Since discovering her dad has stomach cancer, Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell) in Coronation Street has understandably took a step away from her comedic personality that we are so used to seeing. Soon Emma discovers her dad has sadly passed away but she also learns a secret from her dad, soon to destroy her.
Maria (Samia Longchambon) takes Emma to the hospital where the doctor’s break the news that her dad’s cancer is terminal. Audrey (Sue Nicholls) turns up to the hospital to support Emma and Maria leaves. As Emma’s dad drifts in and out of consciousness, he tells Emma that he always loved her as if she was his own, leaving Emma stunned.
Having phoned her Mum, a tearful Emma confides in Audrey that her Dad isnt her real Dad and her Mum’s been lying to her for 20 years. When Emma’s phone rings, she sees it’s her Mum and ignores the call but when the picture of Emma’s Mum flashes up on the phone screen, Audrey is shocked to recognise Fiona Middleton.
Emma tells Audrey she has no desire to trace her real dad as she loved the man she thought was her dad and wants to respect his memory.
Later, Audrey is angry to discover Liz (Beverley Callard) has been gossiping about Emma’s dad.
We of course know rumours of the storyline that Steve MacDonald (Simon Gregson) is infact Emma’s real dad because of a short affair he had with Emma’s mum, Fiona, at around the time Emma would’ve been conceived but is this the start of that storyline? And if Steve is infact Emma’s dad, will Emma find out?
