. The question is: will he take it?

David’s world came crashing down last year when he was drugged and raped by best mate Josh. With Shona’s (Julia Goulding) help, he was able to come to terms with his ordeal and, although the police were unable to prove what had happened to him, he was ultimately able to move on after ensuring that Josh never returned to the Street.

The rapist later resurfaced in prison — an incident which brought all of the traumatic memories back for David. In the coming episodes, a riot breaks out and, in an attempt to stay out of trouble, David returns to his cell.

However, during the commotion Abe drags Josh into David’s cell, and hands the young lad a pair of scissors, telling him to do whatever he wants to his rapist. The Weatherfield legends tells Abe that he wants to deal with Josh alone —but will he exact violent revenge?

Meanwhile, Shona learns of the riot via the news and is worried as a result, but David later calls her — and informs her that Josh has been stabbed, before asking her to urgently get him a lawyer.

David denies any involvement in the attack, and later swears to Shona that he had no part in it. However, matters are made complicated when Max shows Shona a video of the prison riot and, during said video, Josh can be seen collapsing from a stab wound — with David nearby.

Is David responsible for the attack on Josh?

What’s more, will Josh die as a result of his injuries?

Coronation Street spoilers: Wedding day drama as Michelle Connor seeks revenge on cheating Robert Preston

Michelle Connor Corrie wedding

There are set to be some dramatic scenes ahead in Coronation Street, as Michelle Connor’s (Kym Marsh) wedding day arrives. Of course, with her already having discovered the truth about cheating fiancé Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill), the question is: will the pair make it down the aisle?

Viewers have seen Michelle planning her big day, but — unbeknown to her — Robert is also secretly engaged to Vicky (Kerri Quinn). After an upcoming road-side accident leaves Robert fighting for his life, the truth about his secret double life is put at risk, as both Michelle and Vicky rush to be at their lover’s bedside.

Coronation Street has already confirmed that Michelle will discover the truth about her fiance’s double-life, and thus she’ll set out — with Carla (Alison King) by her side — to try and figure out what’s going on. It doesn’t take her long to do so, as she spots Robert publicly arguing with Vicky.

What happens after Michelle’s discovery remains to be seen, but it seems as if she’s set to go through with her plans to marry Robert — or, at the very least, get him up the aisle.

Actress Kym has been spotted filming in a wedding dress on-location, but the question is: is Michelle simply determined to get her happy ending with Robert? Or will she seek revenge on her cheating fiancé for all that he’s put her through?

In typical Corrie fashion, it’s set to be a big event, as several cobbles regulars including Carla and Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) will all be present on the big day.

Kym Marsh is pictured in wedding dress for some of her final scenes in Coronation Street. Kym invited boyfriend Scott Ratcliffe on location to watch her film. Scott a Major in the Paras is soon to leave for duty in the Middle East. PIC BY MARK CAMPBELL/MCPIX 07778 526193 Normal Fees

Weatherfield weddings have something of a habit for ending in disaster so — regardless of the outcome — there’s no doubt going to be incredibly dramatic scenes in store for viewers

The wedding scenes were filmed on location in Manchester and will be broadcast in December.

Kym recently took to Twitter to reveal how she’d received her final Corrie scripts, and — considering fellow actors Jennie McApline and Sally Ann Matthews have previewed the Christmas episodes after receiving their latest scripts, it’s likely that Michelle is set to depart around Christmas time.

If so, then this could suggest that the events of her wedding play an instrumental part in her decision to leave the cobbles.

Robert gets bad news in Emmerdale
(Picture: ITV)

Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) has been under a lot of pressure lately in Emmerdale, what with him facing a stretch in prison for what he did to rapist Lee, but matters are set to become further complicated in tonight’s episode, as he learns that Lee has died as a result of his injuries, which prompts him and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) to come to a huge decision.

After Victoria was raped by Lee earlier this year, the police were unable to bring a case against him, so Robert set out to seek revenge on behalf of his sister.

He attempted to humiliate the rapist but, with Lee toying with him and constantly playing games, he found himself unable to hold back, and thus he lost control — hitting Lee on the back of the head with a shovel. As a result, he was charged with GBH with intent.

Robert’s been enjoying the time he’s got left as a free man with Aaron, but matters go from bad to worse in tonight’s episode, when Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) arrives at her brother’s house with devastating news. Lee has died as a result of his injuries, which, of course, means that Robert’s looking at being charged with murder.

Determined to help her family, Liv (Isobel Steele) suggests that Robert goes on the run — and that Aaron should go with him. After some deliberation, the pair agree to do so.

As they set about going on the run, however, the pair are hit by the reality of what it is that they’re about to do — and bidding farewell to their nearest and dearest with little time to do so will no doubt prove an incredibly difficult task.

Will Robert and Aaron successfully manage to get out of dodge?

Emmerdale continues on Tuesday 15th October at 7pm on ITV.

Emmerdale spoilers: Boss hints at Charity Dingle and Vanessa Woodfield wedding

(Picture: ITV)

It’s been a while since we were fed any morsels of Vanity goodness but Emmerdale boss Kate Brooks has insisted that we will eventually see a wedding for the ever popular couple – although the soap is in no rush to push it through, instead opting to let things develop organically and slowly.

At the moment, things have been a little too hectic with the tragic death of Vanessa’s (Michelle Hardwick) dad Frank and also the fact that they have responsibility for Sarah, Noah, Moses and Johnny under one roof. On top of that, Charity (Emma Atkins) is set to have some Dingle matters to deal with in upcoming weeks with Aaron (Danny Miller) going off the rails, Cain (Jeff Hordley) discovering the affair of Moira (Natalie J Robb) and Mandy (Lisa Riley) causing more headaches.

On top of that, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) will soon go into labour and welcome a baby into the world – so there is a lot going on. With fans hailing Vanity as a partnership with deep emotion and feeling, allowing huge development for both characters since that fateful kiss in the cellar, it’s refreshing that the show plans to take its time and not rush through the milestones.

Speaking to Inside Soap, Kate teased: It is something that will eventually happen in time, but it’s not on the cards immediately. In real life, people stay engaged for two or three years, although I’m not saying we’ll have to wait that long!

‘Currently we have a nice dynamic with the two of them living together with Moses, Johnny, Noah, and Sarah, and it’s about the problems that people face day to day. They have two teenagers in the house that aren’t going to be easy, and it’s about how they test Charity and Vanessa’s relationship.’

As it is soap, tests are inevitable but if a wedding is somewhere on the horizon, it sounds like a long term future is still very much the plan for Vanity – and good things come to those who wait!

Meanwhile, Emmerdale has other major plots kicking off between now and Christmas, with a spectacular explosion ending the affair of Moira and Nate and the aftermath of Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) exit playing out.

In real life, Kate and Michelle recently celebrated their wedding with friends and loved ones by throwing a joyful party.

Hollyoaks’ Jamie Lomas is teaming up with Emmerdale star Sammy Winward for a special charity short film.

Lead Belly is inspired by actual events, and centres around homeless ex-soldier Mark, who is haunted by memories of a brutal event from his time in Afghanistan, which causes those around him chaos as he attempts to battle his inner demons.

The project focuses on themes such as homelessness and our armed forces, as well as hard-hitting topics such as mental health issues in veterans. The film’s aim is to raise awareness for homeless veterans.

Written by Ian Armer and Amanda Webster, Lead Belly is directed by Sean Glynn — who has previously won a British Soap award.

Sammy and Jamie lead the cast, but they’re not the only soap stars to feature in the film, as Emmerdale’s Anthony Quinlan — who plays Pete Barton on the ITV soap — also makes an appearance, as does Jacob Roberts, who portrays Damon Kinsella on Hollyoaks.

In addition to this, Jamie Lomas and Kym Marsh’s daughter, Polly also features in the project.

Director Sean Glynn said: ‘This is a story that’s vital we tell. When I learned the statistics of how many veterans are living in the streets, dealing with mental health issues I was compelled to be a part of raising awareness for this cause.’

Filming on the project started this month in and around Manchester and Liverpool, and is set to wrap up on October 12th.

The filming is being crowdfunded and you can find more information here.

Emmerdale spoilers: Shock twist revealed as Vinny isn’t actually Mandy Dingle’s son

Mandy and Vinny in Emmerdale
(Picture: ITV)

Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) made a triumphant return to Emmerdale earlier this year with son Vinny (Bradley Johnson) in tow, and she’s wasted little time in getting her feet under the table. What’s more, her return has brought with it plenty of drama — not to mention having brought plenty of secrets to light too, the biggest of which has yet to be revealed on screen, as it seemingly turns out that Vinny isn’t actually Mandy’s son!

Earlier this year, Mandy made a brief return to the village with a mission, as she set out to prove that Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) was Paddy’s (Dominic Brunt) biological father. However, as she departed, Vinny questioned why she never revealed the real reason that she came home, thus confirming that she’s hiding something from her family.

Since making a more permanent return to the Dales a couple of months back, Mandy has done nothing but keep secrets from her clan, and it seems as if her and Vinny have been harbouring a pretty game-changing one, as Lisa Riley told The Sun that Vinny’s not actually Mandy’s son.

Speaking to The Sun, Lisa said: ‘Who is he? Even I’m yet to find that out – it’s all still to unfold.’

‘Who is his mother? That’s the big question – will it be a cast member, we just don’t know.’

The other big question, of course, is what Mandy’s motivations in lying about Vinny’s parentage could be?

Due to the uncanny resemblance, viewers were convinced that Vinny was Paddy’s son when he first showed up in the village. However, Mandy went out of her way to dispel that theory — but it’s likely that, whoever they are, Vinny’s parents could be of importance.

Emmerdale continues on Tuesday 15th October at 7pm on ITV.

Coronation Street will be back on screens very soon (Picture: ITV)

If you’re a fan of Coronation Street, no doubt you will have noticed its absence from the airwaves in recent days.

In fact the soap’s been missing from its usual slot since last Wednesday, as the normal schedules give way to sport.

We don’t have to wait much longer for its return though – so just when is it back?

Here’s what you need to know…

When is Coronation Street back on TV?

Here’s the good news folks – your regular dose of Corrie returns to the airwaves on Wednesday.

Expect heartbreak when the show returns as Sinead loses her cancer battle (Picture: ITV)

And that’s not all – as it’s coming back with a double bill of episodes tomorrow, with one at 7.30pm and one at 8.30pm.

There’s also an hour-long episode set to air this Friday at 7.30pm – while you’re also getting double bills next Monday (21 October) and Wednesday (23 October), and an extra episode next Thursday (24th) at 8.30pm as well as another hour-long episode on Friday 25th.

Expect heartbreak in Weatherfield after Sinead (Katie McGlynn) faces her final days with family and friends as she loses her cancer battle.

Why was Coronation Street off for a week?

Corrie has been absent from our screens in recent days to make way for England’s Euro 2020 qualifying matches.

Friday saw the show take a back seat as the team took on the Czech Republic in their bid to win a place in next year’s tournament, losing 2-1 to the Czech team.

Monday night saw Corrie getting the night off as England faced Bulgaria, winning 6-0 in a match which was marred by Bulgaria fans levelling racist abuse at the team, leading to the game being halted twice.

The live coverage also saw Emmerdale being shunted from the schedules – although that returns to screens tonight with a bumper hour-long episode from 7pm.

Are we about to see the last of Robron? (Picture: ITV/REX)

Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) is due to depart from Emmerdale this week as he flees from the law.

We know that vile Lee (Kris Mochrie) will have soon succumbed to the injuries inflicted on him by Robert.

This comes as a crushing blow to Robron, as Robert will find himself facing the prospect of spending a long time behind bars for the attack.

With Robert due to go on the run from the law, will Aaron (Danny Miller) be taking his leave of the dales for good?

Is Danny Miller leaving Emmerdale?

In upcoming scenes, Aaron will decide to leave Emmerdale with his husband.

However something will end up dividing the soulmates, and Aaron’s storyline could very well take a dark turn after he eventually ends up in Emmerdale without his love.

After Robert brutally attacked the evil Lee, his sister’s rapist, Lee ended up dying of his wounds.

Unable to face the prospect of going to prison, Robert will decide to go on the run and Aaron will opt to be by his side.

However, when they set their affairs in order and prepare to flee, the couple are hit by the gravity of what they’re about to do, and bidding goodbye to their loved ones will no-doubt prove a painful task.

We’ve known for months that actor Ryan Hawley, who’s played Robert Sugden since 2014, was due to depart from the soap this year.

On the subject of his character’s upcoming exit, Ryan said: ‘The news has just been broken to them so they haven’t really got a plan, they are going to have to take it as it comes. It means some very emotional goodbyes to some people in the village, but they have to be quick and there are some people they don’t even get the chance to because there just isn’t time.

‘The police are literally on their way so they have to be fast and quickly make it out of the village. They really believe they are going to stay on the run and make it work. There were very emotional goodbyes with a real sense of urgency.’

On being a part of the Emmerdale cast, he said: ‘I will miss the show massively, it has been a huge part of my life for the last few years. I love working here, I love the people that I work with and it’s going to be very emotional leaving.’

Rainie’s had a difficult time lately (Picture: BBC)

Rainie Branning (Tanya Franks) has been having a troubled time in EastEnders lately.

Recent episodes of the show have seen the recovering addict struggle to wean off painkillers – with Stuart (Ricky Champ)’s attempts to help her going very wrong indeed.

And her determination to remain in baby Abi’s life hasn’t helped matters either, with the storyline set to come to a head in a way which leaves Stuart devastated.

But could this mean we’re about to bid farewell to Rainie?

Here’s what you need to know…

Is Rainie Branning leaving EastEnders for good?

As it stands there is no confirmation that Rainie is leaving Albert Square – meaning that we’ll just have to keep watching to see whether the character sticks around or does exit Walford.

However the past few weeks have been pretty challenging for the character.

She might be determined to remain in baby Abi’s life, but her drug addiction has resulted in Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) and Max Branning (Jake Wood) making attempts to prevent her from doing so.

Things got even worse last week when a trial shift in the cafe didn’t go as planned, and Kathy found Rainie on the floor of her flat with a bottle of vodka in her hand.

This led to Stuart confronting Kathy and accusing her of putting Rainie’s recovery at risk by snooping – and threatened to stop her from seeing Abi if she didn’t back off.

Kathy refused to be intimidated by this though, and tried to test Rainie by putting her in the position of having to make a choice between drugs and Abi.

Tuesday night will see Stuart blackmailing Kathy, threatening to tell everyone what she did if she doesn’t agree to let Rainie see the toddler – with her later talking Kathy into letting her take her to the park.

While Stuart still has doubts about Rainie’s behaviour, Bex (Jasmine Armfield) ends up giving him some sound advice – but he’s left devastated when he later tries to track Rainie down.

What happens? You’ll have to tune in and see.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays on BBC One at 8pm and on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm.
