Due to the extreme amount of pressure she’s been under, Bex Fowler (Jasmine Armfield) attempted to take her own life in EastEnders. Mum Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) was devastated to find her daughter unresponsive in bed, and viewers will soon see her break down over everything that’s happened, before ultimately blaming herself for Bex’s actions.
At her surprise leaving party, Bex put on a smile, but Lisa (Lucy Benjamin) managed to see through her facade, and encouraged her to tell her mum how she truly feels. However, Bex brushed Lisa off and — after making a quick speech — she left the pub. Back home, she attempted to take her own life.
The following morning, Sonia discovered Bex unresponsive in bed, and got her to hospital, where she came to learn that her daughter had attempted suicide.
Viewers will have noticed how Bex has been struggling over the last couple of months, but Sonia was unaware of the pressure that her daughter was under, and thus she blames herself in the coming episodes.
Sonia struggles to come to terms with the events that have transpired, and she breaks down when talking to Lisa — wishing that she had listened to Lisa when she’d voiced her concerns about Bex earlier.
EastEnders airs these scenes on Monday 14th October.
