Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden and Charley Webb’s son Buster gatecrashes Lorraine interview and our hearts

Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden appeared on Lorraine today but, honestly, it was all about his son Buster.

The 39-year-old star is married to co-star Charley Webb – aka Debbie Dingle – and while they get next to no screen time in the Dales, in real life they share two children, Buster, nine, and Bowie, three.

And their eldest totally stole the show this morning as he cheered his dad on from the sidelines.

Matthew and Charley are about to welcome their third baby in nine weeks time, but turning to the camera, Matt raised a huge grin and told viewers: ‘I’ve got Buster with me over there.’

After Buster frantically waved from behind the camera, Lorraine teased: ‘He’s a boy destined to follow in his dad’s footsteps.’

‘He’s not very shy, is he?’ Matthew chuckled.

As for David Metcalfe, last night’s nail-biting episode of Emmerdale saw the panicked father take down Maya Shepney after his teenage son Jacob revealed they’re ‘in love’.

Jacob’s disturbing grooming plot has been simmering in the ITV soap for more than a year, but it appeared Maya finally got what was coming to her as David trapped his ex at the pavilion before police carted her off in handcuffs.

Surely, she’ll get what’s coming to her, right? Well, as she was grilled by police Maya pleaded she’d only ever tried to be nice to Jacob and Liv Flaherty tried to blackmail her out of money, threatening to destroy her career.

Matthew warned viewers the repercussions of Emmerdale’s brave but uncomfortable storyline will seep through the Yorkshire village for months to come as both David and Jacob come to terms with their guilt.

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.

Coronation Street has revealed the fate of Gary Windass (Mikey North) amid rumours that he would die at the hands of Rick Neelan (Greg Wood) after being taken hostage next week. Mikey has been filming on location – along with Rick’s fellow loan shark Sharon – confirming that he is still very much immersed in that dark world.

Wearing a serious expression on his face and carrying some documentation, exactly what Gary is up to remains to be seen – and whether or not he is working under the orders of Rick or off his own accord is also a bit of a mystery.

Recently released spoilers made it clear that Gary’s life will be on the line when Rick tires of being crossed by him and he prepares to murder him in cold blood. But has Gary managed to escape and deal with Rick?

Or have they reached an agreement that sees Gary delve deeper into the criminal underbelly of Weatherfield?

The pictures pose more questions than they answer but Gary and Sharon are heading to an impressive looking house. But who lives there and what their task is remains a closely guarded secret.

Gary is also lined up as one of the final suspects in the Underworld roof collapse and the fact he remains working as a loan shark would fit the narrative of him being the new villain. However, it’s just as likely that he remains Rick’s unwilling puppet – or could even be working undercover to bring the whole operation down.

The storyline has a long way to go but will come to a head next week when Gary tries to escape the country only for Rick to catch up with him first.

The episodes will also see the extreme deterioration of Carla Connor’s (Alison King) psychosis and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) being exposed as the thief who took his gran Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls) money.

Emmerdale spoilers: David Metcalfe gets a new shock amid Maya arrest tonight

David makes a discovery in Emmerdale
(Picture: ITV)

David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) has had his fair share of nasty surprises recently after learning that his girlfriend Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) has been secretly grooming and abusing his teenage son Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), who is now so much under her spell that he is still convinced they are in love and have a future.

David was forced to intervene and trap Maya into a meeting she thought was with Jacob before the police then arrived and arrested her. However, the waters were muddied when Maya implicated Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), Priya Kotecha (Fiona Wade) and Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) for their kidnap and attack on her.

As Maya denied any involvement with Jacob and suggested that David’s exes simply had it in for her, the three women were also arrested and came face to face with Maya, who acted terrified at the sight of them.

As her manipulation continues, David tonight wants Leyla to do the right thing when being questioned by the police – he is of the belief that justice for Jacob must come first, no matter what the cost. But knowing that they could end up in prison, will the trio be prepared to confess to what they did?

And even if so, will it even help the case against Maya?

With Jacob prepared to throw Leyla to the police to save Maya, it’s clear where his loyalties lie thanks to Maya’s cunning manipulation and with evidence lacking against Maya, there is a real risk that she might end up getting away with this.

David places huge importance on what Leyla will tell the police but he is about to make another series of unsettling discoveries which turn everything upside down once and for all.

Will any hope of Maya being punished for her crimes be lost?

Natalie (Cassie Bradley) goes in for the kiss with David Platt (Jack P Shepherd)
(Picture: ITV)

Natalie Watkins (Cassie Bradley) has been about as subtle as Dev Alahan’s nuances when it comes to her attraction to David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) and tonight she makes her move and plants a kiss on him while they’re alone in the barber shop in Coronation Street.

With Natalie constantly flirting – and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) wanting her kept sweet as she knows about the money theft – David has been stuck between a rock and a hard place. And when she goes for it tonight and plants the lips on him, he rejects her, reminding her that he is in love with Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding).

However, with Nick insistent that David has to keep Natalie on side at all costs, will he be tempted when she makes an indecent proposal? And will it lead to a split for David and Shona?

Shona has already sussed that something is amiss with Natalie and can see as clearly as the rest of us that she has designs on David. ‘She’s only human,’ as David himself points out. Fair point.

Shona dumps David in Coronation Street
(Picture: ITV)

Worried about them spending so much time together at the shop, Shona tries to persuade Roy Cropper (David Neilson) to go for a trim and see if he can pick up on any worrying signals. He refuses but Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) reluctantly agrees to the task.

However, his clumsy approach to questioning David about Natalie leads David to realise how unsettled Shona is and he reiterates that she has nothing to worry about.

However, while Natalie’s kiss may have been snubbed, she still seems to be smug and hopeful that she has David exactly where she wants him. Will she make another pounce or is her confidence misguided?

And will Shona be pushed to the edge as Natalie continues to play games?

Tonight, the tension from that causes him to lose it with three teens who attempt to dodge their fare.

Steve angrily gives chase but one of them – James Bailey – is then knocked down. Thankfully he is okay but he explains to Steve that he doesn’t want the police to find out as it could sabotage his football career.

Naturally, it’s in Steve’s best interests for this to not get out either and the pair eventually bond. But Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) who has witnessed the whole event has taken it upon himself to get the police involved so what will Steve and James do when they arrive to question them?

Coronation Street have been filming the ending of Nick Tilsley’s (Ben Price) upcoming trial as a verdict is reached and he faces prison for his crimes which include stealing a huge amount of money from gran Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) and also may include involvement in the death of Rana Habeeb.

Next week, viwers will discover the true culprit in the Underworld disaster but Nick is one of the prime suspects and the cast have been arriving at court to film the verdict that will see Nick’s fate sealed – so could this be the end of the line for him?

When Audrey discovers that Nick was the one who took her money thanks to a confession from David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), she is horrified and slaps her grandson hard. And it seems that the news of what he did will reach the police – and potentially also destroy his relationship with Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) as he makes a confession.

Ben was spotted alongside Jack and Jane as well as cast members Helen Worth, who plays Gail Rodwell and Julia Goulding who plays Shona Ramsey. Sources are staying tight lipped over what the verdict is but Nick could most definitely be facing a lengthy prison sentence.

At the moment he is trying to keep Natalie Watkins (Cassie Bradley) sweet as she knows his theft secret but what part she might play in his downfall remains to be seen.

And with Nick having already been arrested in connection with the roof collapse it could be even more serious than fleecing his gran – could he also be implicated in the tragic death of Rana whether he is guilty or not?

It remains to be seen whether Nick will walk away a free man or head behind bars.

The scenes are filmed weeks in advance so viewers can expect to see the verdict in summer.

And goodness knows what else Nick may have done by then!

Louisa Clein as Maya Stepney in Emmerdale
Child abuser Maya is in trouble (Picture: ITV)

Emmerdale fans everywhere rejoiced when paedophile Maya Stepney was arrested for her abuse of Jacob Gallagher.

Maya (Louise Clien) has been abusing Jacob for some time now, and Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) is still totally in her thrall after having been groomed by her for months.

Finally, after David (Matthew Wolfenden) got wind of the sordid affair between his teenage son and his girlfriend, he intervened and got Maya arrested.

But those of us who thought that it was game over for Maya at last could be sorely mistaken…

Is Maya going to prison?

As Maya was questioned by the police, her manipulative streak and skill as a liar came in handy once again, when she played it off that Jacob was just a kid with a crush, and that all she’d ever wanted was to support the troubled boy.

Putting what could prove to be the nail in the coffin of a case against her, Maya played the victim – claiming that Liv’s (Isobel Victoria Steele) blackmail was unfounded and purely because of a grudge, and revealing that Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) and Priya Kitecha (Fiona Wade) had kidnapped and attacked her.

As a result, all three women were arrested, and when Maya came face to face with them, she pretended to be petrified.

Now it seems Leyla, Tracy, and Priya are the ones who could be facing jail time, with Jacob fully prepared to throw Leyla under the bus to save the woman he thinks he loves.

With David now relying on Leyla to tell the police the right thing to get Maya sent down, and unaware that he’s about to make even more upsetting discoveries, fans can’t help but wonder: Will Maya ever be made to account for her crimes? And will Jacob ever find a way out from under her thumb?

Unfortunately it’s just too soon to tell…

Laurie walks free from prison (Picture: Limehouse Pictures)

Laurie Shelby was released from prison without any charges in the latest episode of Hollyoaks, after wife Sinead reported him to the police for raping her.

Sinead’s (Stephanie Davis) chances of securing a conviction against Laurie (Kyle Pryor) were up in the air after lying to police about when a ‘happy’ family photo was taken – claiming it was captured before she was raped instead of afterwards.

She later realises Laurie was away on a school trip the day she claimed, and he had an alibi to his whereabouts, leaving her concerned it could discredit her case.

In the latest episode, Sinead begs his alibi Sienna to lie about when she was on the trip with Laurie. Following advice from her boyfriend, Brody, however, Sienna decides she has to tell the truth.

Lydia helped to lift Lisa’s spirits and she had an enjoyable hen afternoon where she also shared a moment with Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper).

Meanwhile, Zak was in a world of his own as he planned words to say for their impromptu wedding and Cain (Jeff Hordley) sat down with him for a heart to heart while also agreeing to take over custody of Kyle.

Originally a clssic character of the 90s, Bianca has had a number of high profile storylines over the years – not least of all her fiery relationship with Ricky Butcher. But bosses remin tight lipped over what brings her back to the the Square for a limited stint.

Either way, show boss Jon Sen has promised major scenes and he admitted that it was high up on his EastEnders bucket list to get the gobby, puffa jacket wearing favourite back in Walford.

The Platt family in Coronation Street
(Picture: ITV)

The Platt family have seen their fair share of heartbreaks but generally they have stuck together through thick and thin – but Tina O’Brien has warned that the Coronation Street clan may be divided forever when a holiday descends into chaos with the truth about Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) stealing Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls) money comes to light.

As David realises he can’t keep the secret any longer, he admits the truth to a horrified Audrey and she feels utterly betrayed by both of her grandsons. And the ripples of this revelation will be felt across the entire family.

Tina explained: ‘I do think this could be what tears the Platts apart. Audrey is heartbroken and what they have done to her is unforgivable and so painful. Sarah feels very betrayed by them as well. Sarah is devastated and feels like there is no coming back from it.

‘David has had his issues in the past and Sarah has always found ways to forgive him, maybe it’s because he is her little brother and she always wants to sort out his problems. She feels so betrayed with Nick. David is quite remorseful but Sarah feels Nick has an attitude which she is really hurt by. As far as she is concerned she never wants to see Nick again, she doesn’t want to work in the factory with him, she wants him out.’

David tells Audrey the truth in Coronation Street
(Picture: ITV)

However, Tina has had a blast filming the scenes with all of the Platts and anticipates more high drama to come.

She smiled: ‘Anything that involves me being on set with a bunch of Platts, I’m in heaven. I love being with the guys; we all have quite different personalities but we all gel so well. It feels really good to be a part of and there’s going to be more to come as we see the fall-out from this and we see the ways that The Platts try to make this work as a family.’

Hayley Tamaddon has ruled out Shane Richie as godfather for her unborn child as she revealed she’s expecting a little boy.

The 42-year-old former Coronation Street actress, who played Andrea Beckett for three years, announced that she was pregnant last month and let loose that the EastEnders star was among the first to know her baby news.

Speaking on Lorraine, Hayley said: ‘I told him and two other girls I was close to and they kept it a secret the whole time, which is just wonderful.

‘Shane thinks he’s going to be godfather, he’s not. I love that man so much.’

Hayley also accidentally let slip the gender of her bundle of joy, telling Lorraine: ‘I’ll bring him to meet you.’

Realising her mistake, she quickly added: ‘I think I might have just told you what it is.’

Despite bowing out of the cobbles in 2015, Hayley made it no secret that she wants to return and even suggested a storyline for her character Andrea.

‘It would be a dream to go back to Corrie it really would. I see my friends from Corrie all the time,’ she enthused. ‘She [Andrea] could run the cab company for a while.’

Andrea was axed from Coronation Street as part of the ITV’s 60th anniversary but the door was left open for the character, meaning that she could return at any moment.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 8.30am on ITV.

Does Maya get murdered in the woodland in Emmerdale?
(Picture: ITV)

Maya Stepney is to exit Emmerdale at the end of the sex abuse storyline in coming weeks, with actress Louisa Clein reportedly having already filmed her final scenes for the soap. It was always inevitable that a character like Maya would have a shelf life and it looks like Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) may finally get justice for what has happened to him.

But whether or not he will come to see that what Maya did to him was abuse is another matter as he remains under her spell and refuses to speak out against her following her recent arrest. Maya will remain on screen as the story continues to its conclusion but the ramifications will likely be felt for Jacob and his dad David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) beyond that.

Fans have been calling for Maya to pay for her crimes but through Louisa’s chillingly nuanced performances, she has played the master manipulator from start to finish, with Maya effectively grooming Jacob and now twisting things to make it seem like David exes bear a grudge with her.

But it looks like it will all finally collapse around her – as show boss Kate Brooks confirmed that the outcome would be the right one for the audience considering the gravity of the storyline.

She told Metro.co.uk: ‘We’ve got a responsibility. A lot of people watch the show, a lot of teenagers watch the show, and also we would never just tell one of these stories lightly, we have a duty to make sure the right protocol is carried out, and the right outcome.’

On whether Maya might be back for a court case, Kate added: ‘It might not be that case. Wait and see. But Maya is a desperate woman. There’s lot going on, and she’s under a lot of pressure. It’s interesting to explore the family, it’s about Jacob and David and Pollard, that’s what we’re keen to tell is the aftermath and how it impacts on them.’

Ben Mitchell reveals his plans for Phil in EastEnders
(Picture: BBC)

Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) is about to take a step too far and kick off a horrifying chain of events in EastEnders that could see both Billy (Perry Fenwick) and his young son Will die in a horrifying twist. With Billy being savvy to what Ben is up to in attempting to destroy Phil (Steve McFadden), the vengeful local decided it was time to silence him forever – and he hired a hitman to kill him.

Insisting that he make it look like a tragic accident, Ben pointed Billy out to the assassin and smiled smugly to himself as he quietly bid goodbye to Billy, thinking that his problems were over. However, he should think again as he is about to put a young child in the assassin’s path as the so-called ‘accident’ unfolds.

Phil has a job for Billy and as he heads out on the errand, Will goes with his dad. When Ben gets wind of the fact that Will is out with Billy, he is horrified as what he has panned to happen would affect them both.

He faces a desperate race against time – it seems that as far as Ben is willing to go (killing his own family members!) he has drawn the line at an innocent child being hurt. But is he too late to stop tragedy unfolding?

As disaster strikes and the hitman makes his move, will both Billy and Will be killed, destroying the Mitchell family forever and making Ben realise he has made the most horrific mistake of his life?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Thursday 23rd May at 7:30pm on BBC One.

Actor and Coronation Street alum Andrew Hall has died.

Hall, who was 65, is survived by his wife Abigail, his mother Mabel, his children Josh and Kate, and his grandchildren Maggie and Jasper.

His son Josh has said: ‘Andrew began his acting career playing the character of Russell in the BBC series Butterflies.

‘Most recently he appeared as The Gentleman in the Syfy series Blood Drive.’

‘Later he worked as a director and producer, enjoying successes with productions including Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? At the Trafalgar, and Kindertransport, which toured the UK.’

His management, InterTalent confirmed the sad news on Twitter, saying: ‘It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our client and friend Andrew Hall who sadly passed away on Monday after a short illness.

‘Andrew was loved by audiences for his many roles, most notably Butterflies, Coronation Street and, more recently, Syfy’s Blood Drive.’

For those of you who don’t remember Hall from his Corrie days, or just want a reminder of what happened to the character he played on one of the nation’s favourite soaps, here’s what you need to know…

Who was Andrew Hall’s Corrie character Mark Selby?

Andrew Hall played Marc Selby ITV’s Coronation Street back in 2011.

Marc was the cross-dressing love interest of Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), and appeared on Corrie for just over seven months.

After first becoming involved with Claudia Colby (Rula Lenska), widower Marc Selby decided to keep his cross-dressing alter ego, Marcia, a secret from her, which ultimately ended up ruining their relationship.

The person Marc did confide in during this time however was Claudia’s friend Audrey, whom Marc called to collect him from the Weatherfield Police Station one night after he’d been attacked as Marcia.

When his relationship with Claudia ended, Marc and Audrey began seeing each other, despite Audrey’s initial worries that his cross-dressing would cause them problems.

Ultimately, even though the two got along like a house on fire, their relationship ended when, after Kylie (Paula Lane) found out about Marcia and began blackmailing Audrey to get her job back, Marc came clean by dressing up as Marcia and marching into the Rovers.

This, despite the fact that Audrey had previously told Marc that she wasn’t yet ready for him to go public with Marcia – so his revelation, however empowering for him, hurt and upset Audrey, so she broke up with him.
