Mackenzie is new to Summer Bay
Colby and Mackenzie have been flirting since her arrival in the Bay (Picture: Channel 5)

Colby (Tim Franklin) and Mackenzie (Emily Weir) have had a flirty vibe since Mac showed up in Summer Bay – so much so that Willow (Sarah Roberts) has asked Colby about whether he’s considered moving on from Chelsea (Ashleigh Brewer), and Bella has been reluctant to move back home for fear of getting in the way of a romance. However, Colby has made it clear that his only chance at happiness was with Chelsea, and he doesn’t see Mac in that way.

At Salt one evening, after an intense discussion with Dean (Patrick O’Connor), Mackenzie opens up to Colby about how she felt she was never good enough to be part of Rick’s real life. She’s upset that he abandoned her and her mother for his new family, and angry that he’s painting an image of himself as the perfect family man in the press.

The pair bond as they agree that families can do your head in, then Colby leans in to kiss her. While they’re both into it, Mac eventually pulls away, saying that even though she liked it, she can’t stay as long as he’s wearing a wedding ring.

Colby is left with food for thought, as even though he is technically still married to Chelsea, she’s never going to come back after learning what he did to Ross. Is he ready to move on with Mackenzie? But when Willow learns about the kiss, she’s appalled – he can’t make a move on his best friend’s sister!

When she learns that Colby forgot he was wearing his wedding ring – and that he was even married – Willow suggests that this means he’s ready for the next chapter of his romantic life. Although he refuses to accept it at first, he eventually realises that holding onto his relationship with Chelsea is only holding him back.

While out surfing, Colby pauses and looks out at the ocean before taking his ring off and flinging it away into the water. Then he rings Mackenzie to ask if she’d be up for a drink…

Ross Kemp has revealed plans to film a documentary about Alzheimer’s, following Barbara Windsor being diagnosed with the degenerative brain disease.

The former Eastenders actor – who is also famous for his hard-hitting documentaries – revealed that the topic is something he would love to focus on, especially since it now affects his on-screen mother.

Barbara played Eastenders’ legendary barmaid, Peggy Mitchell, mother of Ross’s character Grant Mitchell.

Ross told The Mirror: ‘I’d like to do a show on Alzheimer’s. Living With… could be anything, cancer, mental illness, Boris Johnson.’

Barbara was diagnosed with the condition, a progressive form of dementia, in 2014 and has rarely made public appearances since the news was revealed.

Ross and Barbara have remained close following their years of working together on the BBC1 soap, and he keeps up with how she is getting on through her husband Scott Mitchell.

He said: ‘I spoke to Scott last week. She has good days and days that aren’t so good. She’s affected by light, so when it gets dark it gets difficult.

‘She’s Barbara Windsor and we love her. I’m going to drop by next week.’

He revealed earlier in the year that despite her Alzheimer’s, Barbara still recognises who he is.

While Ross Kemp Living With Alzheimer’s has yet to be confirmed, his latest four-part series of documentaries will be coming to ITV later this month.

They will focus on homelessness, young carers, knife crime and online gambling, with the first episode shining a spotlight on homelessness and rough sleeping.

Ross Kemp Living With Homelessness will air 25 July at 7.30pm on ITV.

Gary Lucy is making a surprise return to Hollyoaks this summer, as his character Luke Morgan is released from prison.

He was jailed for attacking Scott Drinkwell, who he believed had been abusing his son, Ollie.

But how will he settle back into life in Chester with all the changes over the past few months?

In true Hollyoaks form, nothing is ever simple as Luke returns to find wife Mandy (Sarah Jayne Dunn) now shacked up with Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) – who just happens to be his best friend.

Not only are they living together, the pair share son DJ and things finally appear to be going well, after the little one faced health issues.

Ollie is the only one who knows the truth about DJ’s paternity, and that he is actually Luke’s son. But with his dad back on the scene, will he be able to keep up with his lies?

Or will he come clean and drop a huge bombshell on them all?

It’s not all bad for Luke, as he potentially finds a new love interest on the scene – Mandy’s younger sister, Cindy.

Which will undeniably make things a lot more complicated at family functions…

Despite knowing each other for years, Luke’s reappearance could stir something in Cindy, with love possibly in the air.

Discussing the upcoming scenes, Hollyoaks’ Bryan Kirkwood said: ‘There are secrets that will be dug up in the weeks after Luke’s return. And then there’s Cindy who might well set her sights on Luke.

‘They’ve been in each other’s orbit for more than 20 years but haven’t ever really spent much time together.

‘Luke sees her as Mandy’s annoying little step-sister and Cindy’s got a pretty low opinion of him. But we think Cindy and Luke might be one to watch.’

Hollyoaks airs weeknights 6.30pm on Channel 4, with the First Look straight after on E4, at 7pm.

The smiley stylist will soon get the news that her dad is dead and it will shatter her life both with grief and a massive secret that has been held back from her for some time. But as Steve struggles over what is the right thing to do, it turns out to be down to Tracy (Kate Ford) and Amy (Elle Mulvaney) to chase Emma down on the platform and try to persuade her to stay so they can all work things out.

Jai gets a huge shock in Emmerdale
(Picture: ITV)

Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) is about to make the colossal mistake of becoming involved with Kim Tate (Claire King) in Emmerdale – but will their risky business arrangement lead to more? Let’s face it, seductive Kim has form – could she be on a mission to destroy Laurel Thomas’ (Charlotte Bellamy) heart?

Jai and Laurel have been enjoying their secret but loving new relationship which has blossomed of late but there are troubled times ahead for Jai when he learns that Rishi (Bhasker Patel) has signed a contract with Kim in order to save the struggling factory. In a shock twist of fate, the factory ends up getting destroyed thanks to a big calamity of errors caused by Amy and Kerry Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson and Laura Norton).

With the business in ruins, Jai will be forced to turn to Kim – and she will propose that he helps her with her mission to open a huge outdoor adventure park in the village. But as producer Kate Brooks has warned Jai could have his fingers burned by climbing into bed with the devil, just how literally does she mean this?

She told Metro.co.uk: ‘Kim strikes up a business partnership with Jai after the fire. Getting in bed with Kim Tate is like getting in bed with the Devil herself so it won’t be plain sailing for him. They are planning a new outdoor pursuit centre at the heart of the village – there will be kayaks, segways, a nice little eatery and will look fantastic and rejuvinate the village. It will bring new characters into the village and they can all have fun in the treetops and zipwires.’

But how much does Kim want from Jai? Considering she tried to seduce Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Pete Barton (Anthony Quinlan) just out of pure spite, we reckon Jai had better watch himself…

Neighbours spoilers: Elly’s sex dream means romance with Chloe?

Elly has a naughty dream about Chloe. What does it mean?
(Picture: Channel 5)

Chelly fans have long since been hoping something might happen between Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly) and Elly Conway (Jodi Anasta), and while it looked like hope had faded, something is about to reignite that flame in Neighbours.

And that something is a sensual massage that gets Elly all hot and bothered when she starts to fantasise. Blimey.

As Chloe tries to figure out the Pierce (Tim Robards) situation, Aaron (Matthew Wilson) notices how she and Elly are starting to reconcile, laughing and joking together like old times. He’s pleased to see they’re back on good terms, but he might not be so pleased when he realises where it’s leading.

Chloe and Elly spend some time bonding and decide to get massages together, but Elly becomes so relaxed she finds herself dozing off, and as she does she has a very vivid, very steamy sex dream about Chloe. She’s left confused, does this mean she has feelings for her?

A big fat hell yeah it does.

Elly can't help herself.
(Picture: Channel 5)

She’s disturbed by her dream and calls an end to their catch up leaving Chloe confused and a little hurt. She confides in Mark (Scott McGregor) that it must mean it’s too soon for them to be friends. Mark speaks to Elly to encourage her not to give up on his sister, but he’s horrified when she confesses the truth. He hadn’t wanted them to reconnect quite that much.

Chloe later finds herself turning Pierce down when he invites her for a drink. Are her feelings stirring too?

Chloe learns about the dream and decides she needs to know more, so she invites Elly out for lunch. Aaron is worried as it all seems very date like, and all he can see is Chloe getting hurt again. He confronts her and she admits the door was never closed on #Chelly and she needs to know whether there’s anything there.

But she might have wished she hadn’t as Elly later admits to Chloe she isn’t ready to date anyone. She’s too focused on getting her life back on track and becoming a mum. She still wants to be mates though (that old chestnut). Is this finally the end for these two, or is Elly fighting a losing battle with her heart?

Scenes air from Monday 29th July at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.

Coronation Street spoilers: Gary Windass kills again as his next victim is revealed?

Gary attacks Ryan in Coronation Street
(Picture: Mark Campbell/MCPIX)

Being a Coronation Street killer is certainly a slippery slope as Gary Windass (Mikey North) is about to find out. His first death was a pure accident of circumstance, his second incident was self defence but his third looks set to be outright murder if he goes all the way when he attacks a shocked Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) this summer.

Having taken over Rick Neelan’s loan shark business since killing him and burying him in the woods, Gary has started to give in to the dark nature of his personality as he is wrapped into that world – which could mean bad news for Michelle’s (Kym Marsh) son as he too gets involved in Gary’s circle of violence.

And when Ryan ends up double crossing Gary, scenes will see him take a vicious beating – but how far will Gary go as Ryan is left battered, bruised and bleeding? Is Michelle about to lose another child, triggering her upcoming exit from the show?

The latest Coronation Street storyline is so violent that actor Ryan Prescott had to wear body armour for fight scenes with Mikey North. Gary Windass, played by Mikey is pictured attacking Ryan Connor, played Ryan, and leaving him for dead. PIC BY MARK CAMPBELL/ 07778 526193
(Picture: Mark Campbell/MCPIX)

Mikey and Ryan have been filming scenes on location that were so rough that Ryan had to don body armour to stop him from incurring an injury as a fight director oversaw scenes which involve him being thrown around viciously on concrete. After the scenes were finished filming, Mikey and Ryan laughed together and shared a hug.

But on screen, it looks like there will be no love lost again as Ryan could very well be Gary’s next victim.

Mikey recently told Metro.co.uk: ‘He is getting deeper and deeper into things as we’re going to see over the next few weeks, to a point of no return really. I suppose there is a point of return, but like I say, he’s becoming more calculated and scheming as it were and desperate, I suppose.

‘Things are going to take a big turn in a few weeks, so he’s got some big decisions to make in the next six months and that will probably decide which path he goes down. I know there are things planned well into next year.’

Fans can expect to see these scenes air at the end of summer.

Hollyoaks spoilers: Breda McQueen kills a shocking victim

Hollyoaks' Breda McQueen (Moya Brady)
(Picture: Lime Pictures)

Breda McQueen (Moya Brody) will kill again this week in Hollyoaks’ biggest twist so far this year – and no-one in the village is safe. At the start of the week, Breda is eyeing up Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) as her next victim as he has seemingly turned his back on Harry Thompson (Parry Glasspool), who is preparing to go on the run.

As she last week ominously warned him that his cup of coffee could be his last, Breda has murder in mind once more and will claim her eighth and ninth victims this summer. And while she has been calculating in her selection of her dispatches so far, she will make some colossal mistakes as her psyche and the power she wields begins to unravel.

Bryan Kirkwood previously told Metro.co.uk that in the ‘summer of Breda’, two of the show’s biggest twists of the year would be connected to the serial killer, adding that no-one is safe in the village. And he quite means it!

With Breda having recently targeted both Tony and Mercedes as potential victims, there are other candidates in the village who could meet her bad dad criteria such as James, Harry, Liam and even the likes of Warren Fox – who is currently (while off screen) involved in the storyline of Sienna and her kidnapped twins.

We can’t reveal who it is that Breda kills this week but we can concur with show boss Bryan that the scenes will cause your jaws to drop – and will have a huge impact on the show for months to come. But just as we get our breath back from the events of this week, Breda will claim ANOTHER victim in the final week of Six Weeks Of Summer.

As her kill count threatens to get into double figures, will bloodthirsty Breda ever be caught?

Or is every parent in the village set to meet a sticky end?

Hollyoaks spoilers: Harry Thompson makes a shocking discovery tonight

Harry in Hollyoaks
(Picture: Lime Pictures)

Harry Thompson’s (Parry Glasspool) life has imploded recently in Hollyoaks – and it’s all because of a crime he has been blamed for but had no involvement whatsoever in. With Liam Donovan (Jude Monk McGowan) determined for Harry to take the fall for the crash which nearly killed Grace Black (Tamara Wall), Harry is distraught as he is running out of options and realises he has to leave the village to clear his name.

His dad Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) has turned his back on him and his relationship with jealous James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) appears to be over after Harry rediscovered feelings for Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) and was then drugged by his jealous partner.

With all of this going against him and the police case building against him, Harry decides he has to go on the run to save himself – but the one thing holding him back is the fact that he has become a new dad and doesn’t want to leave the newborn behind, especially after connecting with his child.

Thankfully for Harry, he soon discovers a glimmer of hope when he overs Liam and Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) discussing the truth about the crash – and records the conversation.

Parry told Metro.co.uk: ‘He’s got the ammo – he has been very savvy and recorded the conversation between Liam and Mercedes. He thinks this will save everything and stop him being arrested. It’s never simple with Hazza though – if you watch this show long enough, you should expect twists and turns!’

But if he does clear his name, could there be a chance of reunion for Harry and James? Parry was on the fence over this one but insisted that anything is possible.

He mused: ‘They’ve been through a lot, I won’t lie. Can you go back from James drugging him twice? I think people in soap have come through stuff like that so it’s a possibility. But also, Harry has been warming again to Ste – whether he was just caught in the moment, we don’t know. Will he forgive James? It’s hard to tell really!

‘If they split, the Jarry fans won’t be happy but the Starry fans will be delighted I’m sure! It has to be for a good reason – if they split and it just happens, then they won’t be happy with that as it won’t make sense. I think it’s understandable what happens but fans might be annoyed that it’s come to this.’

Hollyoaks continues on Monday 22nd July at 7pm on E4.

Charlie Brooks would return to EastEnders as Janine Butcher but ‘fears’ one major thing

Charlie Brooks admits she would love to return to EastEnders as Janine Butcher but there’s one major ‘fear’ holding her back.

The 38-year-old actress became the nation’s favourite character they loved to hate as the ruthless – and murderous – Janine.

It’s been five long years since Charlie was last on our screens as the fierce businesswoman and there’s definitely a possibility she could return to Walford to no doubt cause more havoc on Albert Square.

Speaking to the Loose Women panel on Monday, Charlie said after watching a VT of Janine’s best moments: ‘I feel like it’s been a long time in and out so watching that back has been hilarious.’

The actress then said of her comeback: ‘I could potentially – I always say the same answer, never say never. She’s in France swanning it up with Scarlett.’

However, Charlie says there’s one thing stopping her from hopping in a black taxi and heading back to the square.

‘You feel like you can breathe slightly and that would be my biggest fear going back into it,’ Charlie explained.

Never say never (Picture: BBC, Getty)

She continued: ‘It kind of turns your life around slightly, which is brilliant in some aspects.

‘I love the show and I love Janine and I’m always intrigued to figure out where she’s been and what she’s been up to because she was so fun. But it does get a lot. You are in a fishbowl and it can be a lot.’

Life after EastEnders hasn’t been so bad though as Charlie said: ‘It’s been great, I have been doing a lot of theatre.’

The actress has also been raising her 14-year-old daughter Kiki and admits it’s a challenge raising a teen, stating: ‘Blimey, it’s hard work sometimes.’

She then admitted: ‘We had a teary moment this morning and it can be very tough and feel lonely.’

Loose Women continues weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.

Who is Hollyoaks’ Parry Glasspool and where have you seen the Harry Thompson actor before?

Parry Glasspool as Harry Thompson in Hollyoaks
Harry’s had a rough time of it lately (Picture: Lime Pictures)

Hollyoaks’ Harry Thompson has been facing some big dilemmas of late, with the new dad running out of options when it comes to solving his problems.

Not only is his relationship with James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) looking distinctly rocky, but he’s potentially facing jail for a crime he didn’t commit – after his vehicle was used in the hit-and-run which left Grace Black (Tamara Wall) fighting for her life.

The arrival of Sadie (Alexa Lee) caused further problems for the couple, as she revealed that she was pregnant with Harry’s child.

All of which has left him considering what to do next – and fleeing the village looks to be a possibility – but that proves not to be so easy either.

We certainly know plenty about Harry – but what about Parry Glasspool, the actor who plays him?

Here’s what you need to know…

How old is Parry Glasspool and what else has he been in?

Parry, who is 27, was born on 5 March 1992 in Hollywood, Worcestershire.

He studied acting at Kingston College, and landed his role in Hollyoaks almost straight after graduating, finding himself on set filming scenes for Hollyoaks Later within a week of ending his course.

Jarry have had a troubled relationship (Picture: Lime Pictures)

His first episode in the actual series aired on 9 February 2015 on E4, and on Channel 4 the following day.

He went on to be nominated for best newcomer at the National Television Awards in 2016.

Parry’s other credits include two short films, How To Be Sexy and Cicada, as well as the BBC One series Our Zoo.

Who is his Hollyoaks character Harry Thompson?

Harry is the son of Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) and Tessie Thompson (Sian Gibson) – with Tessie keeping the fact that Harry is Tony’s son from him for eight years.

During his time on the series he’s been romantically involved with Ste (Kieron Richardson), but that relationship ended after Harry became involved with James.

However, Jarry has been under threat of late both from Harry’s potentially looming prison sentence and James’ concerns over Ste, even leading to him drugging Harry on account of his paranoia over his former flame.

Parry recently told metro.co.uk: ‘They’ve been through a lot, I won’t lie. Can you go back from James drugging him twice? I think people in soap have come through stuff like that so it’s a possibility. But also, Harry has been warming again to Ste – whether he was just caught in the moment, we don’t know. It has to be for a good reason – if they split and it just happens, then they won’t be happy with that as it won’t make sense. I think it’s understandable what happens but fans might be annoyed that it’s come to this.’

Hollyoaks airs weeknights on Channel 4 at 6.30pm, with new episodes weeknights on E4 at 7pm.

What is Paula hiding in Coronation Street as Jan link is exposed?

Stirling Gallacher as Paula Martin in Coronation Street
What secret is Paula Martin hiding? (Picture: ITV)

It’s no secret that Coronation Street solicitor Paula Martin (Stirling Gallacher) is hiding some dark secrets which are about to come to light.

The character has been linked to the child trafficking storyline involving Jan Losinski (Piotr Baumann) whom she clearly knows in some capacity – and forthcoming events could even pose a threat to her relationship with Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent).

With things only set to get more dangerous for Paula, just what is she hiding – and what’s her link to Jan?

Here’s what we know so far…

What is Paula hiding in Coronation Street?

Paula has been acting shifty again in recent episodes and it’s becoming increasingly clear that she is hiding something.

We do know that she knows Jan in some capacity, with Eileen Grimshaw having recently noticed that there was a knowing glance between the lawyer and Jan as they pass in the Street.

When Eileen later asked Paula about it, she was flustered and denied knowing him, telling Eileen she must have imagined what she saw.

However Eileen went on to confide her suspicions in Liz McDonald (Beverly Callard) who discovered Jan’s criminal past after Googling his name.

What’s Paula’s link to Jan?

It’s not yet clear whether Paula is involved in child trafficking with Jan or whether she has some other link to him but it’s clear the pair know each other.

With Jan having been involved in child trafficking, suspicions about Paula’s involvement have already been raised – but it ramps up a notch this week when intruders break into the Webster household and start rifling through her paperwork, leaving Sophie’s son Jack in danger.

Stirling told metro.co.uk: ‘Does she feel guilty about what happens and how Jack was put in real danger? Yes of course! She’s mortified. To put a small child at risk like that is awful. I don’t think Paula would have made a conscious choice to endanger Sophie or her family in her own interests but fear can skew a persons judgement and Paula is way more scared than she is letting on.

‘She is dealing with some nasty folk and she has found herself in a very dangerous situation, just by doing her job. She is very scared by what is happening and is out of her depth.’

Coronation Street airs weeknights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm.

Hollyoaks has stunned fans by killing off one of its biggest characters with very little warning. Harry Thompson (Parry Glasspool), the son of longest running character Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) and one half of two of the shows biggest ‘ships’ Jarry and Starry is dead after being murdered by serial killer Breda McQueen (Moya Brady).

With guilty James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) determined to get Harry off of the false charges against him and desperate to make amends for the lengths his jealousy drove him too, he was too late to make amends – as was Tony. Tony had called Harry to apologise and reaffirm his love for his son following their fallout.

Harry was delighted to get the message and, determined to get justice after recording the truth about the crash from a conversation between Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) and Liam Donovan (Jude Monk McGowan), he could finally see some hope. But Breda, whose most up to date information on Harry was his plan to flee, thus abandoning his newborn child, emerged from nowhere and stabbed him.

A horrified Harry dropped to the ground and swore he was going to make things right but Breda coldly snarled that deadbeat dads always meet a sticky end. And meet a sticky end he did, with the jaws of Hollyoaks fans on the floor with shock.

Speaking about leaving the show, Parry exlusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I’ve been so lucky. I have always felt lucky to be partnered with Nick, Kieron and Greg. My ability at the start really didn’t line up with the A-grade storylines I was being given but I appreciate being given them. I feel like I have been improved. I have really enjoyed my time here and I have learned a lot as an actor and also off screen – there have been a few mistakes made there. It’s been a huge learning curve and I wish the best for the show; I have had a really good time.’

But what about the inevitable fan reaction?

Parry laughed: ‘There’s going to be hell to pay – riots in the street, it’s a brave decisionI I am really hoping it’s a surprise. Tony is a red herring and then everyone thinks Harry is going to get out of the trouble with the crash and then BAM. Hopefully, if no one leaks any spoilers, it will be a huge surprise.

‘It’s really good – the last few weeks have been so intense. His lies have brought him here – it’s not really his fault but at the same time it is. I really enjoyed my last few blocks – and now I’m planning to enjoy the rest of my career!’

(Picture Lime Pictures)

A few months ago, when James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) and Harry Thompson (Parry Glasspool) reunited, we couldn’t imagine Hollyoaks without Jarry but tonight, the soap powers that be yanked that rug right out from underneath us all by leaving Harry dead at the hands of killer grandma Breda McQueen (Moya Brady) – and we can’t quite cope!

Harry has been central to a huge number of storylines over the years since being introduced as Tony Hutchinson’s (Nick Pickard) son. He confessed to the murder of Amy Barnes, he was left homeless, he was caught up in the huge storm drama, he was part of late night specials and he has been in the middle of two of the soap’s most talked about ships – Jarry (James and Harry) and Starry (Ste and Harry).

But now, the legacy character is no more – and Parry is thrilled with his exit storyline and admits that he still feels lucky to have ever been cast in Hollyoaks in the first place.

In an exclusive and candid chat with Metro.co.uk, he said: ‘I’ve been so lucky. It’s been a huge learning curve and I wish the best for the show; I have had a really good time.

‘The exit is really good – the last few weeks have been so intense. His lies have brought him here – it’s not really his fault but at the same time it is. I really enjoyed my last few blocks – and now I’m planning to enjoy the rest of my career! Everyone thinks Harry is alive. Tony now knows Harry is innocent but the last time they met is when he threw him out for like the third time. Their relationship didn’t end well so he will be gutted.

‘James will regret his actions – he has seen the light a little bit. I think Ste also has a lot on his own plate at the moment and has been falling for Harry. If he doesn’t think Harry is dead he will be able to move on with his own dramas – but when they all find out, I am sure they will be gutted.’

Not quite as gutted as the fans – most who didn’t see this outcome coming. And Parry is prepared to see a bit of a backlash.

He smiled: ‘There’s going to be hell to pay – riots in the street, it’s a brave decision. I am really hoping it’s a surprise. Tony is a red herring and then everyone thinks Harry is going to get out of the trouble with the crash and then BAM. Hopefully, if no one leaks any spoilers, it will be a huge surprise!’

But what now for the popular star? Parry is hoping for something a bit lighter than a soap schedule for a while.

He mused: ‘Theatre would be nice – but I need to think about financially too. I would love to explore comedy a bit more. Something more light hearted before I go back into heavy dramas. There’s some great Netflix stuff right now, I’d love to be involved in all that. I feel like in doing another soap, you can’t pick and choose, I wouldn’t go into another soap straight away – I have a great allegience to Hollyoaks. I don’t want to burn any bridges so never say never but not at the minute.’

Hollyoaks spoilers: Gregory Finnegan reveals James Nightingale’s torment after Harry Thompson’s death

Breda kills Harry in Hollyoaks

James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) is set to head down a darker road than ever in Hollyoaks and could be capable of anything – even a killer revenge – if he were to discover that Harry Thompson (Parry Glasspool) is dead and Breda McQueen (Moya Brody) is to blame.

Fans of James and Harry, better known as power couple Jarry, were left in shock as Breda ambushed Harry and stabbed him to death, believing that he was walking out on his newborn baby. Meanwhile, after his recent appalling behaviour, James was on a mission to clear Harry’s name but it was too little too late.

Initially, James will believe that Harry has gone on the run and that it was his fault. But were he to ever discover the shocking truth – as he is bound to – how would he react?

Gregory exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I think this mark a notable change in James. He has always been reluctant to get involved fully in getting his hands dirty – but if he were to find out, I think he might be liable to do anything. He stews for a bit, things get increasingly darker for him. Things will start spiralling from there. I really enjoy all of the facets of the character – I get to play and explore lots of different things. I enjoy both the darker stuff but once the darkness is over I hope that James might have a bit more fun.’

That seems a way off yet, though as Gregory admitted that there would be a lot of self blame to come for James as he loses Harry from his life.

He explained: ‘He feels a definite responsibility. He’s not entirely sure how to deal with it. The paranoia got the better of him – with Harry not being around anymore, it’s hard for him to make amends. I really do think James does love Harry but I can appreciate he had a funny way of showing it. I do think James’ love was genuine and he will feel the loss of Harry very deeply.’

As will the fans. Gregory went on: ‘I’m sure they will be up in arms! They love the partnership and I think mainly they loved Harry. I think it’s going to be a bit of a blow – I don’t know what to say, really; they will react with shock and sadness. But as things play out over the next few months, hopefully they will understand.

‘Parry is held with great regard personally and professionally in the show so it was a bit of a shock. But once we talked about it, we looked forward to filming the scenes – it creates a lot of possibilities for various characters and we understood the way they wanted to go. Parry is going to be a great loss though. We had a great working relationship, we got on so well and had a great rapport. Perhaps it won’t be the last time together and we will keep in touch, we never know what the future holds.’

For Hollyoaks, with a 25th anniversary on the horizon, some major returns and another shock death courtesy of barmy Breda, it seems that the future holds more twists and turns.

Greg smiled: ‘To be around now is great. The aftermath of the Soap Awards has been fantastic and everyone connected with the show was delighted with that win. Channel 4 have been really supportive of the show so it’s a very positive time for us; a good time to be here.’

As Harry Thompson dies in Hollyoaks, 9 soap deaths which viewers never saw coming

Death in Coronation Street
(Picture: ITV/Metro,co,uk)

Hollyoaks viewers were left in shock following tonight’s E4 episode, as fan-favourite character Harry Thompson (Parry Glasspool) met his demise at the hands of the villainous Breda McQueen (Moya Brady). Whilst the death in itself is a hard enough pill for viewers to swallow — especially given just how much they adored the cheeky chap — it’s the fact that Harry’s death — and Parry’s departure — had been kept under wraps that makes this one so unexpected.

Yes, it’s safe to say that Harry’s death has left us all in a state of shock. Mind you, you’d think we’d be used to it by now, given that deaths are as common an occurrence in soaps as family fallouts, steamy affairs and sausage surprises.

The young lad’s demise is far from the the first unpredictable death to have occurred in soapland — or even in Hollyoaks, for that matter.

Speaking of soapland’s unpredictable deaths, let’s have a butchers at a few of the biggest and best from years gone by. Much like the Hollyoaks fave, these deadly departures well and truly left our jaws on the floor.

Danielle Jones (EastEnders)

When it was revealed that Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) had given birth to a secret daughter in the years prior to her arrival in Albert Square, it was only a matter of time before the child showed up. However, viewers were genuinely shocked when Walford resident Danielle Jones (Lauren Crace) — Stacey’s (Lacey Turner) bestie who was initially introduced as a love interest for Callum Monks (Elliot Jordan) — turned out to be the daughter in question.

Mere moments after Ronnie learned the truth, she shared a tearful look with Danielle and, as the two women prepared to embrace — for the first time as mother and daughter — disaster struck, as Danielle collided with Janine’s (Charlie Brooks) car. An incredibly powerful — and somewhat Shakespearean — end to one of soap’s greatest ever storylines.

Undoubtedly one of EastEnders’ most genuinely shocking moments, Danielle’s death was instrumental in cementing Ronnie as one of soap’s most tragic characters.

Holly Barton (Emmerdale)

Emmerdale has been home to quite a few shocking deaths over the years, and none were more upsetting than that of Holly Barton (Sophie Powles), who died in her sleep following a drug overdose back in 2016.

Although rumours had begun circulating that Sophie was departing from Emmerdale, nothing had been confirmed and — prior to its airing, nothing indicated that anything as significant as a central character’s death would occur in this particular episode.

The scene in which Moira (Natalie J Robb) discovered her daughter’s lifeless body really hit home for viewers, and it will no doubt be etched into our minds for years to come.

Lynsey Nolan (Hollyoaks)

Lynsey Nolan’s (Karen Hassan) demise is quite possibly the most shocking to have ever occurred in a soap. Prior to her on-screen death, viewers had no reason to believe that Lynsey would be killed — and Karen hadn’t made any announcement about leaving the show.

What made it all the more shocking was the circumstances in which the character was killed, considering the death itself never actually happened on-screen, as Brendan Brady (Emmet J. Scanlan) simply discovered her dead body on the sofa.

What’s more, due to Lynsey having clashed with several characters in the build-up to her death, a compelling whodunit storyline ensued — none of which had been revealed beforehand.

Tess Harris (Emmerdale)

Tess Harris wasn’t in Emmerdale for all that long, but her steamy affair with Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) was far from forgettable. The character met her demise in shocking scenes back in 2016, when — after arranging to meet Rhona (Zoe Henry) to spill the beans about her affair with the Emmerdale vet — she was run down by Kirin Kotecha (Adam Fielding), who had been drink driving.

In typical Emmerdale fashion, it was something that viewers never saw coming. What’s more, it was the catalyst in bringing Tess’ villainous husband Pierce (Jonathan Wrather) to the village.

Maxine Peacock (Coronation Street)

Richard Hillman’s (Brain Capron) reign of terror in Coronation Street claimed quite a few of the cobble’s finest, but it was the horrifying death of hairdresser Maxine Peacock (Tracy Shaw) that left viewers on the edge of their seats.

Whilst it was known that Richard would claim another life in the build up the episode, viewers were unaware of which resident would fall victim to his iconic crowbar, and the graphic scenes in which Maxine was killed off was watched a whopping 15.6 million viewers.

Maxine’s demise remains a key moment not only in soap history, but also in British television history as a whole, and it’s a moment that we still talk about to this day.

Trevor Royle (Hollyoaks)

Devastating scenes unfolded in Hollyoaks back in 2016, when Trevor Royle (Greg Wood) was stabbed by Nico Blake (Persephone Swales-Dawson) on his wedding day to Grace Black (Tamara Wall), after the young woman had discovered he’d been having an affair with Sienna (Anna Passey).

What made the whole thing all the more tragic was that Trevor died in Grace’s arms — in the middle of the church — not long after saying ‘I do’.

Interestingly, this isn’t the latest time actor Greg was killed off in a soap, as his character Rick Neelan was recently disposed of in Coronation Street.

Joanie Dingle (Emmerdale)

After serving time in prison for assaulting a police officer, Joanie (Denise Black) was driven back to the village by former friend Lisa Dingle (Jane Cox). Whilst sat in the van, Joanie reflected on the good times she’d shared with Lisa, and told the Dingle matriarch how she wished she could go back to a time before all of the heartache with Zak (Steve Halliwell) had unfolded.

Lisa responded by telling her adversary that going back is simply not an option, but — as she did so — Joanie suffered a swift heart-attack and died instantly. Much like Holly’s, Joanie’s death was previously unannounced, and viewers were left shocked by how quickly it all transpired.

Donna Ludlow (EastEnders)

EastEnders is no stranger to leaving viewers’ jaws on the floor following a shocking ‘Doof Doof’ cliffhanger, but Donna Ludlow’s (Matilda Ziegler) death back in 1989 was one of the first times the soap truly did so. In horrifyingly graphic scenes — even by today’s standards — Dot Cotton (June Brown) returned home to find lodger Donna dead on her living room floor, after choking on her own vomit as the result of an overdose.

In addition to highlighting the harsh reality of drug abuse, Donna’s death was all the more tragic because of the circumstances which ultimately led to it. Much like Danielle nearly 20 years later, the young woman had turned up in the Square looking for her long-lost mum.

However, Donna’s fondness for making up stories resulted in her becoming disliked rather quickly, and — with mum Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) unable to show her affection due to the harrowing circumstances in which she was conceived — Donna turned to drugs.

Lisa Dingle (Emmerdale)

Emmerdale viewers were well aware that Lisa Dingle was going to die following her amyloidosis diagnosis  — which was revealed during the special International Women’s Day episode last year — but the scenes in which the character ultimately passed away came as a shock to us all, as viewers had been under the impression that Lisa still had a couple of months left in her yet.

Earlier this year, the Dingle matriarch married Zak once more, and returned home to get changed for the celebrations in The Woolpack. However, she never showed up at the pub, so Zak went up to the farm to check on his wife, and was devastated to discover she’d slipped away on the sofa.

The death in itself was shocking, but it was the suddenness that allowed for both viewers and the Dingle clan to realise that things would never be the same again.

No, you’re crying.

Harry dies in Hollyoaks
(Picture: Lime Pictures)

Hollyoaks fans have erupted explosively in the wake of a shocking twist that has left a viewer favourite – and one half of #Jarry – dead. Harry Thompson (Parry Glasspool) was brutally murdered by Breda McQueen (Moya Brady) after she suspected that he would be fleeing the life of his newborn baby in order to get a way with a crime he didn’t commit.

Breda’s information was out of date however, as Harry had evidence which got him off the hook and was planning to make amends with his own dad Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard). As Harry lay bleeding to death in an alley after becoming Breda’s eighth victim, producer Bryan Kirkwood’s claims that the death would come as a huge shock to fans werenot wrong.

And viewers hoping that Harry could clear his name from the hit and run and form a future with James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) have been left distraught by the twist.

Taking to social media, they weren’t holding back as they shared their feelings of horror and anger at the direction of the story:

It’s fair to say that it has been a bit of a bombshell for those invested in the show and the partnership and both Parry and Greg predicted a bit of backlash when asked if they were feeling trepidation around the episodes airing.

Parry told Metro.co.uk: ‘There’s going to be hell to pay – riots in the street, it’s a brave decision. I am really hoping it’s a surprise. Tony is a red herring and then everyone thinks Harry is going to get out of the trouble with the crash and then BAM. Hopefully, if no one leaks any spoilers, it will be a huge surprise.’

Greg added to us: ‘I’m sure they will be up in arms! They love the partnership and I think mainly they loved Harry. I think it’s going to be a bit of a blow – I don’t know what to say, really; they will react with shock and sadness. But as things play out over the next few months, hopefully they will understand.’

That may be a lot to ask…

Breda has killed again (Picture: Lime Pictures)

Breda McQueen (Moya Brady) has proven to be an unstoppable killer since arriving in Hollyoaks last year, and she has already killed several characters.

Most recently she murdered Mac Nightingale by poisoning him and then beating him with a tray, but we know of six other men who she took down before then.

Now she has managed to get an eighth kill and it is possibly the most shocking one so far.

So who did she kill in the most recent episode of Hollyoaks and why did she do it?

Who did Breda McQueen kill in Hollyoaks?

Bred McQueen’s next victim is Harry Thompson (Parry Glasspool), who she killed in tonight’s episode of Hollyoaks on E4.

Harry’s life has taken a turn in recent months after he was blamed for a crime that he wasn’t involved with.

Liam Donovan (Jude Monk McGowan) has been trying to get Harry to take the blame for the crash that could have killed Grace Black (Tamara Wall).

It leads to Harry deciding that he needs to get out of the village after his dad Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) turns his back on him.

Before he got a chance to leave he was taken out by Breda as she felt he was leaving his newborn baby with single mum Sadie by going on the run.

Breda has been continuing her murder-spree as she thinks God is telling her to rid the world of bad dads and felt that Harry should be the next to go after planning to go on the run from the police and leave his baby behind.

Speaking about his character’s death, Parry Glasspool exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘It’s really good – the last few weeks have been so intense. His lies have brought him here – it’s not really his fault but at the same time it is.

‘I really enjoyed my last few blocks – and now I’m planning to enjoy the rest of my career!

‘Everyone thinks Harry is alive. Tony now knows Harry is innocent but the last time they met is when he threw him out for like the third time.Their relationship didn’t end well so he will be gutted.’

Max Branning (Jake Wood) is a man on a mission in the next episode of EastEnders as he explodes with rage when he discovers that Kathy and Ian Beale (Gillian Taylforth and Adam Woodyatt) are harbouring Rainie (Tanya Franks), who recently fled with baby Abi.

Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) begged Kathy to help Rainie after she was left brutally attacked when a way of syphoning money from violent perverts backfired. Kathy and Ian gave her refuge so they could protect Abi but when Max finds out this has gone on behind his back, he races over to the Beales’ in a rage.

Ian steps in the way as Max makes a beeline to attack Rainie so Max grabs him by the throat. A passing Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner) intervenes and manages to get Max under a bit of control – but she is shocked to see the state of him and his home as he once again hits rock bottom.
