James Nightingale’s (Gregory Finnegan) relationship with Harry Thompson (Parry Glasspool) may have ended in devastating fashion in Hollyoaks several months back, but — even after the relationship’s culmination — James’ love for Harry was still incredibly evident, which is why he struggles to process his ex-boyfriend’s death in the coming episodes.

Yes, with news of Harry’s death still very much on his mind, James struggles to cope, and as a result he decides to go out partying — much to Marnie’s (Lysette Anthony) dismay.

Things escalate further when he brings some of the men that he was out partying with back to his place — and Marnie (Lysette Anthony) is fuming as a result.

Unable to take any more of his behaviour, she takes it upon herself to throw the men out, before urging her son to stop drinking so that he can come to terms with what’s happened.

Marnie’s words seemingly have little effect on James, as — later — he stands on top of the archway in the pouring rain —and contemplates jumping.

Marnie’s horrified when sets her sights upon him, and — with Romeo (Owen Warner) assisting — she tries to convince him to step away from the ledge.

The question is: will James listen to what Marnie and Romeo have to say?

One to watch: Friday 4th October at 7pm on E4.
