Gareth Gates and Faye Brookes have called off their engagement and split after seven years together.
The Coronation Street actress and singer have gone their separate ways after an on/off relationship, despite getting engaged at the beginning of this year.
‘Gareth and Faye have been through a lot together but they just can’t make it work,’ a source told The Sun Online.
‘She’s in a different place right now after leaving Corrie and is working hard to land some new roles.’
Metro.co.uk has contacted the couples’ reps for further comment.
The split will come as a shock to fans, following a lavish engagement back in January and their talk of wedding plans ever since.
In order to pop the question, Gareth performed a 17-minute song he wrote just for Faye, before getting down on one knee.
However, they had previously decided to go their separate ways, breaking up in September last year and Faye announcing the split in an emotional statement.
Addressing the split after their reunion, Faye said that it gave them a ‘fresh pair of eyes’ on the romance and made their love more ‘intense’.
They first met in 2012 while performing in Legally Blonde: The Musical, but didn’t become an item 10 months after Gareth announced his divorce to Suzanne Mole.
Faye has been hinting at a potential split online over the past 24 hours, with pensive posts about moving on.
One, a poem from L.E. Bowman, read: ‘I want to never have to question your affection./ I want to be so sure of your love that my anxieties starve and die.
‘Fill my head with flowers not fear.’
